I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I wouldn't recommend anyone to go to Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. I paid over $3,000 for my mother to stay there when I went on vacation, and it was horrible. The place was dirty, the walls were dirty, they had blood on them, and the rug you're stuck to it, it wasn't a nice place. But yet across the way, they have a senior living where you pay cash and it's beautiful. They have a beautiful garden and everything there was nice, but the nursing home part is not nice at all. There were bugs in the place, and when you're paying that money, you don't want to see gouges in the walls, you don't want to see paint splattered on the walls, and there were flies in the rooms, and on the trash can there was a roach. My mother's meals were brought to her room. They had a big TV room, and there were a couple of people in wheelchairs at the time I was there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I like Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. The thing I like the best is they really take care of you. If you want something done in your apartment or you want your refrigerator fixed, they're right there, Johnny-on-the-spot, in no time at all. It's very clean, and the food is very good. The are all very nice. It's almost like you're part of the family. It's a very, very good place. I think it's one of the best kept secrets in Philadelphia because it has the lowest entrance fee that I have ever heard of and the lowest rent. It's a great one. I'm surrounded by older people, and it's very, very safe. I really like that. Nobody will bother you. They are very nice to you. You wouldn't believe how safe it is. It's unbelievable. I think I made the best decision in my life.

Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park had a very nice room layout. They were roomy and we kind of liked where the kitchen was in relation to the rest of it. It seemed to be very good. The two people that showed us around gave us a very nice tour. They spent a lot of time with us. It was very clean and nicely decorated.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

My sister likes Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park very much. There are several things that we liked about it. The people that were there, Claire as well as Martha, were professional. They took their time and explained the process and what they had at the facility and what the options might very well be. After understanding what we needed and wanted, they took us on a tour of the property. As they took us through, Martha showed us exactly what was available and it was exactly as they had described it in the discussion before taking us on the tour. We were very pleased with the apartment and the amenities. We had an opportunity to take a look at the gardens. We're very familiar with Philadelphia and The Wesley Enhanced Living facility takes you away from the typical understanding of what an urban environment is. It's a respite, quiet place, suitable for senior citizens and safe in a very urban area. They had the shopping and the ability to go to two different supermarkets and come back home with transportation provided. We had an opportunity to take a look at the menu and it was more than ample and sufficient. The garden was absolutely beautiful. My sister, who is not comfortable in an urban setting liked it very much, felt very comfortable, and hoped that we could work out the finances that she could be there. Her husband is currently in a nursing home and there are provisions that once we get her in, there is the possibility that he could come over there also and they take Medicaid. That's another thing that was very interesting and acceptable. She would be independent and should she need assistance or personal care, those facilities are there also. They explained how the rates would change as one would go from one to the other. We were not able to taste a meal while we were there. However, we did have an opportunity to see all of the available amenities and some of the people were participating as the gym was being opened up. We saw the area for religious services, the grill, the dining room, and the gardens, pretty much everything that they had there. The bedrooms were more than ample, spacious, and well lit, with more than enough room, and the bathrooms seemed to be secure with bars, etc. I thought the living quarters were fine and very comfortable.

My mother-in-law is in Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. Once I spoke to the people in charge there, I had a really good feeling. They took me on a tour and we knew immediately that this would be a good place and a positive place for my mother-in-law. And we have not been disappointed. Every person that we have come in contact with during the rehab part, everything has been positive. And other members of my family that have gone to visit my mother-in-law have had nothing but positive things to say about every person that they've come in contact with. Whether it's a nurse, an aide, someone in the office receptionist, or anybody that we've come in contact with, it's been a positive experience. I would highly recommend the place. We haven't tried the food but all of the food looks outstanding. The facility is very well maintained both outside and inside. The grounds outside are beautiful, and the rooms and the hallways inside are wonderful. There are activities every single day that we've been there. There's either someone there singing, there's entertainment, or a bingo game. There are always people involved like staff members or outsiders that they brought in for activities. We trust the place and we feel very positive about everything, we're just so happy.

Provider Response

Hello and thank you for sharing your mother-in-law’s five-star experience at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. Through our employees, our accommodations, and our activities, we strive to provide a caring, family environment for our residents.

