I have been very impressed with the attentiveness and kindness of the staff in the memory unit at Chapel Hill, and the staff are skillful and knowledgeable as well. Furthermore, they respond to phone messages in a timely way. I would recommend Chapel Hill to other families seeking memory care for their relatives.

We went and toured Chapel Hill Community. The staff members were very informative and very helpful, and they seemed very kind. We toured one of the condos that they have on campus. They are all one level handicapped accessible units. There are two-bedroom-two bathrooms. They're over 1300 square feet, and they're beautiful. They have cathedral ceilings, and it's all updated. The kitchens are nice and roomy. They have an attached one-and-a-half car garage. They provide two hours of housekeeping a week. It includes landscaping and snow removal. It includes one lunch a day, too. They were very reasonably priced for what amenities you receive. There's a nice clubhouse that you go to for lunches and activities. You could also reserve a room there for parties if you wanted to have friends or family over for a holiday, so that was very nice. They allow residents to have golf carts, so if they want to zip over to the clubhouse and not walk that day, that would be very convenient. The property that the facility is on is beautiful. There's a huge lake and residents can fish if they want. There are walking trails throughout the property. It's very pretty. The common dining area was in the clubhouse. It looked like a lodge, so it was very homey. It felt like you were on vacation when you went in there. They have a soup and salad bar, and you could get a hamburger and French fries there, too. The staff said that a lot of people just eat the soup and salad and box up the hot meal to take home and eat for dinner. For activities, they had a prayer group going on when we walked in there. They have game night and arts and crafts day. They said that people can do board games, card games, or anything they choose. A Girl Scout group will come and entertain them, too. They get involved with the community. They have outings. They could go to a restaurant or into town. They also have a yoga hour. So there are a lot of activities there.

My mother was there temporarily to spend time with her church widow friend until my sister purchased her home so she could move in. She went in healthy and strong. She was only there a total of 6 weeks. Around week four she began getting coughing fits and had chills and aches and pains. She was breathing more rapidly I expressed my concerns over a two week period. The nurse assured me she was ok. They did the over the counter covid tests and said she was fine. I called again and my mother could not put two words together because she was breathless and tested positive for Covid. I demanded the nurse see my mother and her oxygen level was in the 70%s and she was rushed to the hospital and passed within hours of being admitted. I lost my mom when she came there strong and healthy for only a short visit stay. So tragic. Please bring your loved ones elsewhere.

I placed my mom here in January, and am not pleased. They are terribly understaffed. The staff they do have is under-educated. They only have one nurse for 32 residents in assisted living. In the few months I've been visiting there, I have met two staff members on their second day of employment, and one nurse on her first day. None said they were given any training by local staff. Even the doctor I spoke with was unwilling to admit any staffing shortages or inadequacies. The food is sub-par and I have found the daily refrigerated health shake (mini Ensure) dropped into mom's mailbox instead of delivered to her personally. I asked the receptionist how to open the outside door near mom's apartment, and was told to find a nurse (not easy to do). One of the nurses called me to see if mom had received a meds shipment because they couldn't find them. FRIGHTENING! I do not recommend this facility for assisted living.

My brother will be moving into Chapel Hill Community. Everything there is very nice. The guy I spoke to was very helpful and nice to me. I was looking at a studio for my brother, and it was big enough. It wasn't fancy, but it's good for my brother's needs. It's plain, simple, and looks like easy access for the shower. The nicest part was the community rooms. They have a therapy, salon, TV room, and library. I did not try their food, but I've heard good things about it. It's a beautiful country setting and seems to be very nicely kept. They were redoing some of the rooms when I was there.

Chapel Hill Community is a big community. They have a lot of different levels. The building itself was nice except for the one room that we saw, which they said they were in the process of replacing. The one-room that we saw did not have a door in the bathroom; it had a curtain. We talked with the gentleman that was helping us, and he was very informative about how to get the things that we needed to do to get Harold up here. They have some things so far as activities and that. They had a coffee station, but they said they haven't been able to use it for a couple of years because of COVID. They said they're hoping to put that back up and I thought that would be a nice thing. Even if they had an aide run it for a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the afternoon for the residents to go and get coffee and between meals, but that wasn't up and functioning. The staff who took us through was nice. He was very good.

We loved Chapel Hill Community, but they had no opening. They said you can be put on a waiting list, but there are quite a few ahead of you. The independent living is wonderful, they've got an apartment that's just like home. You've got your own garage, and it's just very, very nice. My friend was very impressed with it and would have taken it in a heartbeat but there was no vacancy. The place was very nice and the independent living houses are beautiful. The staff that we met was very nice. The gentleman that we worked with was very talkative, very upfront, very polite, very cordial, and very helpful. Only one meal a day is included, so lunch is provided. The place is clean and nice, a little dated but I'm sure it would meet the needs of the people that are there.

I went to Chapel Hill Community yesterday. It was impressive. I liked the freshness. The accommodations are extremely nice. It seems like they've covered a lot of the considerations as far as maintenance and available resources. The staff was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions I had. They do have a bus. They have a dining room and food available, that's an option. I understand that they have a movie night and have some kind of food accompanying that. They do allow pets, dogs. I have an acquaintance who's living there, and she happened to be in the dining room and I asked her about food, and let's just say it was OK. My only reservation is the cost. I'm not sure if it's the best deal for me.

