My husband has moved to The Forum At Memorial Woods. He is in their memory care. The caretakers are very friendly and attentive, and the community itself seemed lively. His room is excellent and the staff are helpful. I only experienced one meal there, and it was fantastic. The dining room is large and very nice like a five-star hotel. They put out an activity calendar that is so full that there's no way a person could do it all. They have activities listed 7 days a week, from 9 to 6.

I moved into The Forum at Memorial Woods. My experience has been great. Everyone, including the staff, maintenance, and cleaning management has been extremely helpful. The food is excellent. The other residents are incredible. I was able to connect with many of them. I'm enjoying my new life here. The facility is incredible. My apartment is beautiful. We have so many activities you can engage in. We have exercises, reading clubs, all kinds of games, and music activities, which are excellent. I visited six of these places before I chose The Forum at Memorial Woods, and for the money, I have no doubt that it is the best deal.

I toured The Forum At Memorial Woods. They had valet service, which was fabulous. However, it's a condominium, and they had no windows. That was their only downfall. Everything else was wonderful. The staff was fabulous. They had every game imaginable, including card games. It's beautiful, but not worth the money compared to the other community.

The Forum At Memorial Woods is beautiful. It was just too expensive, but it is more like living in a hotel atmosphere. There was carpet all over the floors and everything was in that building, like the gym, the hairdressers, and the swimming pool. The rooms were great. There's a washer and dryer right in the room as well as microwaves. Everybody was very nice. Everybody was great. The food was great. The menu was also great. We got to choose from the menu.

I'm at The Forum at Memorial Woods. The people in the facility look happy, like they enjoy themselves and their community. They have an indoor pool, so you can have physical therapy and water therapy right here where you live. They feed you three meals a day and that's included in the rent. It's better than hospital food. They have games like bingo, dominoes, and Wii bowling on the screen. They take you to Walmart, H-E-B, and Kroger. They have a movie night, a happy hour, and different get-togethers. For new members, once a month we have a party and they meet everybody. I like my room. It seems open because there's a lot of glass. I can see outdoors, the buildings, the sky, the birds, and stuff like that. It is a small studio. The staff members work hard. They're very open to suggestions. I think they need to get a P.A. announcement though, where if something terrible has happened and you need to tell everybody, and you didn't have time in advance to warn them about it, you can have an overhead announcement where everybody can hear all of the things to help us feel more safe. It's wheelchair accessible, but some places were not handicap friendly, like the indoor pool's restroom. I'm on the fourth floor, and when the elevator opens I'd like to see brightness (it's a little dark). The chairs are dark and like they're used up. They need to be refreshed and they need to be brighter because it helps cheer you up.

The forum at memorial woods has been an excellent home to my mother. I am grateful for the front office and all the health care workers who without a doubt have had some intensive training. The communication over the past year during the pandemic has been phenomenal. The protocols put into place to protect the residents was swift and effective. We were all scared and the supervisors communicated with me as much as they possible could as I could not be there.

I'm an artist, and The Forum At Memorial Woods has been very cooperative in helping me to set up an art program here. They are wonderful. They've dedicated two apartments for us to use for the artwork that the students are doing, and I'm teaching classes here. There are also games, like Uno, dominoes, bingo, and a lot of activities. Then we have a happy hour every Friday, which is when a piano player comes in and there's a lot of sing-along stuff going on. We do karaoke once a month and a creative crafts program once a week on Thursdays. We had a very good chef before, but we lost him. So, they are still working on hiring a good chef. The first floor is still in the process of remodeling for now, but I'm sure it'll look good once it's done.

My dad is a resident of the independent living level of The Forum at Memorial Woods. The place is well-appointed, has very nice rooms, and a professional staff. I would say they're the best place for highly social and independent seniors. The food is fine, but they don't always offer healthy options.

