My brother is in Bickford of St. Charles. It is more modern than some other facilities. The interior is modern, with tall ceilings and lots of windows. The upkeep seems fine and adequate. They've had three different head nursing staff, and that's a little challenging, so staffing is always an issue. But there have been some nurses that have been here the whole time, which is good. So there is some stability there as far as them knowing my brother and his needs. They have been inviting my brother to their activities, but he's just been a little crotchety. But it seems he's settled in, comfortable, and content, which is good. The food has been fine. My brother is diabetic, and the few times we've been here, they have not served him dessert. So I complimented and thanked them for not serving him dessert. My brother has a service dog. They allowed the service dog to come, and they helped with getting care for the dog. So that was kind of above and beyond the fact that they take care of the residents and their pets.

I visited Bickford of St. Charles. My daughter toured with me. The staff showed us around and spoke with us for an extended time. She wasn't in any hurry at all. She showed us the memory care. There were people doing games and keeping their mind going. I thought, " Wow. This is awesome." I visited the assisted living, and I was at the memory care, too. They were doing some kind of a game there to keep their memory going. The place was beautiful. They took us to a studio and a one-bedroom. They took us outside. They had a little garden there for the people, and they're growing tomatoes. They will use the tomatoes for their meals. This is just all so important to have a home-like atmosphere, and it definitely was. There was plenty of room for the person to entertain if they wanted to. There was plenty of rooms inside to sit at the table on the second floor, to play games, and to have visitors. The people were so nice. Everybody was so nice. They were really, really nice. However, they have a shorter term for respite care. The place was spotless, and their garden outside was beautiful.

We toured Bickford of St. Charles. It was beautiful, very homey, very clean, and very well maintained. The staff did a phenomenal job. She explained everything that we asked. The dining area was nice, but we did not sample any of the food. They did have a salon a couple of days a week. They had plenty of reading areas. They had television areas, they had a game room set up for table games.

I was accommodated wonderfully at Bickford of St. Charles. They have on staff, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and a podiatrist. They have their own pharmacy, doctors come to visit patients daily if needed. I did not have lunch, but I did have a dessert that the chef made, which was fantastic. It looked like an upscale hotel. It was quite lovely inside. The dining area had beautiful, round wooden tables with soft, cushy chairs for the residents. It looked like it was a restaurant. They have a beauty parlor where you make an appointment and they do your hair. They had little separate rooms that had crafts, and they had their own little TV sitting area with couches and recliners, not just hard cushioned chairs. It looked like somebody's living room where you are going to sit and watch television together. Also, the residents' rooms are very close to that area where it's not like they have to walk hallways to get to where they're going. It's all centrally located to where their rooms are.

My tour experience at Bickford of St. Charles' assisted living was very positive. Beth, the staff, was delightful. She was very enthusiastic, really very helpful, and very inspiring. It felt like a very warm place. It was bright, open, and gave a very warm feeling. The residents looked very happy too. For me, the location is convenient because it's right off the main road so it's easy to get to.

I have already been to Bickford of St. Charles. It's a lovely place. I live in St. Charles, and the community and what they have is just absolutely stunning. It's beautiful. The rooms that they have are roomy. They have a lot of activities for the seniors. They are very cautious. They are allowing, I think, half-hour scheduled visits. I went over the menus and what they're making is very good. It's very, very clean inside. It's three floors, and the activity rooms are nice. The people that I came upon all seemed to be very happy. They're all very positive. If things would work out for my husband, I think it would be a top choice. They have memory care but my husband does not have dementia and he does not have Alzheimer's. He would need heavy care. The rooms are so nice and roomy. They have a ringer where they could pull the alarm if they need help with anything. There's like three separate pull chains depending on what room they're in, which I was impressed with. It's not like they're just there, there were a lot of assistance people there. I would move in there myself if I ever needed to.

My wife moved into Bickford of St. Charles around October. The staff is nice and informative, the rooms are very nice, and when she checked in, it was painted in the color she wanted. It's a very nice facility. The dining room is okay, but the food is the weakest part of the whole place, some days it's good, and some days it's not so good. It's a little bit above average, but it's not bad. She goes to a book club once in a while, and she goes to exercise, but they have many to choose from. We're pleased and satisfied with it.

My mother-in-law has been in Bickford of St. Charles for two months now. The place is very nice. The staff members seem very helpful and very informative. With any questions, they get back with an answer right away. My mother-in-law says the food is good. There are only a few things she doesn't like, but it is very nice. My mother-in-law wasn't involved in a lot of activities. However, since the other residents have been coaxing her into going to group exercise and to some other things, she is getting a little more involved. The room we got for my mother-in-law is a studio. It is a sitting-bedroom all in one with a small kitchenette. It has a small refrigerator and a microwave. She has a full-size double door closet for clothes and storage. However, the bathroom would be better with a couple of drawers. She has a sink but underneath of it is all open. The staff members are always very helpful, very friendly and any issues. They respond fairly quickly to any of questions or any needs that she would have or I would have. They seem very good. They won't do anything without a prescription through the doctor.

