I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was a Danbury resident for a year until she passed. My family is confident that we made the best choice with Danbury as the entire staff there is top notch. My mom had wonderful care there. I interacted with the staff on a daily basis and always felt their care was genuine. Everyone went above and beyond in looking after my mother. The food was always outstanding and the entire facility well-maintained. I told their loving and compassionate Exec. Director, Cara, that when my time comes, the Danbury is where I want to be. Thank you so much.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has been at Danbury Columbus for 3 1/2 years. In that time she has moved from the regular assisted living to the memory care due to her need for an increased level of care. It is evident from just being at Danbury that Everyone genuinely cares for all the residents. The staff from the Executive Director to housekeeping knows each resident by name. Each resident no matter their level of care or cognition is treated with dignity and respect. In the time she has been there they have always had excellent staffing. The staff are very approachable and willing to assist to ensure that all needs are met. The staff also get to know the famiIy members. I work in healthcare and I am familiar with different care facilities throughout Columbus. Danbury provides Exceptional care. I would and have already recommended Danbury to friend and family.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

After 55 years in her Upper Arlington home, several falls, and broken bones, at age 93, my mom acknowledged that it was time to look for an assisted living community. Franklin County has dozens of facilities, and we spent three months visiting every suitable place in the northwest quadrant — nine places with multiple visits to several. Mom chose Danbury because she said it felt the homiest. Nearly all of her furniture fit in her 2-bedroom apartment and it does feel like her home. The staff all know her and she enjoys them. There are more activities than she would ever do at her house, or on her own. But the staff makes sure she gets to ones they think she’ll enjoy. A wide variety of food is served in the dining room and a resident committee weighs in on menus. Our family has eaten there a number of times and been pleasantly surprised. Danbury’s been a good choice for my mom and she was wise to choose it.

Provider Response

Hello, Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear that your mom feels at home in her new apartment and that our staff has made such a positive impression on her. We’re grateful for your trust in us and are so happy that our community has been a good choice for your family. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

My mom has been a Resident at Danbury for five years. I have seen her go from assisted-living to memory care now. Through this journey I feel the entire staff has been very supportive, caring and so friendly. Any concerns of mine were easily communicated and a plan was made and resolved. Her apartments have been perfect size for her. Having a Doctor on staff there has been so helpful. Cara and the ENTIRE TEAM have gone above and beyond for my mom. It gives me great peace that she is being cared for by such a great team.

Danbury Columbus is an exceptional facility with an even more exceptional staff! Each and every member of the staff is kind, personable, and patient. The level of care and consistency provided by the Danbury team has been monumental in the health of our father throughout his dementia journey. The qualitative care, healthy meals, and routine socialization found at Danbury has made all the difference for our father’s mental and physical health. As caretakers, Danbury has given us immense peace of mind - we are blessed with the knowledge that our loved one is cared for by the tremendous nursing and administrative team at Danbury. Thank you, Danbury Columbus!

Cara and her team have been exceptionally attentive and caring. My mom is healthy and happy. My family is treated, like family. Both Mom and the rest of us that come to visit. The front desk staff is always willing to take calls and answer question. The nursing staff is top shelf. And last, the food is well thought out and yummy. Further mom’s room is comfy, kept clean and everything works - all the time. Thank you all!

Apartments are a great size and the layout works well. Staff is wonderful, very helpful and caring Limited activities because of individual health issues, wish there were more to participate in but understand the limitations. Nursing care is good but availability of a physician is poor. If I could recommend one thing it would be the ability to communicate through resident’s call button. These were used at the last place of residence. The staff had no idea when the button is pressed if it’s a medical emergency or something as simple as a problem with their TV. All in all happy to have parent here.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My family member has been a resident for several years, and is currently in Assisted Living. Most important, is that my mom is safe and happy here, and I know the staff values her as a member of the community. Administration has always been open to communication and resolves questions quickly. Food is good, and surroundings are pleasant and in good repair. Various apartment layouts are available. Both indoor and outdoor lounge areas are used for recreation therapy and special events. Transportation is offered for outside appointments, lunches, and shopping.

The staff at Danbury of Columbus is absolutely wonderful--all of them from the exec director to the people at the front desk, the chefs, the nurses , the activity people, the maintenance man, the PTs, and the people who take care of the residents. We are so happy that we found this place for our Mom to live. She enjoys the outings, bingo, the crafts, chair volleyball, movies and the special events like BBQs. She has met a number of residents that she enjoys spending time with. I can't emphasize enough how kind the people who work there are to the residents. The food is great too!

