I visited this facility

I toured Carriage Inn - Katy. I love it. It was very nice, but this wasn't in our price range. I would love to live there. The apartments were nice. They weren't too big, but they weren't too small. It's very comfortable. The dining area, or their entertainment area, and all that was homy. It felt very comfortable when you went in there. All the people that lived there were all super nice and happy. The staff was great. Even after we figured out that it wasn't for us because of the price, she still took the time to talk to me and gave me a few options where I could go or whatever. She explained that they keep them very busy.

I visited this facility

The staff at Carriage Inn-Katy was attentive and informative, and they made it understandable in terms of what the options were. The building was above average. It felt comfortable and clean. As far as the layout, it's a function of what my dad's capable of, not the facility. Some of the distances from the rooms to the dining room were longer than he could probably do. That doesn't mean it's not a good facility and it doesn't mean that there may not be a room closer, but for my dad, that would be a distance too far. The common area and the dining room were on par. They were in line with the others that we've looked at recently and that means they're a plus. As far as cleanliness, it was certainly acceptable. I didn't see anything that raised concerns.

I visited this facility

I toured Carriage Inn - Katy. Everything was great. I think that was the one that I was really going to choose, if we decided. It was very clean. It looked like the rooms were very nice, spacious. The facility was very good sized. They had a lot of activities going for the seniors. It was actually really nice. One day I was there, they were having bingo night. I visited twice, the other was a Friday night. They had a band coming in, just a social time for all the seniors to be in the same place, and just having a band and food and all of that. I actually dealt with two people. One was the director of the facility. Very nice, very knowledgeable, gave us a tour, followed up several times if we had any questions, and just was very helpful, letting us know what kind of resources they had, as far as taking care of meds and what kind of activities they had for everybody. So, very helpful, and gave us a full tour of the facility. The facility was a little bit older, but the rooms were really nice. These were really nice rooms where they had a sitting room, bedroom, a master bathroom, and a little kitchen. They were really, really more set up, like gave you a lot of space, and felt like you weren't just living in a hotel room. A lot of those rooms had a patio door, where if you had an inside room you could walk out onto the patio. It was open and it was well kept.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into Carriage Inn Katy a week ago. The people there are wonderful. They have been extremely caring and extremely patient in normal day-to-day activities as well as in the service that they're providing. Everyone has been wonderful. Rebecca, who we dealt with at the very beginning, all the way to Frances, who we talk to every day, are extremely helpful. Mom has a studio apartment. It flows from the kitchenette to the living room to the bedroom area. There's not a door between any of those three rooms, but it does flow. They have about seven activities a day. I jokingly called it a cruise ship that doesn't leave the land. They have mind-capturing activities like puzzles, word search, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. There's a lot of interaction between the residents. They also have people come in and play music. One day last week, they had someone come in for poetry. They also play bingo. I've been there when Mother has dined several times and the food is very attractive. It smells good. I had pumpkin pie yesterday that was very, very good. They also have pecan pie that looks very tempting. Everything looks very good and very clean. When you walk in, you're greeted with a clean smell.

I visited Carriage Inn - Katy. The facility was nice, and everybody was friendly. I didn't see anything particularly that I disliked. The rooms were nice. They showed me the nice dining area and the crafts room. The residents could sit outside if they wanted to. The building seemed well-kept. All the equipment and furniture seemed to be well-kept up and in good condition.

Carriage Inn - Katy is clean and nice, and it did not smell bad. Some of the staff there are very good. My friend has very good staff right now who try to do everything they can to help her. They are very patient with her. The place is very good, and the food is good. Her room is very big and spacious. It has a living area, a bed, and then a kitchenette. She's happy there. They take her down every day where she plays some games

We visited both the assisted living and memory care at Carriage Inn-Katy. It is one of my favorites, because the location is very convenient for me. The staff was very friendly and everything was well-maintained. The price was very reasonable compared to the others. It wasn't too fancy of a place, but it was very nice. They had an option of a menu and then the residents could order from that, like an a la carte from a few options, which I thought was nice. One thing that was also very good about them was, compared to other places that I've been to, they didn't have a fixed schedule to eat. It could vary. So, they could choose what time they wanted to eat. They also have bingo, a happy hour, and live music. I could see that the residents were enjoying that. Sounds like they had a good chance of socializing. The rooms were very nice and well taken care of. It's not brand new, but everything was very, very nice. The assisted living was actually pet-friendly.

