Independent Living Communities in Rosenberg, TX

"We visited the assisted living facility of Carriage Inn - Katy, and also saw their independent living. What stood out for us was their very caring and fun staff. All the residents also seemed to really love the place. They came up to us and were just expressing how much they loved it there and how great the staff was. My parents liked the food, too. They let us have lunch there twice, and the food was really good. They have a good variety, and everybody in the community was coming up to us, telling us how good the chef was and how much they enjoyed the food. The apartments were really spacious compared to some others that we visited. The staff members were also really good with my parents and answered all of our questions. They seemed to enjoy their job. Everything in the facility was also clean. The place is older, but they've maintained it well. It's also all in one story, which was a big thing for my parents. They didn't want a multi-level facility."

"I moved to The Abbey of Westminster, and so far I'm very, very happy. Everybody is very friendly. The food is very good. It's very convenient. All the people are smiling. Everybody seems to be happy, and nobody's complaining. They have real nice size apartments. I have a one-bedroom with a flex room. It has a full kitchen (if you want to use it), refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer in the bathroom, and a walk-in closet to hold all my clothes. I didn't look at any other place because I watched The Abbey for six years, when they first started six years ago. I told my wife at the time that we should move there. They offer everything that a person can do. It seems like there's something every hour of every day. On one specific day each week, they have an outing that they go someplace. They have a concierge. I have paid parking on the inside, and the outside you don't have to pay for it. They provide transportation to the doctor, to Kroger's, and for everything you need. It's more than adequate. I have once a week, an hour and a half of room maintenance or room cleaning. They make my bed. They pick up things. They're very, very cautious. They don't move your personal items that you have laying out. It's extremely private. For activities, they've got water aerobics every day. Once a week, they have online dancing classes and physical exercises done by video. They've got a 24-seat theater with big, comfortable black chairs. They have a movie every night at 7:00. They have the same chef that they've had for six years. They operate just like a restaurant. He changes his menu weekly. The menu comes up printed every week. It's also very, very flexible as to what you can order. There are side orders that you can order in place of those that are on the menu. Some people who are here were residents at other places, and they moved to The Abbey primarily because of the food flexibility. I know that there are places that are way more reasonable, but provide nothing other than maybe meals and a place to sleep. This is not a buy-in. There are places that are buy-ins that may have equal money value after the buy-in. They allow my dog. I have a pension and because I have Social Security, it does not cost me a lot out of my savings on a monthly basis because everything is included. They include the cable television. They can keep you busy every hour from 9:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night. The movie starts at 7:00 and goes to 10:00. They have the bible study and transportation to churches. For those people who don't want to get out, they have recordings of the different church services that are held on Sunday mornings. They show them during the daytime on Sunday."

"Atria Westchase is very professional and very helpful. Everything is immaculate. It's not real fancy, but it's very, very clean, and up to date. I have a little studio apartment and there's lots of grab bars for assistance. There are activities all day such as exercise classes, bingo, and other games. There's also a nice outdoor area with lots of porches where you can sit out. The grounds are very pretty. They have it landscaped usually and it's very accessible to a really nice porch that overlooks the ground. The food could be a little better, but I think it's probably on par for a large community. We have assigned seats and it's prepared very well. It's served hot and served from a menu. I just prefer a lot more fresh vegetables and fresh fruits."

"Aurora Living is a personal care home. It was nice. It was clean. It was fine. The rooms were nice. They're okay. The staff who toured us around kind of manages the place, and her name is Nikki. She was nice. She was very informative. I think she said they provide three meals a day and maybe snacks."

"It was probably the Taj Mahal. They have given my brother the ultimate care. They were in that room constantly checking on him, taking care of him, and keeping the facility so clean and nice. The food was good. It was just an unbelievable experience. He's very sick, so he didn't enjoy too many things, but he loved doing the physical therapy. It kind of got him out of his room. I liked the camaraderie. The people being so concerned, sweet, nice, and caring. He did go to the 10-year anniversary of the facility. They had bands, harpists, and different people playing music on each floor. It was quite an event, and it was his birthday that day; so that was something really extraordinary because he had not been getting out of his room. We took him out to give him a little party in his room. Then he went to experience all that on the different floors with his family and that was just wonderful."