The Forum At Memorial Woods feels like every person who works there really sincerely cares about our family. It's not the most beautiful place, but it certainly is the most homey. It feels really good there. All of the staff members are good and I've seen people go out of their way to be kind. They go a long way not only to help the person in rehab, but to help the family as well. We've been able to provide a lot of ancillary care because they have instructed us and we're able to give my dad full time rehab. The food is excellent and their activities are really good. My dad is enjoying meeting all of the people. They have very skilled physical, occupational, and cognitive therapists. All of their therapists are very well qualified in making it challenging yet safe and enjoyable for my father. He never complains and does exactly what the therapists say. He believes in in the therapy, even if at the end of the day he's tired. For the actual rehab part of it, it's five stars. Kevin is the director of all the therapists and he is excellent. Where the place is weak is that they don't have nearly enough CNAs or assistants, so what happens is sometimes there's a 20-minute wait if my dad needs to go to the bathroom. They're very lovely people and it's not that they're ignoring us, it's just that they're understaffed.

I liked the folks at The Forum at Memorial Woods. However, it was too big, so it's hard for them to get to know one another, and the place has older folks specifically. The staff was very friendly, very attentive, and knew one another by name. They're aware of all the residents' issues. It was a little bit more expensive, but it might be because of its location.

I went to The Forum at Memorial Woods, but I did not see the apartments. All of the staff seemed to know the residents and called them by name. It was more formal because the men and women wore dresses and coats. The residents looked happy. It looked like they were going somewhere when I was there. No one was idle or waiting around. They were out and about and some were going to get a haircut. It was active. It's like walking into an apartment complex. They were very accommodating and friendly.

My father has been staying here for eight days. The nurses-especially the female nurses can be VERY rude. The night staff has upset my father by telling him, 'Oh, it's YOU again!!' when he calls them more than once. The doctors and social services people are very nice & sociable. But the nurses act as though they don't like their jobs and don't want to be there. Having to deal with them is annoying and I despise leaving my father alone.

I am impressed with the location of The Forum. It’s a nice place for seniors but terrible for skilled nursing. They neglect, so I have to be there every day. The building is beautiful, looks like a hotel, and is very spacious and updated. They play music, do volunteer work, celebrate holidays, and have music every Sunday and on holidays. The food sometimes was very good. My father went to the hospital three times there, and they definitely need more staff. They have two people per staff member and one person taking care of up to 10 people.

The Forum at Memorial Woods was very nice but too noisy. The activities were great. It would be fine for somebody used to a high-rise, but that atmosphere does not fit my parents. The staff was great. The rooms were very nice, and the common area seemed to be well kept and clean. The residents also seemed to be well kept and clean. It would be a great place to be if you were used to living in a downtown situation.

The Forum at Memorial Woods was very good and I would rather them highly. The staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. They also have long term care facility within the same ground and I like that. The rooms were very nice and clean as well.

The Forum at Memorial Woods is a beautiful place and very well taken care of. Out of the places that I visited, this was the one with the most knowledgeable staff. They knew their deal, they knew what they were talking about, they were extremely helpful, and they directed me to the right people. They put me in contact with the Alzheimer's Association. We decided not to get my father into memory care, yet they still contact me, they still invite me to events that they know would benefit us as a family without expectations, without trying to sell or anything. This is the best out of all the places that I visited. They're going through remodeling, and they showed me some rooms/apartments that were being redone. They're pretty right in the standard. They had various activities. I was very impressed with the staff, with their caring attitude, with their knowledge, and they seemed very experienced. The dining area was very clean.

The people who assisted me at The Forum at Memorial Woods were very helpful, very nice, and very cooperative. The whole facility had a very nice atmosphere. All of the concierges and waiters seemed to know the residents by name and were very friendly and helpful. My mom has not moved in yet, but she will be moving in at the end of this month. She stayed there for a week on a respite while I was out of town, and she liked it well enough that she decided to move there. So far, everything has been very good. The services were very good, and the food was excellent.

Father will be moving to The Forum. My experience has been very good and has been an all around positive experience. The people have been very helpful and courteous. They had television time and had activities for the seniors, and my father is going into their Bridge unit. They have things to keep them stimulated, things to try and get them active. The move was a financial choice because where he was I just could not sustain anymore. The Forum has an excellent price, and they do have good services.

The Forum was a very exclusive and very exquisite place. It was absolutely excellent. Everybody was friendly, nice, and very professional. They had piano nights and social nights. They had a lot of activities for the residents. Every floor had a senior captain, and every person had a life alert necklace. I loved this place.

