Alden Gardens of Waterford seems like they have different buildings for the people. The assisted living must be in one, their nursing home in another, and their memory care in another area. It's older and I thought the room was tiny; mom's stuff would never fit in there. The price was expensive. The view was great because it looked over the waterfall and there were some swans. But the impression we got was that it's a lot smaller and expensive. My mom needs medication management, too, so that would increase the price. And she has a queen-sized bed that would never fit in there; not even a regular-sized couch would fit. The meals are included. The staff members were really nice, but my mom was very unimpressed, because the lady responsible for showing the place came out in shorts and very casual wear. It didn't bother me, but my mom was like, "No, they're not very professional." The carpeting was older. The library was very tiny; it was just a bookcase with some books on it. It was kind of an open area, so they didn't have a separate room for it. You walked in and it was an open lobby with the greeter's desk, and when you walked a little bit into it, there was a library kind of thing and some chairs and stuff. So it was just an older place, and it's not worth $6500-to-$7000 a month for that kind of kind of care.

My mother stayed at Alden Gardens for 10 days for respite care. The place was great, but her room wasn't cleaned the whole time she was there, so it ended up pretty dirty, but the staff was wonderful, the girls in the dining area were helpful. She has nothing negative to say, except she never wanted to go back again. I thought the food was great. She was in an efficiency apartment and had enough room for her. It had a little kitchenette area and an alcove for the bed. It's a little pricey.

Alden Gardens of Waterford would definitely rank up there. However, it was more expensive. We didn't choose it, but the amenities looked very good. The apartments were good as well. The staff members were at the same level; they were very good too.

Alden Gardens of Waterford was a very good place. They were very professional. I visited the memory care unit, and they were very skilled at their approach to taking care of their residents. The rooms were very spacious, well kept up, the patients had a lot of privacy, and they're very nice. Most of them were private, and there were semi-private, but they're very big nice rooms. The grounds were very well kept up, and the place was one of the better ones around the area.

1000.00 a month increase with one month notice. 15 months ago was a 500. A month raise.. This is a wonderful place but new management feel they can raise rates at their convenience. This is raises for the small studio. The staff is wonderful and rooms are clean.

My mother lived at Alden Gardens of Waterford, and it was wonderful. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The rooms were wonderful and didn't have a lot of space but were clean, updated, nice and well kept. If you had a problem, they'd come right away to fix it. The grounds were beautiful. It was a perfect place for seniors to live. They took them to stores. Next to the assisted living, they had a great, little restaurant. It's all right there for you.

Alden Gardens of Waterford was very, very nice and clean with good food and nice land around it in a good location. The rooms were nice and had kitchenettes, but didn't look adequate for really cooking in the rooms. The atmosphere was good and positive.

Alden Gardens was clean, there’s plenty of staff, excellent dining, a lot of activities, and the area is on a safe neighborhood. It was not in a busy area. They have a chef.

Upon visiting this residential location, the order, cleanliness, and general friendliness of the staff in the building were immediately apparent. The residents seem very happy and busy. The activities that are provided seem engaging and beyond what I've seen at other assisted living facilities. Religious opportunities are provided and encouraged along with a great sense of community. The location for the facility is in the nicer part of this suburb of Chicago and located near a hospital, but also near plenty of activities. The opportunities for interaction with family in the area is also great, since access to the rest of Chicagoland is easy. Overall, there is a sense of serenity and peace, but not in a foreboding sense as I've encountered elsewhere. Rather, in a way that is conducive to enjoying a stress-free life. Though I visited a friend's grandparents, the interactions that I had with the staff were very positive and the general happiness on the grounds is very high.
