My mom was at Family of Caring Montclair for rehab for a month. I love this place. I just wish they were bigger and that they had more beds available. The place was immaculate. They constantly clean the place. They constantly did things to make Mom feel comfortable. The place was spotless. The nurses were all so caring literally and figuratively. They treated my mom like she was family. They had activities for the residents. They brought people in to do different things with them. But mostly, it was geared towards their therapeutic recovery and occupational therapies. It was very helpful for my mom because she had to get acclimated to walking again. They made sure she always had something on her feet to make sure that she wasn't going to fall. They had nurses come in and check different things. Mom is going through dementia, so they had things in place for dementia care, too. It was just a great all-around spot, and I loved the location and the people there. The biggest thing was the cleanliness and that's important. It didn't matter what time of day or what hour it was that I was there, they always made sure that there was someone cleaning up. Whether it was cleaning the rooms, picking up food trays, making sure the patients were clean, or whatever it was, there was always someone doing that.

My sister Laura has been at this facility twice. At the beginning our interactions with the staff was a little difficult however, after a meeting with Kim,Director of Nursing, who is very good. Our Social Worker, Victoria, the physical therapists Estella, and Judy everything has been working very well. I have to add that you have excellent physical therapists, they know their work and they care for the patients. Victoria is an excellent person and worker. She is very efficient at taking care of the needs of the residents at Family of Caring. The staff in charge of the amenities is also great. They inform the residents about all the activities for the residents to enjoy. I am definitely recommending this place for people who need heath care for a long or short term. The whole staff is absolutely outstanding! Keep up the great work. Olga

I would tell family members to keep a close eye on your loved one if staying at this facility. My mother suffered while staying here and I did not realize the extent until after she returned home. It's very sad.

The service at Van Dyk Manor is very good. The workers are pretty efficient, it is sort of a kind place, and they are nice to the people who live there. They have good service, so it is pretty good. The sanitation is fine. Food is decent; it is not great, but it is good. My mom's been there for rehab.

Van Dyk Manor is in the next town over from where my aunt lived, and two years prior to that, she had broken several ribs, it was required that she go into a rehab facility, and they happened to have been recommended. She was in a semi-private room in rehab. We were overall absolutely pleased with the facility and the care my aunt got, and the staff was amazing, from the doctor who was in charge to the nursing staff to the non-nursing staff, financial staff, kitchen staff, and the hospice staff also. It was just a very positive stay for her. They were very open and available to us all the time for any questions that we had. If we needed a consult, they made it a point to make us an appointment or else to physically track us down in my aunt's room to come up and speak with us. They had games, a large screen TV, a piano, and a little snack room. One time my mom was visiting, the facility let them use one of their little sitting rooms, and they brought them tea and sandwiches and treats. They're just kind of over the top with what they were able to do not only for their patients but for their family members also. The kitchen director actually came up to her room one day wanting to make sure if she had any special requests for food. My aunt did pass at the facility. They were very gracious. They contacted the funeral home directly, they were very good at gathering up her personal items, and my mother was able to pick them up at her convenience. There was no rush and no push for things like that; it was definitely positive.