I visited this facility

I would have chosen Danbury Columbus for my friend because of the reception that we got when we went there. The staff that took us through that place was very knowledgeable. She spent a lot of time with us and she explained all the services that we really didn't know about that were available. She was just very detailed about answering all the questions that we had. They had occupational therapists on site. It was an older facility, so it's got some wear and tear but the people are the most important thing for us. There were several floors, so the elevators were large. The place was easy to navigate, and they had nice wide halls. The layout was very friendly and very open. I liked the fact that the dining rooms were right there in front, as soon as you walked in. So, you got a sense of community right away because there were people there. And another thing that I liked was that they don't have assigned seating in the dining room.

I visited this facility

I visited the Danbury Columbus. When I got out of the car and was walking up to it, it was a few days before Saint Patrick's Day, but they still have all their Christmas decorations out there. For me, if they don't care enough about first impressions, in my mind, I'm not sure if they would care that much about me. When I walked inside, they had Saint Patrick's Day decorations. I saw four workers standing around the front desk, talking. They called the person who will give us the tour, and she wasn't as professional as the person in the other place I toured. She never once talked to the people that were in the hallways, they just kept their heads down. They had two different layouts for a 1-bedroom. She said we'll have to excuse them because it hadn't been cleaned yet, and there was food all over the stovetop. Inside people's open doors, there were bags, I don't know if it was trash or laundry, but there wasn't one thing inviting about the place. The staff that I talked to really didn't share enough information, while the other place gave us a sample of what the food would be and what our options were. But here, it was just about "What are you looking for? What type, I can show you." and gave us a handout. So I was disappointed with everything. The dining area was just a big room with tables and chairs. I would suggest that they improve their appearance, that should be pretty important.

Provider Response

Hello Roberta, We are disappointed that you didn't have a good experience on your visit to our community. We understand that you didn't appreciate our decorations, but we specifically decorate each winter season with real, fresh evergreens with sparkling orbs at our front entrance and custom-planted pots. As for your tour experience, we want to learn more about the cleanliness of the apartments you were shown, as it is not practice for us to tour a room that isn't pristine. We care deeply about opportunities to improve our overall tour experience and can only do so with feedback like yours. To provide further insight, please email us with more details. Thank you!

I visited this facility

Our visit at Danbury at Columbus was very nice and we were impressed. The apartments were very nice, and the 2-bedroom unit was just what we need. They have an exercise room, outings to restaurants, and different activities around town. They have a doctor on staff as well as nurses, and they also help with dialysis.

I visited this facility

I have been to several Assisted Living communities over the last month or so, looking for placement for my Mother. I visited Danbury last week and I have to say, I was very impressed. First off, I love how they decorated the entrance with the fall decor. The staff there were very genuine and helpful. My tour went very well and I felt very informed about the services offered. The head chef even introduced herself and invited me to stay for lunch. I chose not to but the food looked amazing and very appetizing. The residents in the dining room seemed to really enjoy it! The atmosphere throughout the community was very warm and caring. After visiting other communities, we have decided to make Danbury our Moms new home. Thank you Danbury for making this an easy decision for me.

I visited this facility

I was impressed with Danbury in Columbus. It was a very neat facility. They seemed to have activities. I talked to a couple of different residents there and they seemed very happy. They had an exercise room. They showed me two or three different kinds of rooms. I also saw the restrooms. One had a separate bedroom, and there was one that was part of a general living area.

Thankful One

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My grandmother was a resident at Danbury Senior Living for over a year before she passed away. During her stay, I have to say the staff were wonderful. From upper management to the line staff, you could tell they really wanted what's best for their residents. I have to also say the food was spectacular! I know they talk about a "fine dining experience" but I wasn't expecting it to truly be such. The food is definitely high quality and I would say better than most restaurants I've been to. The chef personally would come out to check to see how the meals were. She is definitely a rockstar and a great asset! The servers are also very tentative to the needs of the residents. Moving your loved ones into a facility is often a hard decision but I knew my grandmother was receiving great care and great food. I would highly recommend Danbury Senior Living to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones. Thank you for everything!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has been a resident of Danbury for almost a year. The facilities are excellent, the food is very good and the care she has received has been a fabulous. Her apartment is a very good size and is cleaned weekly. The staff takes care of my mother with respect, dignity and love. There are many types of dementia and the staff knows the tips and tricks on how to redirect their patients behavior and provide appropriate activities. Music therapy is provided several days a week and the patients dance, sing and play tambourines. My mother was in our home for several years and although difficult to place her in a facility, this is the best there is. We are so pleased and happy with the care, attention and love that she receives from the aides up to management. She is happy and cared for. Many thanks to those at Danbury for helping us to enjoy the years left.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother-in-law is doing very well in Danbury. She likes it. It is just two minutes from our house and brand new, so everything is new. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are a nice size, and the atmosphere is very homey. The food is very good. They have a little bit of anything for activities, including bingo, a movie theatre, games, and visiting musical talents.
