Westerville is a city located in the heart of Ohio and has a population of nearly 40,000 residents, one in five of whom is 65 years or older. The state of Ohio has the sixth highest rate of Alzheimer's disease in the country, with roughly 220,000 people living with the condition.
To support those with dementia, Ohio has memory care facilities which may either be housed in an independent, freestanding structure or within existing assisted living facilities. There are three memory care facilities in Westerville, and another 20 facilities can be found in surrounding cities such as Worthington, Columbus and Gahanna. These facilities, as well as all memory care facilities in the state, are licensed by the Ohio Department of Health.