Bickford of St. Charles was probably one of my top choices. I thought it was a very friendly and welcoming place. The staff was very nice, and the people were engaged when we went there a couple of times. They had someone in charge of the activities.

My mother was ready to leave her apartment and we started looking at facilities around the western suburbs of Chicago. We looked at two Bickford facilities, both of which were excellent. During our visits the staff was very friendly and informative. One thing I notice right away the staff always spoke to the residence and called them by name. Something I did not see at other places. We eventually settled on the Bickford of St Charles, IL and could not be more pleased with the decision. It is no longer an assisted living facility but a warm and caring home for my mother. They have a full day of activities with something for everyone. The food may be too good as my mother has but on a little too much weight. The staff at St Charles is very good and they all know my mother which is obvious when I talk to them. The home is kept in top condition and is always decorated in season. This location sponsors periodic events for the entire family and they do an excellent job with these family occasions. The Bickford of St Charles has been an excellent home and has been instrumental in making the transition from apartment living to assisted living painless for my mother. I highly recommend any of the Bickford homes and especially the St Charles location.

I visited Bickford. It was beautiful but very expensive. The staff was very nice. The rooms were beautiful and bigger than the one in the other place I visited. It was new and really nice.

I toured Bickford of St. Charles. It was a very nice place. It was very clean. I don’t see why one wouldn’t go there or could have any kind of complaints being there. One of the women took us on a tour, and she pretty much showed us everything. They had people in the exercise room. Because my father has dementia, we were more interested in that section -- which was kind of separate. The dining room was really nice. It kind of reminded you of going to a really nice hotel.

I would say Bickford of St. Charles is the best. It’s a beautiful building with lots of activities displayed so that people will know what’s available for them to do. They also allow family members and pets to drop in and be there with the residents at any time. They provide transportation to doctors, but you have to let them know ahead of time since they're available twice a week. They have a doctor, a nurse there, and they have a podiatrist on site. There are so many different things that are good about it, and the residents all seem to be happy and friendly.

I went to Bickford of St. Charles for my dad. I was very impressed with the person I met there. I was also impressed with the facilities, and how they help the residents to maintain as good a memory as long as possible. She showed us that they actually monitor the response to call light, and I thought that was very impressive. The facility was very clean too.

Bickford is a beautiful place, and it's like being in a hotel. Most of them have their own rooms, some of them are double, and they do have a special section for dementia. They have different places to sit, and it's just like a home where you're not stuck in one area. The people seemed nice but there wasn't as much action there. They were pretty much leaving people to do whatever they wanted, I didn't really see anybody playing cards, or sitting down to watch TV. The dining area was beautiful, and they had a menu, so they had a choice, like going into a restaurant and placing an order from a menu.

The staff at Bickford of St. Charles was extremely friendly and very helpful. The place itself was very nice; more like a home rather than a hotel feel. At the time we were there, there wasn't any planned activity, but they gave us the tour. They have an activity room and beautiful meeting rooms. They have a lot of cozy corners where people can sit and do the puzzle thing, a whole game room where they could play pool, or use up the gambling table to play cards; it was just a very pleasant experience. My sister-in-law has a really bad dementia and needs assisted living. At that time, they were completely booked and what they showed us was a guest room that was already furnished. There's a room that is becoming available at the end of the year that we have gone ahead and signed for. We've seen that room empty, and they're in the process of painting and cleaning it for her. We have decided this is the place she is going.

Bickford of St. Charles seemed very clean. The rooms were good size. They had lots of activities. They were very comparable with the other facility. Their facilities and their programs that they had for the residents, I saw them very similar with the other facility. However, it was closer to where my sister lives and it seemed more in the style that my dad would enjoy.

Bickford is very nice. My parents are very comfortable there. They have different outings that they go on and have their games. They just do a lot of activities. They’ve only been there for about a month, but they’re adjusting quite well.

I visited Bickford of St Charles. I would say they have more living room spaces than the other facility I visited, but when I went to the other facility, they knew more people and greeted them by name. Here in Bickford, they would either pass them by or they might say hi but not by name. The rooms and dining rooms were wonderful. They have larger rooms. The dining room is just as nice. They let you taste one of their little muffins which were very good. It is a nice little setup. They kept in contact with me quite a few times.

It is for my father-in-law, and the name of the community is Bickford. We chose it because of cost and location. I am undecided about the staff working there right now since there doesn't seem to be enough of them. The room is very nice. He does have a spacious room. He does not participate in the activities though. I would recommend it, and as a matter of fact, I'm thinking of moving my own dad from an assisted living location to this one. As for food, they have very small portions and almost too much variety. People with dementia don't need a whole lot of options because it only confuses them. They need to pay a little bit more attention to the residents.

My father had his respite care at Bickford for two weeks and it went pretty good. The only thing was that they ordered eye drops for him in the middle of the night for $50 and it could have waited in the morning for less charge. One evening he said was cold and I knew we were supposed to bring our own blanket because we knew they don't have blankets and they weren't too helpful with that. But the facility was nice and it was pretty new. They had activities like exercise, transportation and trips. Overall, it was a good experience.