My dad chose here. We liked best that it's single-level and it had a tree-covered courtyard where you can go out and sit, and can still go out in the afternoons or whenever. He'll have a little patio outside, that's what he liked best, he was not happy to go to a multi-story place at this time because he has a dog to take care of. The staff was very nice and answered all my questions. We went in, looked at the dining room, and looked at the menu for the day. It was clean, there was no smell, except that they still had not been able to do repairs and replacements on flooring, and I've gone back since then, and still not all the repairs are done. The people are very nice, and I like the room that he's gonna get.

We went here. They were next in line for my mother. The staff was very personable, very knowledgeable, and they were very courteous. It was very clean. It's a huge place, and a lot bigger than it looked like from the front. The size of the rooms was comparable to the other place, but they didn't have one that was empty at that time. We got to see a split room where there were two people. Both the people had their own bedroom, but they had a common area. They were finishing up, and doing whatever they needed to do to get it ready. Basically, they had a common area for each of the main buildings, they also had where you could have a home apartment with a garage and everything else. We didn't go into those rooms, but it looked pretty clean, and the yards were kept up.

It is our first choice because it's one story, and has lots of outside sitting area and things like that. I think it's a really good community, and has a really roomy unit that has a lot of emphasis in getting the people outside to get sunshine and first floor. Being in one floor, they can get to communal areas with the covered hallways to get them out of the rain. The director has a very practical and straight-forward approach in trying to get them independent, and at the same time, giving them the help they needed. We went by the dining area, what I saw was that the people seem to really enjoy that they were doing restaurant dining. They interacted with the waitresses and staff instead of going through dining lines, they take their orders and hand them a menu. They seem to really make their meals an experience. I didn't eat any of it but it looked appealing; it was presented nicely, and they had a selection of desserts that looked very appetizing. From what I can see, everybody looked happy, and they were eating with more gusto than I expected. It's not the newest nor the most luxurious but I just thought that the way everything was laid out; everything else with the big units, and everything centered around the exterior sitting areas. The service people that I met looked very tidy, and had matching uniforms on.

I was not too impressed here. It was an older facility, and it had a very small theater. The lunch I had was good. The staff was good, but the activities were not as impressive as the others. The apartments did not have a full kitchen, but food is provided there. There's no oven or anything in the apartment, just a refrigerator and counters. The building was nice.

It was a little bit bigger than what my mom wanted. She would have had to walk more than she cared for. They had a lot of little incidental charges that would add up after a while. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed very caring. The rooms they showed me were small, but the bathrooms were too far away from where the bed would be. The floor plans were not to my mother's liking. They had a beauty shop and a full calendar of activities.

It was great, but the rooms were too small. Also, we were looking for a bathtub, but they didn't have tub. Nevertheless, everybody was great. The dining area looked great, and the activities looked great. They have a library, ice cream social, and transportation. They have a huge bulletin board of activities.

It was very nice. I would consider them, but I’ve decided to take care of my husband at home. The staff was very helpful in showing me around and gave me a lot of information. They were nice to talk to. They had independent living, assisted living, and memory care; however, they did not have a nursing home. The atmosphere was so nice, and they had lots of activities for the residents, like exercise, different trips, and a limousine that took them to doctors' appointments, to church, and grocery stores.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I wanted to be as near yo my daughter as I could be, so I opted here because of the location is convenient for me. This is a very good place. Food is excellent and we have three good meals a day. We have transportation service within 15 miles of any place we want to go. We have all kind of activities. We play games like bridge, domino games, bingo, etc. We also have happy hour once a week, movies twice a week, parties, etc. We just have everything we need here in Carriage Inn. What I like best living here is the friendliness between the staff and the residents. I also like my apartment. It is very nice. It is small but wonderful. It has everything that I need. I have a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Carriage Inn is an excellent place to be. They are also building a new facility right across the street. It is for assisted living and Alzheimer's.

My mom and dad moved here in November last year. It was very close to where we live. The whole staff was very friendly and caring. They were in a two-bedroom apartment, which was small, but they both seemed to be okay with that. Food was very good. My dad had to move into another facility for memory care because of dementia, so mom had to move back into their home.

It is like home as far as my mother-in-law is concerned. It's just what she wanted; a small apartment. They provide all the meals, a beauty shop, travel service whenever you need it, and a monitoring system. They turn on little red lights at 5 in the morning in all the apartments in the bathroom. And if the person that lives in there has not turned it off by 10 A.M., they send someone down to check on them to make sure they're okay. They have tons of stuff going on. They do outings Wednesday. But my mother-in-law has some memory issues so we have not encouraged her to leave the facility because she may not be ready for that. They have ice cream socials four times a week, they have movies four nights a week, bingos, games, and they even have happy hour with live music on Friday afternoons. It's pretty cool! I haven't had any issue with them at all.
