My mother's experience at Heritage Springs included both rehabilitation and hospice care, where she received attentive and respectful support from the staff. During her rehabilitation, the nurses and aides were compassionate and responsive to her needs, ensuring she felt comfortable throughout her stay. As her condition progressed to hospice care, the dedication of the nursing staff remained unwavering. On the day she passed away, two nurses aides demonstrated exceptional sensitivity, empathy, and grace, providing comfort not only to my mother but also to our family during a difficult time. Overall, Heritage Springs delivered quality and compassionate care during both the rehabilitation and hospice phases of my mother's journey. Our family is deeply grateful for the professionalism and kindness shown by the staff, which made a significant difference in our experience during such a challenging period.

The rooms were ok. The food was served cold. The care was awful My father was a resident for a couple of months at this location. He was moved several times, due to the facility needing to be painted, loud co tenants, etc.. Unfortunately, he was here during the holidays and was served cold food due to the location of his room. When we told them that was the case, they responded they knew that was happening but couldn't do anything about it. I remember him handing my husband a ball of mashed potatoes and asking him if he would eat that. My husband thought he was handing him a baseball, not potatoes. Neglect was definitely an issue here. He would wait 2-3 hours for a nurse or aid, because they were shorthanded. He was totally paralyzed on his left side. No one was bathing him or changing his shirt, (my family would take turns making sure he was clean, shaved and had a clean shirt on. ) He would wear a diaper for several hours before someone would come and change him. Food trays would be brought in and left on a cart out of his reach. On occasion when they did feed him, they were shoveling it down his throat, only to find it stored in his jaws. His glasses were also lost. My family tried to be present as much as we could. Even the day before he passed away, he was given an unnecessary test. We put all of our trust in this place to take care of our father/grandfather/friend. This location was definitely more concerned about their appearance than the care of their patients.

My mother was at Heritagespring Healthcare Center of West Chester. They made her leave because, apparently, it was a non-smoking facility, and they wouldn't let her smoke, like she wasn't even allowed to go outside to smoke and she kept going outside. I'm very dissatisfied. Not just because that happened, but my mother fell twice while she was there. The first time she fell, she fell so hard she broke the toilet, and they left all her clothes in the toilet water for almost a week. She was at the rehabilitation side, and then they put her on the nursing home side, and I didn't even know that they had moved her. The parking was minimal, but the facility was beautiful and very well taken care of. They had nice flowers. They have a gazebo, but really there's no place for families to sit outside other than that small gazebo. When you pull in and you look at it, it looks like a nice place. You walk in and you're met immediately with the receptionist. They're cordial. I didn't have any issues with that. I knew how to get there only because I was there all the time, but as far as getting to where you needed to go, you have to take the elevator to another one, and you have to go through a set of locked doors, which is good, but it's also confusing. I could do the doors because I was able to maneuver it, but for other people, you'd have to wait for somebody to even open the door, because it's really hard to open the doors. I was not notified the first time that she fell, and she had a bad cut on her head. My mother had COVID when they made her leave, and didn't tell me that she was positive for COVID. We did not know it was a non-smoking facility when she went there. One time my mother was outside. She was not smoking because we were on video chat and one of the nurses or the staff came out. I heard them because I'm on the phone with my mother. I could hear the staff say, "What are you doing outside? You're not allowed out here." The woman wasn't aware that we were on video. My mom said, "Well, I'm not smoking." The lady said, "It doesn't matter. You're not allowed outside." My mom goes, "I'm talking to my daughter." The staff says, "If you want to talk to your daughter, you can go to my office and you can talk to her there over the phone." I said, "Excuse me, ma'am. We're in the middle of a conversation. May I see your face?" The staff said, "Well, you don't need to." I said, "I'm asking you, please, my mother and I are having a private conversation, and she's not smoking. I'm on video. May I see your face?" She said, "No, that's not necessary." She made my mother go back inside and told her she's not allowed outside. I was furious. First of all, the woman told her she's not allowed to talk to her daughter and then told her she's not allowed outside. I was like, she's not a prisoner. They had a calendar, but she really didn't do any activities. They had this huge, beautiful piano. Usually the staff, like the nurses or the CNAs, were usually just sitting at the table talking to each other, or at the piano. They're usually just sitting there conversing between themselves. They had a nice dining area, but she didn't get a lot of meat. She would say, "I had some beans and mashed potatoes." I said, "What about the meat?" She goes, "They didn't get us any meat." They seemed like they were fully staffed, but she was supposed to have a bath three days a week, but it had been a week and a half. She wouldn't get cleaned up and she would just lay there in her own urine. She had her phone and her purse. She was in her own private room, and after them trying to take her purse from her so many times, all of a sudden it ended up missing, and it had pictures of my father in there. They never notified me. They said, "We're investigating internally." They never did find it. They all need to be on the same page. Her roommate had stomach issues, so she was always in the bathroom. My mother is in a wheelchair and she had no other place to use the restroom, and she went downstairs to try to use the restroom, and they told her that she's not allowed there, that that's just for staff and that she can't go to the bathroom, and she has to wait. I'm like, how do you tell somebody you have to wait, especially when she's 70 years old? She's had packages delivered there and they said they never got it.