The Forum has independent, assisted, and skilled nursing. The independent is good, but I don't know anything about the assisted, and I don't recommend the skilled nursing. The independent part is a five star facility, and they have a lot of activities. The food in the dining room is good. They have a beauty salon, happy hour, and all kinds of activities. They have all kinds of activities, and the independent living was great and a nice facility for that. I would recommend the independent living. The staffs are great, and the apartment is beautiful. It is a great facility for the independent living. It is close to everything, and it is in a great location.

I like The Forum, but they’re missing grounds, and also in order to live there, you have to deal with the traffic going out and coming in, so that’s a big negative. The building, the restaurant, the service, and the food were lovely. I liked everything except the location.
Provider Response
I am the Executive Director and I sincerely appreciate your Five Star review and your kind words about our community and dining. I would like to speak with you regarding the location. We have always been proud of our premium setting overlooking Memorial Park in the fabulous Galleria area with easy access to everything that Houston has to offer. Houston traffic is not easy! I want to be sure that you know all we have in place to make driving and getting around enjoyable. First of all, we have a transportation team with cars and our community vans to accommodate our residents. In addition, we have the parking garage and best of all- Valet Parking! So I invite you to “Leave the Driving to Us!” Please stop by to visit so we can chat more about this. Again, we thank you for the Five Star Review!

If I would move to a facility, the one that I would pick for myself was The Forum. I liked the dining facilities and the apartments. The staff was excellent. The dining room was beautiful. It had tablecloths, and I just liked everything about it.

My dad moved to the Forum in April. I absolutely loved it and I hope I could afford it someday, but I don’t think I will. I liked everything about it -- it’s very good and very nice. I have no complaints and neither does he. There were complaints about the food -- they’ve made a few changes and it’s gotten a little better. They offer a lot choices from which to select. They have activities, but dad doesn’t participate. There’s always entertainment during the weekend; there are also movie nights, people who will come and sing, and water aerobics. He is happy there.

The Forum is in the middle of downtown, but right on a major freeway. It's 20 stories tall. What is there is very nice and very pretty, but they're extremely small rooms. It's been there quite a few years. As far as assisted living, the amenities are not too great. The drawback is that I'm only 85, but I'm still active but I have to put my wife into assisted living, so I will have to go with her. There's absolutely nothing there for me to participate in.

My mother-in-law broke her hip and we had to move her to The Forum at Memorial Woods. They are really top of the line. The rooms are very, very clean. Everybody is always happy; we've never had a problem so far, and I hope it stays that way. I consider them a top-notch nursing home. Every day, every hour they have something going on. If it is not Bingo, they've got piano people coming in, or they have activities throughout the day constantly. That is a very good facility.

Mom will be moving to The Forum at Memorial Woods. We chose this because the area that it’s in is close to the family, and she likes the facility. So far, the staff that we have dealt with seems very nice. I ate there once and the food was fine. They have exercise, card games, and outings; they seem to have a lot of things every day.

Think highly of most features of the Forum compared to other facilities we considered in Houston, such as the high-rise design that reduces the walking required to get to the dining room, exercise and other facilities, the covered garage adjacent to the main building, the two meal per day approach and its high quality, the ability to use the grounds and facilities at the next door First Baptist Church, plus the fact we are renting and not having to "buy in" [thus being able to invest the funds from the sale of our house]. Only problem noted so far is the somewhat antiquated temperature control system, which is slowly being updated, floor by floor.

Both of my parents were there in different capacities. I would not recommend this facility. For us, there was no communication between the various departments. If there is an organization plan it does not seem to be followed or known by residents or workers. I think that unless you possess forensic accounting skills, it is impossible to understand the billing. If you question the charges, their attitude changed from big smiles to big bureaucracy. The valet staff is the best part of this organization. They are kind, professional and always helpful. My father always complained about how bad the food was. He had no option but to pay for the meals but mostly prepared his own food because he just could not stomach the taste. If you are very rich and healthy you might find this a good place to live. We found the administration staff to be a well oiled sales machine.
Provider Response
Thank you for your feedback. Here at The Forum at Memorial Woods, providing the best quality care for our residents is our highest priority, so it is a serious concern for me when I read about a resident or family member who comes away with an experience as negative as the one you described. If you are willing to do so, I would like to speak to you in person or over the phone to address each one of your concerns in detail, and with the attention that it deserves.
