I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I can't believe the county allows this place to continue to operate. The board of health should be doing careful, unannounced visits and walk straight to the cafeteria. Cold stale generic brand food you wouldn't give to your dog. Saving money, of course. Not surprised. The food is given out now in take out boxes. Gee, thanks. Makes the residents feel right at home. My Grandmother used to cook homemade delicious food for her family every day. Now she gets old, moldy food and a dixy cup with juice. It breaks my heart. These poor people have nothing to look forward to and decent food would give them some comfort. Have a little compassion--helping others to live their best lives towards the end is more rewarding then money. It's always about money with those people.

Please be cautious about taking your loved one here. We weren't able to choose a facility, because Buckingham was the only place that had rooms. We quickly learned why. Residents eat out of Styrofoam clamshells with plastic utensils and Styrofoam cups. The food was subpar and my mother's requests and dietary needs were ignored. The pillow she was given did not have a case. When we asked for washcloths, they were threadbare. Sadly, her closet had clothing that was dirty and not hers. She was not permitted to use the bathroom and made to use a diaper for the first time ever. This was humiliating for her. Most of the day she sat in a wheelchair in a large room. Her two choices were wheelchair or bed. She rarely received any kind of rehab. We did try to request changes, but they were not met with resolution. At $550 dollars a day, we expected much better. We could not get her out of Buckingham soon enough.

This place is just awful. Beware of the glowing reviews on other sites, folks. Do your research before putting a family member at this place. The food isn't fit for an animal and the way patients are treated is disgusting. My mom had scrambled eggs and when the person gave her the tray, she opened the lid, and the eggs were green with mold. None of the staff wants to do their jobs. There's so much turnover that meds come at all different times and sometimes not at all. Food trays are literally thrown on residents' tables. People are sitting in their own filth for hours. Do your research and visit the facility and don't just read "reviews" that you don't know who's actually writing them. Be smart and ask to see everything before paying him hard-earned money.

My dad was sick and was required stay at this facility. The staff made sure he had everything he need and his stay was stress free until the end. Thank for making his transition a comfortable and peaceful one.

TERRIBLE ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL. THE ADMINISTRATOR IS RUDE AND NON CARING. THE BUSINESS MANAGER EXTREMEMLY RUDE AND DOENS'T WANT TO HELP AT ALL. THE SOCIAL WORKERS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING. NO COMMUNICATIONS AT ALL, NON CARING INDIVIDUALS. THE NURSING STAFF AND PHYSICAL THERAPISTS ARE GOOD. JUSTINA A KINDA CARING NURSE. I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE DUE TO THE ADMINSTRATORS OR ADMINSTRATIVE PERSONNEL. AFTER TWO MONTHS OF MY HUSBAND BEING IN THIS FACILITY AND HE PASSED AWAY THERE, NOT ONE OF THE INDIVIDUALS MENTIONED ABOVE SAW FIT TO EVEN SEND THEIR CONDOLENCES. THEY NEEDED THEIR PAYMENT ONLY. SHAME SHAME ON ALL OF THEM, AND FOR THOSE PEOPLE THAT HIRED THEM. VERY SAD FOR THE FACILITY. WHO IS THE OWNER OF THIS FACILITY? WOULD LOVE TO SPEAK TO ONE OF THEM.... DON'T GO .....

Administration absolutely the worst. No communication, arrogant rude, and incompetent. Social workers couldn't answer a question. The administrator threatened me, didn't care my husband was dying and demanded payment. They got paid in full and didn't even know it. The business manager was so nasty rude and degrading. The Nursing staff good. Aides good. No caring wouldn't you think that one of the administration staff members would reach out after my husband passed with condolences? No because they are the worst ever. Never go there with a loved one

My dad lives here now and we have been happy overall. We looked at many other facilities in the area but chose Buckingham. Here's my impression...the activities people and the therapists are terrific and try to engage the residents. The janitorial staff is more than nice and have cleaned up my father's room after he makes a mess. The nurse assistants seem pleasant but there are different people every time I visit. The main nurses seem responsive whenever I've had a question. So, all in all Buckingham is fine for my dad's needs. The only negative for me is the smell. I honestly don't visit as much as I should because of this. I don't know how the employees can stand it. This past week it seemed like they put pumpkin spice air fresheners in the rooms because some of the odor was gone and it smelled like fall. I think if they can get that smell out of the building, they would have more visitors.

