The rooms on the rehab unit are ridiculously small with poor temperature regulation. Patients who are less independent are left alone for long periods of time and the staff does not check in regularly to see if they are okay. Usually there is one nurse responsible for the whole unit with a few aides. Bell are ringing with long response times. Poor attention to safety measures where patient’s bed left in high positions unattended. Therapy and activities are not regular or on a schedule. Staff did not educate the patients or their families regarding the amenities that they have available.

The staff is uncaring and unavailable. There was practically no help for my paralyzed aunt. There were no staff available to take patients to and from the few activities available. There was no brushing of teeth, no help with toilet needs, no help with the phones, and staff at the nurses' stations never answered their phones. Her clothes were mostly lost by the laundry.

My mother is at The Willows At Ramapo Rehab And Nursing Center for rehabilitation. It's very clean. It has been lovely and wonderful. They have been just amazing. The staff is excellent. They have been delightful. They take good care of my mother. She seems well cared for. She is in a shared room, which is very clean. They always have something going on. There are music and open areas. They have just sent an invitation for the Christmas party so we can spend Christmas there. It has been lovely. It's a good experience so far.

My wife was sent to Willows of Ramapo by her doctor. Of course she was not happy going as she was afraid she would never leave. From the time she arrived via ambulance, she was greeted by first class people. Brought into her room which was spotless. The next day they started to work with her, three times a day. The entire time she was there, I would be there from 12 noon till 6PM. I saw the food she was given, made me hungry. She said everything was very good. As for the staff, you couldn't ask for better care. Everyone had a smile and couldn't do enough to help you. The activities thye have for everyone are great. My wife enjoyed them as they kept her mind active. And you can not forget Jonathan. This young man is the best. Such a humble young man. Very concerned that everyone is comfortable and their needs are taken care of. When two of my wife's friends went to visit her, they came to me and said they thought they had the wrong place when they entered. They thought they were in a 5 star hotel. I and my family along with my wife can not thank each and every member of the staff for the care they gave my wife during her stay at Willows of Ramapo. My wife is on the road to recovery thanks to these people. God Bless each and everyone of them.

My 21 year old daughter stayed at Ramapo Manor Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing for 3 months. She has a TBI. I was so pleased with the treatment she received while she was there. The place is extremely neat and clean. The food is amazing. Everyone there has a smile on their face, from the front desk, the nurses, aides to the therapists. Jonathan, the Director of Concierge greets you when you come and makes sure that you have everything you need. He is basically the "fix it" guy. If you have a problem or need something he is your man. The nurses are all so nice and extremely patient, as are all of the aides. A few patients are extremely demanding and mean to the staff and I wondered how they all stayed so nice, I don't think I could have. Dale is part of the activities team (they are all young and full of energy). He is such a great guy. He came to my daughter's room to bring her to the many activities that are offered there. My daughter enjoyed bingo, painting, coloring, disco bowling, balloon volleyball, glee club, massages, crafts, cooking class, parties, and so much more. The therapists are also amazing. Lauren is a speech therapist and a really sweet person. She worked closely with my daughter and also became friends with her. The physical therapists got my daughter walking with minimal help, helped her use a walker, helped her to stand, sit, get into bed and out and gave her the confidence to stand tall and to be proud of her accomplishments. Her occupational therapists helped my daughter to do everyday tasks like brush her teeth, get dressed, wash herself, feed herself, brush her hair, etc. You just don't realize how much help someone needs or what they need to learn until you see the therapists in action and how far your loved one progresses. There were many tears on my part when we left because I felt like I was leaving my family. I appreciate each and every person at Ramapo that entered my daughter's life. My daughter's aide "my favorite", as she called my daughter and my daughter called her, treated my daughter as if she were her own. She is truly a loving and caring woman. The social worker Tara was always there to help, she's friendly and always smiling. Now that my daughter is home, I really miss everyone even more because I realize how much they did for my daughter. I know this is long but I truly having nothing but praise for Ramapo Manor and all the people that work there. Thank you so much for taking such good care of my daughter!

My dad’s experience at Ramapo Manor has been pretty good, so far. They are undergoing renovation at this time. The staff is caring. Their activities impressed me the most because they have bingo and church services. The food and dining area are fine.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I had knee replacement surgery & went to Ramapo rehab. from August 2nd to August 8, 2013. It was a nightmare from the 1st day. When I arrived at Ramapo they did not have my pain meds or my regular medications I take daily. I did not get any meds until the next day. Some of the aides did not know how to get a surgical patient out of bed to go to the bathroom. Would you believe me if I tell you that one aide suggested I wear a dipper so that she wouldn't have to help me up. What an insult. One morning I rang for the nurse at 6:00am to ask to go to the bathroom, she finally came in at 7:40. I never ate any of their vile food, it was always ice cold. Even my morning coffee was ice. My husband had to bring me my breakfast, lunch & dinner. They even forgot to bring me a dinner tray one lunch time and dinner time. I didn't say anything because I didn't eat their food anyway. Now for my experience with physical therapy, another nightmare. I had a therapist by the name of Maricio D. he was new at the facility. All he did for me was walk me up & down the halls, which my husband could have done. He would put me on the knee machine about an hour before he left for the day. I had to stay on for 4 hours. My husband had to take me off the machine when he brought me my dinner. I could go on & on, but I think you have an idea of what I went through. Lots of luck if you are considering going to Ramapo Manor.