"My sister is in here. It's a great place. It's beautiful. It outplaced all of the ones we looked at. They offer everything there. They have happy hours, they provide breakfast, and they provide some lunches. They have beautiful apartments there. It was a fantastic place for her to live. She doesn't need assistance. She was just looking for a place and I got a lot of reviews or referrals, but none of them matched this place. They have all the amenities, a hair salon, and they do pedicures. It's just fantastic. It's 55 and over. All of the people there are able to take care of themselves. They don't have nurses or anything. They got everything there. I was really happy that when we compared the prices of other places for what this place offered, there was no comparison at all. I really feel she's getting what she paid for. It's very, very comparable to what others quoted me. The apartments are just absolutely gorgeous. They have all stainless-steel appliances, and they have gorgeous countertops. They're really big apartments compared to some of the other ones that I've seen. The staff members were wonderful and absolutely fantastic. They've bent over backwards to help. I've seen the food a couple of days that we were there. They have breakfast tacos and sometimes they have a chef come in that cooks. They have a housekeeper that sometimes cooks in the morning, so they have a variety. On Friday night, they have happy hour where they have somebody that comes in and cooks and they serve beer and soft drinks, and they've got music and entertainment. It's usually all full on Friday night. It is a very large dining area where you're not crowded or anything. It's where they do a lot of the activities. They have computer rooms, and they have different rooms for different activities. They have something almost every day for someone to do like painting. The Chamber of Commerce was in there one day when I was there. They had meetings there. I haven't found any place that compared to this at all for the pricing. It's really good maintenance. This is a relatively new property. It's not that old. There are quite a few residents there. The staff is very outgoing and very friendly. They've been so helpful and very cooperative. They are basically at your beck and call. I have tried the food and it was delicious. I can't say anything other than it was the best for a community like that. You can always go back for seconds if you wanted more to eat. There's probably something there for everybody. There's panting, bingo, games, basically anything you want to do. If you want to go in there and do work on a computer, you can go in there and do that. Everything is clean. My sister hasn't had any complaints. It's been fantastic. I love this place. It's very nice and everybody was so friendly there."

"My parents have already been in The Village of Tanglewood for three years now. They like where they are. It's "grade A" all the way. It's very, very nice and a great place. They have people who come in and sing at Christmastime, they play bingo, and there's a calendar of events on display, like in the elevator, and it tells you what's going on throughout the day. They also have a recreation room, a swimming pool, and a fitness center, and they do special things during Easter, Memorial Day, and all that."

"My mother-in-law lived at Hampton at Post Oak for a number of years. It's very nice and professionally run. "

"I took three tours here. Overall, I was very impressed with the fact that it is kind of small and intimate. You get more of a feeling of a family or a home. It's not big. I got to meet most of the staff that would be caring for my client, and I was very impressed with them. They were all very friendly. There are very few residents there right now, and they seem to interact with them on a one-on-one basis. The rooms are not that large, but they're very nice. The bathrooms are very well equipped with very large showers, which makes it easier to assist somebody with their bathing. They have a wonderful common area living room-type setting, and then a dining room where there's a full-sized refrigerator and snacks for the residents at all times. The first time I went there, a couple of the residents were finishing their lunch meals, but I was told that the caregivers eat their meals with the residents, so it's more like a sit-down family-type meal setting, and I was very impressed with that. If they needed physical therapy, they have that available, too. They have a salon and a gym area that the residents can use. They have several large common areas. There's a balcony area where you can sit outside. It's a relatively new place, so everything is nice, fresh, and new. All the staff were available to answer questions that I had."

"A Life Saver Assisted Living is an affordable way for us to be able to put our mom to be taken care of by specialized people. The staff was great. Thomas was great. It's a three-bedroom house and it's well taken care of. The environment is friendly. The rooms were OK, not big and not small."

"I toured Emerson Pines and I liked the location of it. It's very close to my work. The apartment the gentleman showed me was very nice. It's a one-bedroom apartment. He didn't show me much of the complex and I'm going to go back to see a two-bedroom just to compare and to see what else they have. It's an older facility, but it was clean. They have a place you can sit with a little putting green."

"I visited The Village of Southampton about six weeks ago. I liked the fact that they had three levels of care, independent living, assisted living, and memory care. It's all in one building. It's a high-rise building. They had activities for the people who live there. Everything was provided. They give you a list of activities for the whole month. Everything looked perfect. Everything was perfect. I saw an apartment, the dining room, the different rooms where they have activities, and I saw the vehicle that carries the people wherever they want to go. I talked to a couple of the residents, and they seem to be happy there. The staff who showed me around was very professional. I didn't try the food and seeing the menus, it looked very good. And they will take care of special diets."