I have to say, during my Grama’s stay at Heritagespring, she had a great experience. The rooms were clean and there was a nice window view for her, which she loves to have a view to look outside. Staff was so caring and tended to her needs. I am so thankful my grama was treated so good as it has always been her fear coming into a nursing facility. So this made her feel better about coming again in the future if needed.

My sister was at Heritagespring Healthcare Center of West Chester. They got a partition off a room to make two rooms out of it. They had to share the bath with another person. They've got plenty of places like that, but they didn't have enough room where you could have a room for you and your husband or something like that. The upkeep of the place was nice. However, they didn't have very many staff members because my sister would ring her bell or put her light on, and they would hardly get over there to see her. And then when they did, they would say, 'Well, we'll be right back,' and they never came back. When we visited our sister, women and men sitting in their wheelchairs all over the place. They had an arts and craft room, and that's all I know about them. My sister always ate in her room. They had one pretty good meal, and that was called honey mustard chicken. She ate every bite of that, and she loved it. But then after that, she had to go on this crappy stuff that they would put in their food to make it thick so that she wouldn't choke on it, and it wasn't good anymore. They can improve by hiring more staff and by taking care of the people a little bit better.

I wouldn’t recomend any elderly family member or friend going here !!! My father was there in Jan 2022 for rehab after back surgery . He received very little rehab and was left in his bed with a diaper . He was capable of going to the bathroom with assistance . Most of the staff seemed put out every time we called for assistance . The nurses were great but the aids were horribly and treated my dad like garbage . The place was dirty and every time the food was brought out it had Nats flying around . It would be at least a half an hour or more to get someone when we rang the buzzer for help . The lock on the front door was broken so the safety concerned me As well . Anyone could have walked in off the street!! Thank the Lord I was there constantly to observe the lack of care and pulled him out after a few days . Otherwise he would have never left in any shape to go home .

My 77 year old dad needed rehab after being in the hospital for 2 weeks, We chose Heritage springs because we were told that it was a 4 star facility and offered transportation to a nearby dialysis unit. The disappointment of care dad received here was beyond frustrating. The facility is understaffed. There was a lack of urgency when we pushed the call button. Most times it took 30 minutes to an hour before our call would be answered. My dad was supposed to be changed (diaper) every 2 hours but was not. A lot of the times we had to insist that he be changed. My mom would even do it herself because she didn’t want him laying in a dirty diaper. My dad was in the facility for just shy of two weeks and had not received a bath. When we asked about it, we were told that there was documentation that he had refused the bath? My dad was in tremendous pain and there was a lack of sensitivity from most of the staff. There were just a few aides and nurses that seemed compassionate. I recall one aide telling us that even though my dad was crying out in pain that he was still required to do his therapy or the insurance would drop him! It was beyond insensitive and just plain ridiculous. We made the decision to stay with my dad around the clock because we were worried that during the night he would be left alone and not checked on by the staff. The care didnt improve until it was clear that dad was not going to leave the facility alive, we had made the decision to call Palliative Care/ hospice and had several members of our family there with him all the time. Dad died a little after midnight on September 24 2021. The funeral home had a hard time getting Heritage Springs to answer their call and when they did reach them, the person at Heritage Springs was rude and told the funeral home that they shouldn’t be calling them at that time of night. I very seldom ever leave a bad review of a business but I had to write this with a hope to help someone else facing the same decision that our family had to make with putting someone they dearly love into Heritage Spring. Don’t choose this place.

They never have my father ready for scheduled appointments even though they are at the same times and days every week. The are constantly losing personal items, and have lost about 15 full sets of clothes. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

My 95 year old mom was sent for rehab here and the level of care is horrible! She broke her hip and arm and we hired round the clock sitters to help her because no one comes. I spent 3 hours yesterday trying to get someone to help her get into bed and the people in the nurse's station were rude, gave me dirty looks and no one came. Average time to change depends is 5 hours. I'd say average response to call light can vary from 1 to 3 hours if yesterday was any indication. A woman told me her mother in the room next door had a colostomy and when she came to visit, her mother was sitting in feces as no one came to check it or clean it. We are working feverishly to get her transferred elsewhere.

In my estimation, everyone in the facility bends over backwards to satisfy you to the best of their ability. The attitude is very high.