I visited this facility

I was so disappointed with this facility. I was hoping to put my Dad here but after touring the place, I plan to take him elsewhere. This nursing home is very depressing. It's dark, dirty and smells horrible. The woman showed us the main dining room and some of the therapy rooms. She let me look into some of the rooms and then we looked at the patio. In a word: horrendous. The residents all looked like they were spaced out and sedated. The floors were sticky and the "old person" smell was overwhelming. Facilities don't have to be like this. Why can't they treat senior citizens like people and with dignity. I feel terrible for those poor residents.

My brother actually took a turn for the worse and he was back in the hospital and now he's back in rehab at Buckingham Valley Rehab & Nursing Center. He arrived there a week ago. It's OK. On a scale of 1 to 10, it's probably a 6 in terms of their care. Their food is awful. It's clean. Their social services are really good, as far as I can tell. The interaction with the staff is OK. He is in a shared room. The only thing that we could get is a shared room. It's an institutional type. They had activities for them during the day, like playing board games things of that nature to get them mentally stimulated. They have an exercise room, which is where they do their PT. They have a central meeting area amongst all the rooms that the residents can come out, watch TV and congregate.

I waited a while to write a review and wanted to give this facility a chance. Some of the other reviews were spot on with their observations so I won't go into things that have already been mentioned. During this Covid crisis, I found that this facility did not do a good job. My loved one had other residents' clothes on and was left to fend for herself. I was not able to visit my mom during this time and I'm still not able to get in. They claim things are tough and they are understaffed and "doing their best," but that's my mom and she means the world to me. I don't know what's going on in there and the information I get is minimal. I worry about her and she's unable to communicate with me. She hasn't been cared for in many weeks and has bed sores. The only way I know anything is from a family member of another resident. They were able to find out more information about what's really going on in there. A large majority of residents in there have Covid as well as the staff so don't be fooled by the smiles. People are getting Covid on a daily basis! How is that possible if the place is on lockdown? We can't get a straight answer from them on how many actual cases to date they have had nor will they tell us how many patients have passed away due to Covid. I am so scared about my mom and caution others to watch them very carefully because they know how to pull the wool over your eyes.

I took the tour at 7 places in the Newtown-Langhorne area and chose Buckingham Valley. It was clean, orderly, pleasant and had a homey feel. Mom was 87 and her legs had completely given out,due to a stroke. I would visit her every day for 7 months, during a meal,to sample the food. Usually it was pretty good (mom liked it too).I reported a light bulb out and later the tv not working, both were repaired in 24 hours. One day,mom was telling me about discomforts. The nurse walked in with the daily medicine, overheard us,questioned mom about symptoms and put it in his report. The next day I received a call from the doctor. Mom had tested and had been prescibed for a urinary tract infection. I would never have figured that out right away like the nurse suspected. Mom enjoyed the religious services and friday sing-a-long entertainment in the cafeteria. The activities person and therapy people, all worked with compassion and understanding to help her improve. The family Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were delicious. Mom would have doctor appointments in newtown. They always had the van ordered and waiting for us (needed a van mom was wheelchair bound). The call button - 95% of the time, help would arrive in less than 5 minutes ( I would time it). There were periodic reviews (2-3 months) where I would meet with 3 representatives that would go over moms condition, progress, make recomendations, address any of my concerns or questions. Unfortunately, moms roommate was a miserable person and getting worse. I requested a room change and was told - yes - when a bed opened because they were full. A few days later I noticed an open bed ,called the head nurse and requested. Mom was moved to her new room after lunch. Both rooms had a view of a field and mom would enjoy watching the deer come out of the trees to walk in the field. If I had the choice again I would choose this place. I'm grateful to the people working at Buckingham Valley for the comprehensive and considerate care they gave my mother.

