I visited this facility

The people I met at the Indian Oaks Assisted Living were very nice. However, the hallways to the room were so narrow that you couldn't even walk past or around someone in a wheelchair. If you got all the people trying to go to their dinner and someone is walking really slow, they can't walk past them and have to wait until that person can get all the way down the long hallway just to get out of the way. The rooms were adequate at best though. There's bingo and some sort of activities that they do. The bathroom down the hall was shared by men and women; and it was not going to work for my mom.

I visited this facility

I toured Indian Oaks Assisted Living. The appearance looked good to me. The only issue that I had was that even if my mom had the money to be there, the hallway was a little bit too small for, say, a wheelchair or a walker. If they were to be walking back and forth, I feel that the hallways were too small. The beauty salon didn't have its own separate little room and it looked like it was off of the hallway. It didn't have any doors or anything and looked like it was just added there. I felt that that was a little too small of an area. But overall, it felt good, and it felt like the employees knew their residents; that's good to know. The feel was good, and family orientated. They had a little picnic and stuff. It was nice. The person that assisted us was very courteous, very informative, and it was a very nice visit. I felt the dining area was a good size.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Please do not put your loved ones here. We unfortunately had to place my grandmother somewhere during these pandemic times. We understood that times are tough and staff is worn down. BUT that is NOT an excuse to how they neglected my grandmother. The lack of communication and basic necessities of WATER and MEDICATION and CARE all became an issue. After two months in their care, which included the worst moments of her life ever, we decided to move her. This was also due to the fact that I spoke to a medical staff at one of her many ER visits during that time, that told me she was shutting down because of where she was at! My grandmother is not a complainer, she doesn’t want to upset anyone or get anyone in trouble. Once we moved her, we discovered she had Cdiff. Which I’m not surprised because of how neglectful this facility is. I had contacted a few elderly advocate places and found out how this place was NOT RECOMMENDED by anyone I talked to. Please PLEASE don’t send your loved ones here. I hope they realize their methods are not okay by any standards of humanity and can right their wrongs.

Indian Oaks Assisted Living is an absolutely, very good place. I'm glad that my mother is there. I would highly recommend them. They have bingo, therapy dogs, and a lot of activities on a daily basis. The facility is always clean. Everybody has been very welcoming and friendly. The food is pretty good, and the cafeteria is very nice. They take good care of them, and they make sure that their nutritional needs are met whatever their diet is. Her apartment is semi-private, and each person has their own side of the room. They have a bed, dresser, nightstand, and a lounge chair, which are all provided as part of the rental package. They also have free cable TV and WiFi. They share a bathroom and a closet. Everything is very orderly. They've been very understanding and they're helping my mom adapt. They take them on outings, schools come in to make things, and they celebrate birthdays. They wear a bracelet so that they don't leave the facility. They have a big area where they have music therapy, entertainment comes in, they have puzzles and books available, and they have aqua therapy. The business manager is hands on. Mom had to go to the emergency room, and they notified me right away. I feel confident she's getting 24-hour care from them.

I was not impressed with Indian Oaks at all. It was very dark in there, the hallways were very narrow and the rooms were very small. It's located in a nice area and had some grounds where they can go outside. The staff who helped me was very nice. It just seemed kind of cramped and very gloomy inside, and I didn't like that. The food wasn't anything to write home about but it was OK. Better lighting and a little updating to it would be an improvement. The outside looked very nice, but the inside looked like a maze.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I found Indian Oaks, it's small, and has 42 beds. They only have single and shared rooms. My room is a single, and it's very nice, it's got a huge picture window, huge shower with grab bars, and a not too bad closet. It was all furnished, and it was just what I was looking for. They keep evaluating you as they work with you. You pay just one price with nothing extra. The food is good old home cooking, and everybody is on a salt-free diet. They offer three meals a day, snacks anytime, special juice, and a coffee bar. They have a pretty good sized dining area, and they have two sittings every day, and that's nice. They do my laundry, including bed linens, they clean twice a week, and the place is spotless. They have their own hair place, and the girl comes once a week, and could come more if you make an appointment. The doctor also goes there. They have a man there, Jose, that's fabulous, and he will do everything you want him to do. He did my room before I moved in, and it was lovely. They have Bingo four days a week, always have puzzles going, arts and crafts, and they take people out every morning to stores, shopping centers, and once a month to dinner.

I would pick out Indian Oaks Assisted Living for my dad if it was totally my choice because it was small and more personal. The people that run it have all been there for a very long time, and it doesn’t seem like they have a lot of turnover. In general, I get a very favorable impression. The rooms were decent and seemed to be of a good size. The food and accommodations were really good. There were personalized menus for the resident, which I thought was awesome. The prices were middle of the range but definitely not as much as the high end places that I went to see. Out of all the ones I went to, they were the best.

The manager of Indian Oaks -- Christine -- was wonderful. The people were very friendly and helpful, and they took good care of my mom. The place was very clean, and the food was very good. She had a private room -- which was very nice -- and I can't say enough about how nice it was. It was a small place, and she got very nice, special care. They were right there until the very end.

Indian Oaks had good food and quite a bit of activities. I was impressed with the room because it was big and had a lot of storage space. The staff seemed very friendly. While I was there, somebody was playing the guitar and residents were singing. My concern was that they have very narrow hallways; two people could barely pass each other, so I don’t think a wheelchair could fit.

I was very happy with Indian Oaks. In the future if I need to move here, that would be the place I would go to. Much smaller but still they said they had activities like, outings. It’s a little more home-like, and there are only maybe 25 residents. The people were very nice. The staff was very helpful and friendly. If for some reason my mom does have to move, if this doesn’t work out, that’s where we are going to move her in the future. It’s a little farther from me, but their price range is good.

We recently moved our mother into Indian Oaks Manor and are very pleased with the facility. It is clean, the food is good and the safe is caring and accommodating. We would recommend Indian Oaks Manor.