The only good thing for this facility is the Therapist are very attentive and know their job! I never receive the meals/drinks I order nor does my roommate. When I receive my tray and ask for what I ordered the staff either doesn't return or comes back after a minimum of an 30 minutes to an hour. Call light response is typically 15-45 minute wait time to use the restroom or get any assistance. Very disorganized and understaffed.

My mom is currently in long term care following a stroke of spinal cord. This is a very difficult situation to adjust to so her care matters a great deal. She has received excellent physical and occupational therapy, which could mean the difference between her walking again or not. We have tried other facilities in the area and Heritagespring by far has the best therapy/rehab. The staff overall are very good. It is a lovely facility. Their "shared" rooms are nicer than many private rooms in other facilities. However, we do wish the rooms were larger, particularly when you have a wheelchair.

I appreciate the WONDERFUL job Angie does caring for my Aunt. I try not to bother her with concerns or questions when I am there , but when I do , she always listens and helps me with the situation and ALWAYS with a SMILE and a GREAT ATTITUDE .. Heritagespring should be very pleased to have Angie on their team and I feel very fortunate having her caring for my Aunt. Marlene aka Ethel

This place is so unprofessional. They are a joke. They disrespected my mother in law in the most ignorant way. My mother in law was in an accident and chose them for rehab. When we first got there, there was no one at the front desk and spent an hour calling people before someone even came to help her so we asked the nurses there and they were so rude and disrespectful saying they weren’t expecting her and told us she wouldn’t have a private room after we were promised one and the one nurse laughed in our face when we explained the issue. The administration lady had no care for her at all. She first lifted her by her shirt to move her instead of her arm, she kept trying to force her to walk to the bathroom when she has a no weight bearing fractured knee and didn’t want her to use a bed pan, she kept hitting her knee to see if it was moving, kept giving this smartalic attitude towards us the whole time and didn’t even help her in bed to where my husband and his sister’s boyfriend ended up lifting her up to use her brace because they wouldn’t put it on her. No one introduced themselves to her or explained anything to her. They left her side door unlocked. The nurse would come in the middle of the night and NOT wake her up to introduce himself and literally stuck a needle in her arm without explaining what it was and then left her. They didn’t give her the clothes she came in. Overall THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! I wouldn’t recommend this place to Satan himself. Do NOT send your loved one here at all.

I would recommend this facility because the therapy was excellent and all of the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was good but I would had liked fresh water more frequently. Overall, I was very satisfied and couldn't have asked for more.

My love one has been at this facility for 4 months. The facility is very nice however, the carpet in some of the areas needs to be cleaned more regularly. Also, it would be nice if deodorizers could be installed throughout the hallways. However, given the nature of the business, I do realize that slight odor issues may be unpreventable. My relative is well cared for by the personal care professionals and nursing staff. Additionally, any questions or concerns that we have are answered and dealt with immediately. The social services team is outstanding. They have helped us facilitate care needs within the facility, as well as complete the necessary documents for extended care. They have been very professional, pleasant, and committed to helping us through the process of obtaining long-term care. Overall, we are pleased with this facility and will definitely recommend it to others.

I wasn't pleased with the facility when I first arrived because no one informed me of the rules and policies. However, I am leaving with a smile on my face. I had a good time here and I am an improved man.

Heritage, such a fantastic facility! Rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. Staff was friendly and always smiling. The Therapy Department deserves 5 stars for their efforts in working with the residents. Great team! The facility has a marketplace where residents, family, and staff can go to purchase snacks, open 24-7 which was great. I would recommended to anyone who is looking for great care for their loved one

Heritagespring!! What a strong team. I had a great stay in West Chester 6 miles from my home. My Husband was able to drive by each day to attend to my laundry and check in. This is also a pet friendly atmosphere where My dog was able to visit anytime. I was very emotional during the initial check in about the thought of not seeing my fur baby and was ecstatic when I found out she was welcome. Although It was a short stay for me I was so pleased with all of the staff. The meal service was very inviting and I made a couple friends during the meals and activities that we attended together. The therapy team is so wonderful and fun. Thank you Heritagespring for a great stay! I'll see you next fall after my second joint replacement.

My father spent over 3 months at this facility and I was very impressed! From the beginning of his stay, we were welcomed and greeted with open arms. Everyone was always willing to answer any questions and help us in anyway. The facility is very clean! I highly recommend the nursing and therapy staff. My father was excited to go home but he misses the staff at Heritagespring! Thanks for taking such wonderful care of my father!

My mom was admitted to long term care in February. We left another facility because we were unsatisfied with the care we received. Since arriving here we have been very happy with the care we have received and all the staff we have been in contact with. The facility is kept very clean and the activities provided for the residents are great. We really love the care my mom receives and would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place for their loved one.

