Accepted Answer

We have a quiet little Gathering Room at the very heart of Avia. Here you will find books to read, a television to watch, doors that will take you out to the garden, and a couch that sits right in front of an electric fire place where you can curl up with your cup of coffee from the coffee station.

What transportation services does AVIA Senior Living offer to independent living residents?

Accepted Answer

We have free transportation Tuesdays! We have a van that is owned by Avia and we are extremely easy to work with. If you have somewhere you need to be on any day of the week, so long as our employee's are available, we can take you!

Question 3

Does AVIA Senior Living work with an agency or registry to provide nursing and medical assistance as needed?

Accepted Answer

No. We are strictly Independent. We offer nothing medical, but have companies that we can refer you to. We have a lot of different home health and private duty companies that come and hold events here at Avia and with our sister facility, Arlington Court, being across the street, we have plenty of resources we can provide you.

What places are nearby for independent living residents to enjoy?

Accepted Answer

We have a couple of parks anywhere from one mile to three miles away. The Upper Arlington public pool is one mile away. The Senior Center is less than three miles away. Starbucks, Kroger, Tim Hortons, are within a mile as well as the Japan Marketplace!

What are some recent off-site events that the community activity director at AVIA Senior Living has organized?

Accepted Answer

We LOVE to do ice cream by the river or picnics. The Scioto River is right around the corner, less than ten minutes away. 
We also have sister facilities that often times come together to do outings like going to the zoo or cook outs!

If AVIA Senior Living accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?

Accepted Answer

We are VERY pet friendly. We request no more than two pets but are understanding that your pet is a part of your family. Please call if you have any questions or concerns - we may want to meet them if you plan to do a tour!

Describe the overall population of independent living residents at AVIA Senior Living. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?

Accepted Answer

55+ community where we have residents in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and even 90s! We are like family, keeping to ourselves, but getting to know everyone. We watch out for one another without prying into everyone's business. There is something for everyone to enjoy attending whether it is a bingo group, intellectual presentations, or even just to sit outside and enjoy the weather. We have people that like attending events, and people that do not.

What makes the chef or dining program at AVIA Senior Living exceptional? What kind of menu can independent living residents expect?

Accepted Answer

Chef Tim went to college to do what he loves. He just hit his 20 year Anniversary here at Avia! He knows his way around the kitchen, is extremely open to requests. Plus, the fact that we are so small and personal, if there are allergies, or there is a particular kind of food you do not like, he will make something special for you.

What safety features or security measures does AVIA Senior Living offer to independent living residents?

Accepted Answer

Our apartments are spacious with high ceilings. We have hardwood floors, and low carpets making it easy for those with walkers and wheelchairs to get around. The bathrooms are equipped with grab bars around the toilet, sink, and in the showers. The showers also have shower seats as well as detachable shower heads. The hallways are also equipped with wooden rails for everyone to hang onto as they walk down to the dining room, gathering room, or exit. This ensures they maintain their balance as they go about their day!