I visit my sister at Buckingham because she is unable to care for herself anymore. She's lived there now for about a year. When I initially went to see her, I thought things were going well and she was being well-cared for however, as I soon learned, there is very high turnaround with the staff and things aren't what they seem. The head nurse there left and there are so many new faces. My sister seems disoriented because she never knows who's going to come in the door. Now the hallways and rooms smell horrible. I had to insist that they help me open the window in her room because I could barely stand the smell. I stopped by the front desk when I was leaving to write a formal complaint and the person there just smirked and said that there's "nothing we can do about that. That's up to the residents." My sister is not aware of everything that goes on so it's my job to make sure she is in a healthy environment where she is cared for. I am in the process of finding a better place for her to live because Buckingham has proved to have gone from a decent nursing home to one that is not fit to take care of our seniors.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have been a resident at Buckingham Valley for 16 months. It's a terrible place to live. It had new owners June 2018. Things started to decline but in the last 5 months they have nose dived. The food is low quality and quantity due to budget slashing. The toilet paper, paper towels, styrofoam cups etc.low quality due to budget changes. The laundry and housekeeping depts. have problems and are short staffed due to money spending. The help(aides) and nurses are fantastic. They are not appreciated, but do their jobs very well. They are always short staffed in both fields. This is a profit taking facility not a non profit. It makes a big difference. Medical supplies for the residents run out due to ordering budgets. There are a lot of good facilities in the Newtown,Langhorne,Holland and Doylestown area. If your loved ones aren't in their right mind they might be ok here.If not it will be an awful strain. Do your homework.Pick a place that isn't all about profits to the owners. The elderly and ones needing help deserve a good facility to live in. I'll keep you updated. 8-20-19.

This is the 3rd facility my family member is in, and by far the best. Staff is responsive to his needs, especially the nurses. There has been a recent change in nurses and although I was apprehensive about his care, I think it is better than ever. CNA staff is sometimes short, but I ran into that in all the facilities . Basically, I am happy with his new situation. The new medical director is fantastic, caring and very reachable when needed. I would give the facility 41/2 stars because there is always room for improvement.

I was a resident at this facility after being transported there from a local hospital. Obviously the hospital did not care where their patient was going. I was only there for a few days when I asked my family to find another place for me to recover. There was loud talk and shouting by the CNA's through the night. I felt fearful. I was not given any water , and the call bell was not within reach. The bathroom was soiled. I did go to another faciltiy where I received very good care.

I visited my relative frequently at this facility. I visited various days and times. Whenever I visited there was shouting back and forth in the hallways. There was a man in a wheelchair at the desk begging for help. There was never a quiet peaceful time. When I visited I always brought food for my friend. The food at this facility made me feel sick. I am dismayed that inspectors have not interceded or fined this place.

My mom was here but we transferred her to another home in the area because of our concern for her safety and welfare. Mom needed a caring and understanding nurses but she got ones that looked angry every time they came into the room. Sometime my mom was scared to call for assistance because she was afraid Valerie would come. I witnessed on more than one occasion nurses telling residents to be quiet. The final straw was one night, we had an incident where another resident drifted into mom's room and when she woke up, the person was standing next to her bed. Mom's roommate luckily got an orderly to come in and take the person away but the whole episode had my mom very shaken and afraid to go to sleep. I wish I could be more positive but it's a facility more than a "home." Uncaring, unfeeling from the top down and the culture there needs to change.

I visited this facility

I have been looking for a nursing home for my Mom and decided to pay a unannounced visit. Well, I entered the facility to find a very angry woman behind the reception desk, who looked upset that I even talked to her. If this place wants to make money, you would think at least the receptionist would try to be nice. After some back and forth another woman came out to the lobby and took me on a tour of the facility. Upon entering the main hallway, all I saw were elderly people lined up against the wall in their wheelchairs. I thought there was some reason for this like a drill or something but my "guide" just laughed and said that it's easier to keep track of them like that. Uh..ok. We proceeded down the corridor and I saw a physical therapy room, which looked nice and then we looked in some of the rooms. The rooms were very stark. No decorations, two residents in a room and no privacy. the doors are all open and it felt like a hospital. I know some reviews commented on the odor but I felt like some areas have a better smell than others. The nurses seemed too busy to actually care about the residents and were bustling around doing things. There's a lot of noise. If your loved one wants peace and quiet in their final years, this is NOT the place. I could hear a woman screaming from one of the rooms as I passed by. I soon figured out that the "roamers" were the ones they lined up against the wall and the "screamers" are the ones they try to keep in the rooms. I just did not get a good feeling from this place but perhaps others have a different view. I think it all depends on your expectations and what your loved one can handle.