Honestly I couldn't have asked for a better place to have my grandmother after a total hip replacement. The nurses And nurse aides were very accommodating and the administration as well as admissions coordinators were very inviting. I was able to rest easy at night knowing my loved one was in good hands. The therapy team was amazing and had my grandma walking in 2 weeks and that's saying a lot after the long road she had been down! By far the most beautiful atmosphere I've seen in long term care and I've toured many buildings! Thank you Heritagespring for a great stay!

I would not recommend this place to anyone that actually cares about their family. My relative was on rehab and she was not satisfied with one of the aide. Left my relative crying because she was so mean. I believe her name was Kayla. We spoke to the Rachel's and was told that the situation was taken care of but she continued to come back into her room. Made her stay there horrible. She took no pride in patient care nor did the nurse. The aides work short and like slaves all the time and the nurses never pitch in to help. They walk pass lights and I'm very familiar with the health care field to that fact that there is a no pass zone.. My relative loved Clarissa, that really tall girl. She wishes she could have taken her home. Sweetest thing. She was ready to leave given that they are always short staffed which I saw for my own eyes and the fact that I came in and there wasn't a aide in sight for a whole hour and half. There was another one that my relative loved I just can't think of her name. It might have been Misty! I believe if people would work together in that place it would be a great facility. There is no team work, unorganized, and to many people with titles and not doing any work. It's really sad they don't value great patient care!

I would not recommend this facility. My mother-in-law was in for rehab. for knee removal. She would buzz the nurses for assistance to go pee. She would have to wait up the 20-30 minutes for help. Nurses would be in Nursing station shooting the breeze every time I was there (Daily). On Tues I set it up to take her out on Sat. Reminded them Thurs & Fri. They told me when they would be done with IV antibiotic. IV was started 45 min later then I was told. The Buzzer buzzed for 30 min Telling us IV was done. I told them 4 times before they came to turn it off and finish up. I would not have been upset but there were 7-9 Aides/nurses sitting in/around nurses station each time I said something. I was not a happy camper. Also Food trays would sit in her room for hours.

Although Heritage springs has a clean and inviting atmosphere, the care by aids and nurses is lacking. At one point I asked a nurse to help me get my mom on the toilet...her response...I'm going on break so you will need to find someone else. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I did not report the incident as I didn't want her to take it out on my mom. When my mom passed away, only one nurse said how sorry she was for my loss. While removing my mom's items...no one else said a word about her passing. To me this showed a lack of caring. This is an expensive facility and not worth the money we paid.

Don't place anyone here! It is terrible. We took my Dad out as soon as we found another place open. When he was admitted, no one even welcomed us or told us what procedures they had in place. I got locked in a hallway because no one told me there was a code. We pressed the call button and no one came. The man next door had his TV blaring. We switched rooms 3 times that night (the same day my Dad had been in the hospital and he was exhausted). All the TVs were so loud. The doctor that came in didn't even read his chart and thought he was taking Xanax and diuretics (only listed on his chart for emergencies). I couldn't wait to get him out of there. I didn't leave his side and was promised a recliner but slept on the floor on a pile of Depends! This place has serious issues!

They have more to offer at Heritagespring. It's a cleaner, nicer nursing home. They have their accidents out in the hallway, but they seem to get everything cleaned up. The food is better there. There might be times there might be food trays laying around in the dining rooms, but they seem to get things cleaned up as quickly as possible. The dining rooms and the hallways are nicer. It's a much newer-looking building. That area is very nice. There's a big pond across the street. They put tablecloths on their dining tables, and everything just looked better there. There were times that my wife was complaining about the staff not getting to her fast enough there. Sometimes it was good. The last time before she left there, she was screaming, yelling, had a lot of complaints about what should have been done or followed upon. On both floors, they have a game room. They can go in and they can get on the internet in there. They have games they can pull out. They have slot machines that they use their coins in, and if they need coins, the machine will spit them out, or they can go ask for more coins and they just pull the handle on these different slot machines. It has a nice big piano in the middle of it on one floor, and it has a beauty shop.

I agree that Heritagespring is all about the money. My mother's bill was incorrect every month...always in Heritagespring's favor. I am not talking a few dollars...hundreds of dollars. The administration avoids families...I tried for over 4 months to speak with the admisnitraion and was never able to talk to anyone nor did anyone return my calls. I was at the facility visiting my mother daily and seldom say a RN. A chari/bed alarm would ring for a long time before anyone checked on the resident. I know on at least 2 occasions my mother fell and it was a visitor who finally investigated why the alarm was going off...thus the visitor was the one who got the staff who ignored the alarm. Although my mother seemed content at Heritagespring, she often complained that the aids were rough with her. Heritagespring is a beautiful facility that is clean but is lacking in most other ways.
