There’s also an elder helpline staffed by trained specialists to answer questions and provide seniors with unbiased information and referrals.
Dr. Piper Center for Social Services(239) 332-5346The Dr. Piper Center for Social Services offers various support programs designed to improve seniors’ overall quality of life. One of these programs is Senior Companions, through which local volunteers are paired with seniors to provide a sense of friendship to minimize feelings of loneliness and isolation. The center also offers its Faith in Action program, which provides volunteer transportation services to take seniors to medical appointments, shopping and assist with errands.
Senior Friendship Centers of Lee County(239) 275-1881Senior Friendship Centers of Lee County is a regional branch of Southwest Florida’s non-profit Senior Friendship Centers initiative. The organization seeks to provide seniors with opportunities that empower them to live healthy and active lives. The centers run a variety of activities that seniors can participate in, including a senior volunteer program, wellness classes and educational seminars. There are also 10 dining sites where seniors can come to enjoy nutritious lunchtime meals in a social setting.
Lee County Department of Human & Veteran Services(239) 533-7900The Lee County Department of Human & Veteran Services serves as a hub of resources to help veterans access a variety of supportive programs, services and benefits that they’re entitled to.
Healthy Life Centers(239) 424-3220The Healthy Life Centers are part of Lee Health’s efforts to provide comprehensive health and wellness services to Lee County residents. Seniors can visit one of the organization’s three locations to participate in various health-focused activities and events, including free educational seminars, group fitness classes, cooking classes and senior social events.
