I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I had to go check on my Father-in-law today after his home health nurse alerted me of the conditions she found him in yesterday. He was sitting in in wheelchair in a filthy shirt and only his underwear. Today I found feces in his wastebasket with exam gloves so had to be left there by a staff member (pictures taken). He was sound asleep sitting in his wheelchair in the BATHROOM. He had wounds on his legs (finally healed with home health) from allowing him to sit in his wheelchair ALL day and not insisting he laydown and elevate them as per his doctors orders. Legs were swollen today so it won't be long before he'll develop more sores. Laundry hadn't been done this week because he was in isolation from Covid. What? I'm a nurse and we don't not do laundry because someone has a virus! He didn't have any clean washcloths or towels. I've lost trust that they will care for my Father-in-law and maintain his dignity and keep him safe.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am staying at Arbor House Marble Falls, and it's very pleasant. The cottages are nicely sized. The staff is amazing, and when I moved in, they had freshly painted the apartment after the previous owner had left. It had a brand-new refrigerator. It is top of the line -- this is the Cadillac of refrigerators. It has all new appliances, a new microwave, a new stove, and a new dishwasher. The washing machine and dryer had been used, but they're in good shape. The residents are very friendly. I've only been here three days, and I've met seven of my neighbors. We are sitting on top of the hill here, so there's always a breeze. My back porch faces north, and it's covered, so I can sit out in the evening and enjoy it. We were sitting out here the other night, and it was ninety-five degrees, but I wasn't even sweating because we had this nice breeze that was coming through. The place has beautiful surroundings, it has a beautiful view, and it is quiet. They don't have a lot of organized activities, and you're pretty much left on your own. If you have things that you want to do, you can, and if you don't want to do anything, you don't have to. The place is very pleasant and moderately priced. If you want, you can eat over in the dining room. The dining room is over in the assisted living section. Since I have a full kitchen and I'm a gourmet cook, I don't want to go there. I don't want to eat their food anyway, but it is a very pleasant place to live. There is a fitness center within three blocks, and we have all kinds of walking areas. There's a courtyard for when it's cold or there’s inclement weather; you can go and walk in the courtyard. As far as setting up organized activities goes, it's not a part of their program.

I visited this facility

We were impressed with Arbor House of Marble Falls and my mother liked it. It's very nice and the apartments were very nice and well laid out. The amenities were very good. They seemed to have quite a few activities going on. The residents were very pleased with their care and facility. They were dining when we went there, and the menu looked good. It was a little bit larger facility but not very big.

I liked Arbor House of Marble Falls at first, but unfortunately it had 40 residents in the assisted living part and my mother needed a little bit more one-on-one care. They give them pendants to wear around their neck and if they need help they push the button. It could take up to 30 minutes to get to a person once they push the button. They have so many people, and they don't have enough help. They have two people at night for 40 people. They should have a balanced ratio of caregivers to residents. The staff member didn't seem as knowledgeable about the place as I would have liked. The menu was nice, but we didn't try the food. All their rooms have a door that goes out to the hallway and a door that goes to a courtyard in the middle, which was pretty nice. The residents can put their plants out. They have their own little space out in the courtyard, like a little patio. There's also community landscaping, which was very nice. The room was a square, which was more of a problem. It was all one room, but it's hard to get by the bed and the closet to get into the restroom.

I would not put my husband in memory care there because right now it's all women. There's not a man there, but he would still qualify for assisted living because he takes care of himself. He just needs some place where somebody can watch him so he doesn't leave, but he doesn't run off. My first impression was very good. It's nice and clean when you walk in, and you don't smell like Pine-Sol. Every time somebody moves out, they completely repaint the room and shampoo their carpet. In fact, we were in a room, and somebody just moved out; it's just been freshly painted and the carpet looked like it was new, but they just had it cleaned. Right now, if I had to make a decision, it probably would be Arbor House because it's smaller, and it would be a private room and assisted living for my husband. They have a courtyard restricted for the memory care, and then they had a really nice big courtyard for assisted living.
