In my opinion I believe the facility was well run and the staff was very pleasant. This of course is before the pandemic and since we are not permitted visitation I cannot comment for the current situation. My understanding is that the building was built in the 1960's so the outside is brick which never gets old. My relative's room was ok but other wings were being renovated and they look very nice. Of course I would like to see my relative in a beautiful room but the way she is treated and cared for are much more important.

My husband is in Troy Hills Center, it was horrible. The care was horrible. They're completely understaffed and they just come in any time they want. When the other community's assessment came in, they didn't even have him up and out of bed and it was after noon. When we finally got therapy there, that would be the only good thing about it. Once we've started, the therapy was very, very good. Other than that, the help is not good. When we said that we were picking him up tomorrow, Troy Hills called me and said, "Oh, I just want to know. I ordered you an ambulance." I didn't tell them to do that, my son is picking him up. And just today he's getting a wheelchair, walker, commode, and all that stuff delivered to his new community, but it's in the middle of my house, and that's all Troy Hills doing. I would only rate the therapist a 5, but the rest of the staff is a 1. He was supposed to go for an MRI and I wrote it down that it was supposed to be on Wednesday, but they did it Tuesday. They have all his medical records for Aetna, but they made me do all the calling. The only activities they have are bingo and sometimes karaoke, other than that they just sat there and did nothing. For the price we're paying, the room isn't good value. They had two big dining rooms that because of COVID they weren't using. But on Father's Day, they opened up the diners, and I didn't even know they had this beautiful deck on the side with chairs. I was paying $12,570 a month there for what he got while for the new facility, I'm paying $8000.

The facility is filthy and the physical therapy is a total joke. Long term residents just sit inside a dirty, badly lit room all day and and most of the aides are on their phones. The aides who are caring can not pick up the slack and the administration does not care, they are only interested in how much they can charge Medicare ! When our family member was there she was actually afraid to ask for help because she said that then no one would come at night! In addition they ignored her condition worsening and kept telling us she was “crazy”. The “leader of the pack” is the head of physical therapy so watch out! The sad part is what they tell the doctor is what the doctor believes so our family member suffered for weeks until being hospitalized . Once there the hospital staff was appalled by the neglect she had suffered as were we. Please do not subject anyone you love to this institution!

My mother has been a patient for many years. I have read some of the comments in other reviews. I am very pleased with care and attention my mom receives on a daily basis. If I thought for one second that the facility was dirty or the staff was uncaring I would have taken her to another facility. I realize how hard it is to have a loved one in a nursing center but, if you are faced with that situation take a tour of the facility. Speak with some staff and residents. I could not be happier and grateful to have my loved one in their care. I would highly recommend!

I am very pleased with the services provided to my mother. Everyone was very nice and I had a great experience. The facility could be updated a bit. All the staff was very pleasant and cared about my mom. I realize that they have a difficult job and I appreciate the fact that they were so understanding and caring. The therapy was wonderful! I had one concern that Administration handled immediately. I am thankful that I found Troy Hills Center and would highly recommend!!

This is the worst nursing home. DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HERE IF YOU CAN HELP IT. The facility is dirty and the care they give the residents is less than adequate. The nurses including the unit managers are inadequate and have attitudes. All they are concerned about is “CYA”. The administration is the same if not worse. The Aids just sit around. They let my mother die without contacting the family until the next day. They knew she was failing the day before. It’s not the first time a resident has passed on yet they failed to follow through on instruction in letting the family know. It is unacceptable to find out the next day your mother passed and is in the funeral home. It’s not morally right what they did and the whole situation was mishandled. It was a disrespect to my mother and our family. What kind of ugly human beings are they? I would never recommend this facility to my worst enemy.

I would never go to another rehab center. The food was delicious, My family was kept in the loop and I was treated very well by all the staff. Therapy and nursing is the best!

This facility is on a downward spiral. Staff is minimal and residents needs are not met on a timely basis. Cleanliness is not a priority here. Sadly, when you see what needs are not being met for the residents it is a fear for the things you don't see. Could be vastly improved if more staff were hired and the administration came out of their offices and were a visible presence.

Do not send your family member here. If you have no choice, then you must go everday to make sure they are getting the right food and the care they need and deserve. It took weeks to get them to give my family member the right food, and it caused him to miss many meals. God forbid you needed a nurse for something. They almost all have attitudes and act like they are being bothered. What a terrible joke. These are people near the end who deserve respect and care. May God show mercy on you all for your how you treat these poor, helpless people.

My husband is a resident. Staff seems unable to comprehend what a resident is capable of doing or not capable of doing. They seem unaware of the fact that he is dressing and undressing himself,is able to walk with a cane and does not have dementia or memory loss. He goes to the bathroom unassisted because it can take up to an hour to get someone to help him. I am being treated as if I lack intelligence and I can provide just as good care at home as he is currently getting there.

Troy Hills Center is a little older than what I expected. The facility could use some updating, but the people are very nice and the staff is very friendly; it's just that the facility is old. Right now, my mother is there, but my sister feels that she would be better off in her house with her. I wouldn’t mind her to stay in the facility, but unfortunately, my sister feels differently. She is in a semi-private room that is a little small for a two-bedroom, and the bathrooms are a little dated. I like the staff very much, and they are very accommodating; if you need a specific diet or anything, they will accommodate you. It is very bland food because obviously they keep it low-sodium and all that, so it is geared for the elderly. My mother doesn’t complain about the food, so I guess it is OK. They have bingo and bean toss, which my mother participate in.

My dad raves about the food at Troy Hills Center. He loves the food, which is great. When you walk in, you have a feeling that you are in a hospital, but the staff makes it a lot better. They are really nice. They sort of distract you from the sight. It is an older building, but they do what they can. They need to modernize it a little bit.
