For 10 of our last 12 years, I was my wife's sole caregiver. Over the years my responsibilities as a husband and caregiver grew steadily until I was on-duty 168 hours a week. Our three children offered all the help they could, but the nearest one lived 700 miles away. We were alone, and I had only one chance to do it right the first time. My family pleaded with me to "find some time for myself", so, reluctantly I brought in to help for 8 hours a week so that I could explore looking for a place where my wife would be SAFE, COMFORTABLE, HAPPY AND LOVED. I must have visited 13, or more, places before I found Esther's Place. There I found a home-like environment where everyone became family. There I found an experienced staff that quickly focused on my wife's likes and avoided her dislikes. Each of the residents had their own, comfortable, bedroom and bath that could be decorated in a way that would remind them of home. Meals were served family style and social interaction between residents was encouraged. The staff was never more than 20 feet away from the residents. During my wife's two year stay the staff would keep me up-to-date and informed about my wife's needs and condition. Our children and my wife's sisters were, at first, worried about "putting" their mom, or their sister "in the home". But, in each instance, all of them quickly changed their minds on one visit. Ester's Place is a high quality residential setting where love, caring and gentle understanding of all of its residents come first, all the time.

- Special Comment: Esther’s Place is a legacy of love. Esther Pyle, an amazing woman, who even in her late nineties wanted to live as independently as possible. Her daughter purchased a ranch-style home on two-and-a-half acres of land on Sinclair Road in north Columbus. The home was remodeled to provide a place where her mother and other seniors like her could live independently.

Esther's Place, without doubt has been the biggest blessing. The personal touches and caring nature of everyone at Esther's is amazing. They have gone over and above with our loved one's care, up to and including providing a support animal. There is no other place that would fit for our purposes. There is a small family atmosphere that is unparalleled. We couldn't be happier. One of the girls actually made a scrap/memory book for our loved one.

Esther’s Place has been the best possible care option for my dear friend who needed to move from her home 3 years ago due to memory problems. The staff has been loving and kind, even surprising her with gifts and accommodating her with the back rubs she so loves. Meals are prepared from scratch, the home looks like a family home, is very clean and nicely furnished. The cost is more affordable than other similar places. Esther’s Place is convenient to get to and has ample parking. Friends and family are warmly welcomed and encouraged to visit. The staff and manager have gone above and beyond to consider my friend’s individual personality and needs and keep me, as her POA, well informed of any physical, emotional or behavioral changes they observe. There are grounds with mature trees that my friend enjoys walking on and a back patio sitting area to enjoy the outdoors. The addition of a small dog to the residence has provided a source of stimuli and support that has been so important to my friend. The Connection Church is right next door. This has been an added bonus and has enhanced her support system. Having experienced 5 different facilities in the past when my mom began having memory issues, I saw a huge advantage to the small home environment facilities versus larger institutional ones, especially for memory care. It is easier to adjust to a home setting than a large place would be, the staff can keep eyes on each resident much more readily and assist as needed, and there is more opportunity for personal attention and for the resident to establish familiarity and trust. I am so grateful that Esther’s Place was there when I needed to find care for my friend, it has met her needs perfectly.

Located in a home that is warm and inviting. Both the front and back yard are like a spacious park with mature trees. There is a warm and caring staff of long term employees with not a lot of turnover. Esther's Place offers large, pleasant bedrooms and good pricing. There is plentiful food and residents can request the foods they would like.
