Love The Willows. My father is there now but, unfortunately we are running out of funds to keep him on there, It is $3300.00 per month for rent, food and lowest level of medical help. This facility is the ONLY one in the Gundersen Lutheran system that will NOT take state aid so be prepared it is all self-funded and at that cost you must have a load of cash!

My mother currently lives in The Willows. The apartments are just fine. They have one and two bedrooms, and they keep them up real nice. They have recreation, they provide exercise classes, and musicians come in. The dining room is just beautiful. The food was going downhill, but now they got new cooks, and everybody is pleased again. If I'm that incapacitated and needed assisted living, I'd love to live there. She has been there for 13 years.

The staff at The Willows is very friendly, nice, and warm. It is neat and clean. It's connected to the rehab center and the nursing home, so if you want to go for a walk, you can take a long walk, visit with people, and go into the activity rooms in either section. My father started out in a two-bedroom because they didn't have a one-bedroom open, but now he is in a one-bedroom. It's very cozy, more homey, and he likes it better than the larger one. They have yoga, shopping trips, they go out to lunch or breakfast sometimes, games, bingo, and movie night, and they have musicians come in. When I went there, they had somebody right in the office when you walk in. They had the cleaning people, the maintenance guy, and residents walking around. The price was much more reasonable. You get a little more personal touch there in such a big place. My father just liked The Willow better. I left the decision up to him, and he picked them. He loved the food, and he said he felt nicer when he walked in the front door.
