My parents have moved into Cedarhurst of Yorkville assisted living and I like the place. I was sold on it. It's a new building and there's also assistance in three wings. The setup is like a square and the fourth wing is for people who need total care. So it's nice because in case something happens to my parents I don't have to relocate them; they can just go to another wing. I eat there and the food is excellent. In the morning they have a menu for breakfast which is like a french toast, or if my folks don't want that they can order eggs and bacon. There's always cereal, juice and drinks, and coffee all the time. For lunches there's always soup and then for the main meal you can order off of the menu if you don't like what's being served; it's the same for supper. They have things like salmon. The meals are really nice. The activities are nice, they have a board in the hallway with activities on it every day, and when the residents come down they can just check the board. They have flower decorating and arranging, and they put them on the tables in the dining room. They do things around Christmas time like decorating cookies, cooking lessons, they have a room that's crafty, and another room with a stove and refrigerator for their cooking classes. In their room they only have a microwave and a refrigerator; there's no stove. They also play bingo, have sing-alongs, they have exercise classes, an exercise room, and a room on the second floor that's like a movie theater. Every night they can watch a movie and there's popcorn. The staff is very friendly, they know my name, and within a week they knew my folks' names. It's very nice and the place itself is lovely. This place is the cream of the crop.

My daughters and I went to Cedarhurst of Yorkville. We had lunch and it was very good. We could pick from a menu. They have several options you can choose from for any meal. We saw a couple of empty rooms, and then a resident graciously let us come in and see one that was furnished. The combinations were lovely. It's built around a courtyard and it offers a lot of entertaining options and group options. The cleanliness was great. It was spotless. The security was very reassuring. The staff spent a lot of time with us, was easy to talk to, very informational, gave us the chance to ask a lot of questions, and gave us information that we thought would be helpful.

We got to visit Cedarhurst of Yorkville. We were able to see the room, and it was quite spacious. For what we are looking for, they didn't have the underground parking that my dad wants. Their resident parking is outside. They just had gardening; they didn't really have any other activities that he would be interested in. The person who showed the place to us was very friendly. We met several different people throughout the building and they were very friendly, too.