I usually never write reviews but felt compelled to in order to save others from the heartache I experienced. My Dad was in the hospital after a fall and we were not able to take care of him because of his other medical issues so he was transported to Buckingham Valley. It was nearby and thought that it would be a good place for him to get the care he needed. After six months, Dad was not doing well. When I would visit him, he seemed disoriented and angry. He was never like that. There was a rancid odor in the hallways even though there's always someone with a wagon and mops just standing there. I have never seen them actually mopping. One time, there seemed to be urine on the floor inside my dad's room but when I asked what it was, I got a snippy answer from the staff saying it wasn't a "big deal." I found out later that another patient had wandered into his room. I think the staff was the worst, though. The person at the front desk always seemed to be bothered if I asked her a question or even when I was signing in. Some of the nurses seem to think very highly of themselves and it's really frustrating because they won't take suggestions and act like they don't even know you when you've been coming 4 times a week for 6 months. My Dad was one of the "lucky ones" that got out.

I don't know where too begin. My mother was a resident here and we ultimately had to remove her because of the horrible environment. First off, don't expect a lot of attention--the staff chit chats in the corner most of the day and ignores the poor residents. My mom was subjected to angry staff members that acted like they had better places to be. I think the worse thing about this place is the horrible odor. The odor is so bad, I can see why they can't keep employees for too long. If residents are bathed and taken care of, you should not have that type of smell. It's just terrible. I don't understand how they can have a facility with that type of environment. Did I mention how dark and dingy it is? Don't expect your loved-one to have plabts in their rooms because they won't get light. Doesn't anyone care? Yes, you get a few "good ones" but mostly the "caregivers" are angry and dismissive. I saw a man lying in his bed that looked like he had not been attended to in a long time. His bed was filthy with waste and he was moaning for help. Run from this place. If you love your family member do not send them here. I pray for the poor souls that have to live there.

There is never enough dietary staff to serve meals on time. CNA'S are poorly trained. Nurses are agency and do not know the residents. Intestinal illness is prevalent. It pains me to give even one star, but giving zero stars is not an option. My family member had personal property stolen while at this facility. Call bells ring for hours at a time until the patient has no choice but to wheel themselves to the nurse station to ask for necessary medication. This place is filthy everywhere, absolutely bottom of the barrel. We looked at the same disgusting food stains on the floor for days. I feel terrible for the patients who are not cognizant enough to advocate for themselves. We had my family member moved to a different (much better) facility. Please do not send your loved ones to this sad excuse for a nursing home/rehab. There are many other options which are a thousand times better than Buckingham valley.

My grandmother has been a resident at Buckingham for several years now. From my perspective it is an excellent facility. Whenever we visit I can tell that she is being taken care of very well - she is always clean, dressed and in good spirits. I don't recall it ever being dark - occasionally there is an odor in the air but I am not sure how something like that could be completely avoided. The facility seems to be in a constant state of upgrade - every time that I go there is something new and/or improved. The staff is also friendly and attentive. One of my grandmother's aides has even taken her home for the weekend to give her a change of scenery - I have not been to many of these facilities but I have to assume something like that is very rare. I would not hesitate to recommend Buckingham..

My dad had alzheimers. He was a resident here for a fractured leg and due to the anesthesia, remained a resident until he passed away. If my mom had known the poor condition of the facility, lack of communication, and lack of attention to the residents sooner, she would have moved him to a better place. The short time he was there, they had 2 different directors. Neither one seemed to care about the residents. When making a decision make sure you visit more than once, talk to the residents and the people that come to visit them. Also find out who the covering doctor is and talk to them directly. Look for facilities that specialize in Alzheimer patients. There is usually a waiting list. Note: There were a few nurses that were caring.