The nursing care that my friend got at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park was very poor. I like the way the rooms were set up because the twin rooms have a wall that partitions the two beds. So it almost felt like you had your own room. They need to improve their nursing care and they need more staff. The staff didn't identify that she was ill until she was in shock and got sent to the hospital. They had good food choices. They didn't have activities during the week that we were there. They had a beautiful courtyard. They had COVID patients at the time so you couldn't go to the dining area. The place itself is very clean. It was paid for by Medicare.

I went to Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. I thought it was a nice property. I was impressed with it. The staff was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. They were able to answer all my questions. I don't remember being extremely impressed, but I didn't leave with a negative attitude toward them. When we looked in the rooms. I have an allergy to Oxi detergent, and so one of the things that's important to me is to have my own washer and dryer in my living unit, and they did not have that. We were there shortly after lunch, and people were coming back from lunch, going back to their rooms from lunch. And they seemed to be very congenial, with a good atmosphere, and a good mixture of people that were comfortable with each other. That to me was a good sign. Everything seemed very clean and nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have a friend in Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. She's been there for three and a half years. She's had some hemorrhoids, like for the past year and they've been hurting and killing her. It doesn't seem like they're doing anything for it and they're not getting any better. The staff tends to have an attitude that it's too much trouble to do this or to do that. The whole personality there is way different from the other place. They're not as clean, and they just don't seem to have enough people to care for the residents that they need. I know everybody's going through that right now, everybody. So I guess you really can't say too much about that. Everything's gone downhill since she's there. They have a nice yard where the people can sit and chat, they have little tables if you want to have lunch. They have to listen to their patients more.

Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park's facilities seem very nice. I looked at a one-bedroom apartment, and I also saw a two-bedroom apartment. They seemed very nice. The landscaping outside was beautiful. I can't say anything bad about it except that it may not be available. I was taken around by the sales manager. I saw a resident in a hallway, but I didn't have any long interactions. The staff who gave me the tour was very helpful.

My dad moved into Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack. It was recommended by a friend through my daughter. He's actually in rehab right now, and he'll be going to long-term care. The staff is very informative and helpful. I would recommend it for the staff, the area, and the cleanliness of the place. They have a courtyard, and a dining room.

Provider Response

Thank you for your recommendation, we're looking forward to having your dad with us for a long time to come!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We just wanted to take the time to define our experience with Wesley Pennypack Park. Our Mom is 96 and we finally, after 5 years from the passing of Dad, talked her into moving from her Philadelphia home of 73 Years. We took her to two tours of Wesley and she liked both visits. Mom is extremely independent and loved the apartment with the washer/dryer on the same floor in the kitchen !!. She decided to make this change February, 2020. The family was delighted as she would have a safe environment with lots of new friends to share stories and meals with. She was so excited and was ready to move. Mom moved into her independent apartment March 4th, 2020. We got Mom partially settled in when the COVID 19 came to the USA. Shortly after, quarantines were put in place and Mom was on her own, or so we thought. Wesley's staff and personel have gone above and beyond to keep all residents safe and happy and that no one gets forgotten and most of all keeping healthy. Supplied with games and books to color, added additions to the menus, they have kept her spiritually in touch. Wesley Management has also been keeping the family updated constantly with what is happening. We can put our head on the pillow at night knowing Mom is safe. We talk with Mom daily. She lets us know that she gets a note with each meal updating what's happening in the community and how to follow the protocol to stay safe. Mom is really teachng us a lesson or two how we can make it through this unsettling time. She reminds us of the World Wars and the Depression. We are hoping that Mom will be able to really enjoy the pleasures that Wesley has to offer outside her apartment walls. Wesley is truly, in our opinion, a wonderful and compassionate facility as this pandemic is new to them as well. They have touched our lives and our Mom's. We look forward to seeing her and personally thank each and every one at Wesley.

Provider Response

Thank you, Lorenzo and Gloria, for your kind words. We appreciate your recognition of the struggles and unique situations and challenges that we've faced though the COVID-19 pandemic. We're committed to providing programs and services at the same high quality and standards that our residents and their family members deserve and have come to expect. We will make any and all adjustments necessary until we are able to return to some sort of new normal. We look forward to seeing you and your family visiting our community when this is all over! In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact us directly at the community if there's anything we can do to make your mother more comfortable in her new surroundings.

