My only negative is not the fault of the facility, but logistics, I wanted a home nearer to our home so we could continue to visit with her 2o 3 times a week. This did not happen, so we ended up at West Caldwell Care. I must say that knowing she is being well taken care of when we are not there is a blessing. The recreation staff is keeping her "entertained" and the nursing staff is seeing to it that she is well cared for. Whenever we go to she her she is dressed, and clean. as is her room and bedding. I was not impressed with West Caldwell Cc. I'm not a fan. To be honest, when you walked in, it had a very lovely lobby area, but I thought there were a lot of things that needed to be redone. The patients' rooms were decent but minimal. Not over and beyond. There were a lot of odors going on in there. The staff seemed very friendly. But the last thing I want to do walking through a nursing home is to smell urine or beds that aren't clean or rooms that aren't cleaned. I recognize that things happen and that we're dealing with people who have incontinence and things of that nature, but it just didn't feel like a place where the staff members were on top of that. So first and foremost, they need to be concerned about the cleanliness of the location. If you're having people come in and do tours or they want to check out the facilities for their loved ones, you shouldn't be dealing with odors of any kind.

I was at West Caldwell Care Center for rehab and the people were nice. They treated me very well and took care of me. They came in and cleaned my room including the bathroom. They would change my bedclothes and my linen as well. I liked the food. They gave me three hot meals a day. They'd give me a list and then I could choose from the list what I wanted to eat. It wasn't just getting what was for the day. I had three or four different choices and I put on weight there. It's beautiful outside because they had me walk around the outside of the building to see how I did my breathing and oxygen levels and things like that. Even during my physical therapy, every time I would do something, they would check my oxygen level.

I removed my mother from this facility after she suffered for 5 months with a wound. The staff failed to keep her dry and turn her regularly. As a result, she needed to be seen at the Wound Care Center. Each time her wound healed it opened back up. Enough was enough, I brought her home! Her disposition and health improved dramatically! No more wounds, she was changed regularly throughout the day, instead of once when she was dressed in the morning and was not changed again until she was put in bed in the evening ...hence wound! She never needed pain meds instead of the daily 2x a day 625mg of tylenol and pain patches. She was no longer anxious, she returned to her talkative and pleasant personality that she once had. If you have to place your loved one here, check on them regularly! Don't be fooled, drop in late at night and on the weekends. Check to see if your loved one is going on trips or attended to at resident events. I wish I had never put my mom in this facility but am appreciative of the few aides that truly cared about my mom. If only there were more of them!

It seems as if the staff does not want to be here and management is incapable of matching requests and needs. My family member sat on their bed pan for two hours, with a nurse who was fully aware and provided no assistance. We have also requested an aide who was familiar with her condition and how to handle her; instead we were given a new aide every single day, none in which knew how to specifically care for her.

ails Low morale, high turnover and incapable management! Long term care is horrendous. The weekends are reminiscent of a horror show. They pull dietary aides to cover for CNAs that call our sick! I've seen it all in three months! The State should do a surprise inspection on any weekend! Staffing levels are always less than the required minimum. If you're planning to bring you're loved one here, visit during the weekends or evenings when they're at their "best
