I live in Discovery Village At Castle Hills and I'm getting my meals here. The food is good. On Sundays, it's brunch from 10:30 until 1:30. Yesterday, they had two people set up and made omelets for you and you tell them what you want on it. It's really good. They put in ham, bacon, mushrooms, and onions. Everything is really chopped up and they put it in the oven. Then you go through a line and make your own breakfast, sort of like an ala carte. On the other line, they have bagels, wheat bread, and regular bread. Then you pull out a little drawer to take whatever you want out and push it back in. Then they have biscuits and gravy, and next to it is a whole lot of bacon. My room is nice. It's huge for a one-bedroom with walls and doors to separate everything. The bathroom is also nice. There are walk-in closets for storage. It's very clean, but when I used the bathroom and was on the toilet, the view was of a cockroach. It crawled into the bathroom towards me and I freaked out. They have a concierge at the front desk and they're very helpful. Everybody that I've met is very nice. They have a steel name tag so everybody can see everybody's name, and that's nice. I can say hi to them and say their name. They are so friendly and they smile at you. When you go down to the dining room, there's a greeter there and she takes your order. Every week, they give you a menu. If you were to take your food to go, they have a little area next to the person you take your menu from and you can wait there, and it doesn't take long enough. We have a schedule of all the activities. They have a room where you can go work out on a bicycle or on several weights. They told me they have physical therapy in the facility if you want to sign up for it. They have bingo and an outdoor swimming pool, too.

My parents-in-law will be moving into Discovery Village at Castle Hills. The thing I like most is that they have a really good blend of assistance for my father-in-law and independence for my mother-in-law. I like that they have onsite PT and OT services. They have a heated pool and a kitchen set up like a restaurant. It feels more accessible than cafeteria-like. The concierge and all of the staff have been really helpful and accommodating. I've only tried their homemade potato chips, and they were delicious.

I'm planning to choose Discovery Village at Castle Hills. I like that it's light, it's bright, and it has absolutely everything I was looking for. The staff was so helpful, so thorough, and really showed us what they have. We didn't try the food yet, but I saw some people eating and the food looked really good. The facility was awesome, and they have wonderful security there, unlike some of the other places I've toured. They had amenities like a swimming pool, library, bistro, movie theater, they have painting classes, and fitness and exercise programs.

My mother will be moving into Discovery Village At Castle Hills. My mom loved the food because we got to have lunch there. She loves the fact that if she doesn't like something, they'll get her something else. She likes the view from her room because she's getting a corner of an apartment. My daughter-in-law's grandmother lives there too, so she's moving in with somebody she already knows. The facility was very clean. The staff members were very friendly. While we were eating lunch, we were both impressed when we realized that the executive director came and introduced himself. It seems like a family-oriented staff. Almost everything is included in the rent.

Discovery Village at Castle Hills is a beautiful place. They have carports, but no garages. It's fairly new, so everything was very, very clean. Their dining room looked like a restaurant. It was individual tables with tablecloths for four. They also had another room where they had what they call cocktail hour. They also use that room in the morning when they serve bagels, or in the afternoon they have cookies or something like that. They have libraries. It's very clean. Everything is very polished there. None of them had big kitchens, but they had dishwashers and garbage disposals. They had closets, pantries, and a place for a washer and a dryer. They had the hookups and everything already there. They're good at their job. All these people have been well trained. The staff member during the tour was a pro. She's been in the business for many years, and she moved there because it's a brand-new place. She had worked at all kinds of places. She had a lot of experience. She was great. There are no slouches in these jobs, and I'm impressed. It's a beautiful building. They're not an old place, so everything was spic and span. They are outstanding about taking your trash out, so you never see any debris or anything around any of them. They are exceptionally clean. I didn't see many places to go out and walk outside though. They had a small gym, but it was very small. I'm a walker and I walk for my health just about every day. All out in front were parking places, so I didn't see any space outside. Most of the other places have trails or something like that, but I didn't see that there.

When I first walked into Discovery Village At Castle Hills, I felt that it's a very warm and friendly place. The apartment has a full kitchen, so if I decide to cook, I can. Everybody was so friendly and helpful to, and it was the right place because I had been to a couple of others and I didn't get that same feeling that I got there. There were about three of the staff that explained things to me and helped get the lease signed. They invited me to stay for a happy hour, but I don't drink anything when I'm going to drive. So, I didn't stay. There's a party for new residents tomorrow afternoon and I plan to attend that. I'm looking forward to their activities, like their water aerobics, chair Zumba, and chair yoga. All the administrative staff and the lady that does the water aerobics, were just very helpful in giving me information when I ask questions. I have not tried the food yet, but I have asked if they could provide a salt-free diet, and the chef told me that they could. Normally, you order from a menu then they have things that are set up, but if you don't like those choices, you can order from a menu like a restaurant, and I like that idea. There are also tablecloths on the tables which made it feel very elegant in the dining room. It just seemed like a good fit for me. There is a pool, exercise rooms, a movie theater, which all look inviting. There's a lot of places where people can gather too. If I wanted to invite my children to have dinner with me, there's a private dining room and there's also a larger room where you could have a private party, which I thought was very nice. The public rooms are all furnished very well. The furniture is not worn and it's very tastefully done. I had been totally against going to a retirement community, but I just like the place.

Stonebridge at Castle Hills only does independent living; they don't do assisted living. It's basically an older people type apartment complex. My dad REALLY likes it there. He likes his apartment on the third floor and the gated security building with interior entrances. You need to have a card key to get in after hours, and parking is behind a locked-in, secured gate that you have to have access to. Not just anyone can come into the property after hours. I also like its proximity to where I live, so if he has any issues I can easily run up there. In addition, it's along the highway; because he still works, it's easy for him to come and go. The people are really nice. They're always available; they're not rushed or anything. I see my dad talking with some people who are there to meet and greet. They changed the manager that had been there for only 3 months. I think that he was coming from Forth Worth to Lewisville, and they had a property in Forth Worth; that's definitely it. We haven't met the new GM, so I can't speak for him. They have an activity room. They do puzzles, computers, sometimes outings (since my dad works, he usually misses the outings) and barbeques. They also have a hair salon, pool table, pool, and movie theater (but I don't know if he watches there). I personally think that they should have covered parking on a first-come first-serve basis; that's just because who wants their car to sit in the sun on a hot Texas summer day? They have covered parking, but it's on a reserved basis, and we didn’t get it for my dad.

Stonebridge at Castle Hills appeared to be really good. Unfortunately, they only take two animals and I had three pets. I would move there if not for the pet policy.