I visited this facility

Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park was nice. I liked it a lot. It had a homey atmosphere. It wasn't real big, so it didn't have as many activities going on. Everybody seemed to know each other. I also saw people in assisted living and everybody was on a first name basis. If you needed someone to look after you, you would get attention there. I was impressed with the staff and the facilities; it was a little less expensive than others. The food menu looked decent. They had a cafe where you could eat meals, but you can also cook your own. They had a nice dining room. If you're going to a very high level of care and you exhaust your resources, but you've been there for five years, they have fundraising and they will keep you forever. The woman who took me around was really good, seemed to know everybody that we ran into, and was able to answer all our questions. I was happy and content with the facility.

Provider Response

Hi Stephen, We appreciate your feedback and are glad your tour of Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park went well. We'd like to take this opportunity to invite you back for a second tour and to join us for lunch or dinner at your convenience. We'd be happy to talk with you more and answer any additional questions you might have. Please contact Jennifer to make arrangements. We hope to hear from you soon, and we hope you choose Wesley Enhanced Living for your future needs.

I wasn't impressed with Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. The rooms were smaller and they were semi-private. They were separated by a curtain and a wall, and they were adequate.

Provider Response

Thank you for your feedback about Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. Our Pennypack Park location offers independent living, personal care and rehabilitation and skilled nursing services. While some skilled nursing rooms are semi-private, private rooms are also available. All independent living and personal care apartments are private.

We really liked Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. The rooms were so nice and modern. The people, including residents, who we got to talk to were so friendly. The dining facilities were great. I thought the menu options and the restaurant schedule were good. They had two options for dining: a bistro and a dining hall. We met some residents who were playing games in a game room. They showed us the room where they had live entertainment and church services. They also showed us a room where they had movies once a week.

I thought Wesley was very nice. They remodeled the whole place since I had visited it years ago when the facility and orientation were much different. There were a couple of things that were very nice, like dining room and menu. One meal a day was included, but they also had a nice snack bar that you could use 24 hours a day, I think. The rooms were nice and quite adequate.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

This facility has undergone major renovations over the last few years. The new apartments are beautiful and spacious. My grandparents have a 2 bedroom apartment, so that is what I am reviewing. The bathrooms are updated and the standard tub has been replaced by a spacious walk in shower with no ledge. Someone on a walker can just walk right in and have plenty of room to shower with the walker in with them for support if needed. The kitchen is large and has all the modern amenities including a dishwasher. Residents who enjoy cooking should have no problems. I have personally cooked many Thanksgiving dinners in my grandparents kitchen and have had no issues with the counter space, oven or anything else. The new dining room is beautiful. There is now a nice lobby area with comfortable seating for residents waiting for a table. The staff is kind, patient and know their residents well. My only complaint in this area is the food. It is institutional food which reminds me of high school lunches. The salad bar desperately needs to be expanded to include more options. The activities at "The Manor" are varied. There are small concerts, movies and creative options for the residents to move around, socialize and use their imaginations. As an example, this Halloween, my grandparents and I made scarecrows, which were then used to decorate the beautiful courtyard for the season. The hallways are wide and have handrails on both sides, allowing easy travel for residents of all abilities. My only issue here is that the hallways are very long and the elevator is in the middle. Residents living at the far ends have a long walk if they are using walkers or canes. Residents who need assistance need only call the appropriate department. Someone will come and put boxes in storage, move heavy objects or anything else the resident needs and cannot do themselves. There is a van which takes residents to the grocery store twice a week, the mall and other shopping outlets. Residents can also use this van to go to doctor appointments for a nominal fee. There is a SEPTA bus stop right out front of the facility for those wishing to use the free public transportation. The facility is located directly in front of Nazareth Hospital, so in an emergency, the hospital is right there. The care in the medical center of the manor is very good and helps the resident transition from the hospital back to their own apartments very well. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this facility. My grandparents have the perfect balance between independent living and the help they need.

It's a beautiful place and they have all levels of care there. I really like it and I got the studio apartment. It looked beautiful and nice. It has just about everything that you could want in there! We went there on a Sunday, so I only met one person, but she was so accommodating and we were treated very nice. It's a very clean place. I'm very pleased with it. What I really like about this facility is that there is this one button that the residents just push if they needed help. The button tells the staff where and who you are (who pushed the button). For example, if you fell or you need help, they will automatically know where to send help. I have not tasted their food, but just looking at the place you know the food's going to be good; you can tell. They also have 4 little dining rooms on different floors and the dining rooms are very cozy.

The apartments are nice sized, the building is kept clean. The residents seem to be happy and enjoy the building and the activies. They also have common areas that allow the residents to spend time outside their apartments together.
