Assisted living in Utah County costs an average of $3,200 per month, according to Genworth’s 2020 Cost of Care Survey. This price is a little under the state average of $3,400 and significantly lower than the national average of $4,300 per month.

Utah County has very low assisted living prices compared to other cities in the region. At the bottom of the state, St. George is on par with the statewide average of $3,400. Northern city Ogden averages a more expensive $3,588. State capital Salt Lake City has the highest assisted living prices in the entire state. At $3,700, it is $500 per month more expensive than Utah County. Costs can be similar in neighboring Nevada, where Las Vegas averages $3,525. In Reno, assisted living has an average cost of $3,750 per month. On the opposite border, Colorado’s costs are a little more expensive, with Grand Junction averaging $3,995 and capital city Denver averaging $4,850.

Financial Assistance for Assisted Living in Utah County

Utah, in cooperation with the federal Medicaid program, offers two need-based waivers to low-income seniors. The Utah Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver and the New Choices Waiver were launched to help individuals, who would otherwise be relegated to nursing homes and other forms of institutionalized care, exercise their choice for alternative living arrangements, including assisted living and home-based services.

This vet center offers mental health services, including individual and group counseling, as well as referrals to medical care at VA hospitals and clinics. Traveling dentists can perform cleanings, fillings and denture fittings at a price discounted based on income. Mobile vision services include eye exams and low-cost glasses.