My mother-in-law is comfortable at Chapel Hill Community. She knew a couple people from her building that moved there a few months before her. We chose it because it was close to home. They have a time when you can visit. We didn't know that when we put her in there. It's 9:30 to 6:30 visitation any day. It's clean and they have a nice chapel inside, a nice dining room, their own hair salon, and she seems to enjoy it. We've had no trouble with any of them but one (the night nurse). She enjoys the food. The dining room is spacious and it has a very big picture window across the whole side. She's only done the bingo, but they have a whole wall full of events for the week, so she seems to enjoy it. She has her own furniture. The furniture they have is dated. We had problems with phone service. You're only allowed AT&T in there, and we weren't told that until after she moved in. They do the laundry and they have cleaning. Nobody has to worry about that. That's done for them.

Chapel Hill Community was beautiful; they're very nice. But in my opinion, I think they're just way too expensive. There is no way my brother-in-law can afford $9,000 a month. That's a lot of money. The staff was wonderful. I think they had a room ready for him. They had physical therapy for the patients, they did daily activities, and they had the outside where they could go and sit when it's nice.

My father is in Chapel Hill Community. I don't have anything good to say about it. They're very understaffed. The rooms are dirty. My dad does not get quick enough attention if he needs to use the restroom. It takes forever for them to get to him and he tries to go himself and not having the strength to get out of bed, he has already fallen once. The only thing that's clean looking in that building is the lobby when you first walk in the door. He was there for rehab, and he's still in the same room. He's waiting to get a better place somewhere else hopefully. I go four days a week. I rate them a 2 only because it has a roof over their heads and they feed them. They are understaffed, but there are a few good ones. The problem is you hardly ever see the same face twice. There's a lot of them, but not enough of them at once. His rehabilitation has been over for a couple of weeks now, and he's no longer even getting physical therapy. He's just kind of in waiting. Another family member is handling the bills. All I know is it's $300 a day to stay there in a private room and right now, my father cannot afford that. He either has to be moved to a semi-private room which he's not going to like or he has to be transferred out of there somewhere else, and he's not going to like that either. They should have a new administration.

The rooms are ok, but the level of care is subpar at best. The nurses have way too many patients and it takes up to 45 minutes to respond to a call. Thank goodness we haven’t had a true emergency. One evening my father resorted to yelling for help because no one was responding to the call button. Even after yelling for help twice, no one came to the room. Just disgraceful. They have limited activities. We have an iPad in the room set up to auto-answer. The staff routinely unplugs the iPad forcing us to try and contact the nurses station to plug it back in. There aren’t any phones in the room, so you can’t call our father. We were told get him a cell phone. Unreal. When you do call and try to speak to a nurse the phone just rings and rings. No one answers. In one case my father asked for his pain meds. and waited 2 hours for someone to come back into the room. The nurses work hard and try their best, but they are simply under staffed.

A handful of employees seem competent. The food is ALWAYS cold. Cannot get anyone to help with bathroom when needed. When you ask for something the response most of the time is sure and they leave the room and never return. They seem to be VERY short staffed. My mother was there for over a week and a half before she got a shower. Therapist spends a lot of therapy time not working with client but entering information in computer. The doctor that comes in is very rude. The list could go on, and on. Bottom line....this is an awful nursing home. NOT RECOMMENDED

My mother was a resident who suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and the Lewey Body Dementia that is sometimes associated with it. She was in the Memory Support Unit, and I can’t say enough about the kindness of the care she received. Each resident had a private room with its own bathroom with a tub that was easy to step into, for those who like baths, as my mother did. Each room had a lovely view of the pond, or of a treed lawn, very restful to look at. There is a dining room where the residents eat together; socializing does help with mental support. My mom enjoyed root beer floats, so the nurses made sure there was always root beer and ice cream on hand so she could enjoy one. There were activities offered the residents could enjoy together, like board games, or cards, or puzzles. My mother used to be a registered nurse, so while she was still able, she was allowed to take blood pressures, which made her feel she was helping, so important to those who feel they have lost so much. My father was still alive, so he was the main liaison between Chapel Hill and my family, but my sisters and I always felt included in her plans for care. Jerry always made sure to keep families apprised of what was going on. My parents were always dedicated church goers, so Chapel Hill’s chapel with a full time pastor meant so much to them. My sisters and I were so happy with the care my mother received, we trusted Chapel Hill to care for both my father (after living with my husband and me for a few years after my mom passed) and my husband’s mother; they were even across the hall from each other! If anyone wants to know about he care our parents our parents received, just ask me, Jill Spriggs. Jerry has my number.

My mother went from living at home to Chapel Hill for rehab after falling. She has dramatically deteriorated there and lost 20 pounds. The care is terrible and the place is filthily. She fell in the bathroom there, hit her head and lay in her urine while screaming for help for 20 some minutes. They never informed us until we called and only then did they send her out for a cat scan, which she is now in the hospital for. The Director Nursing is rude and does show and care or empathy. Good luck trying to reach anyone by phone. They are understaffed and the food is cold and indistinguishable. The Administrator does not seem to care how terrible the place is run either. We would not dare send my mom back there as it would mean certain inhumane death to her. I cannot describe enough how horrible the 2 weeks were that she has been in that terrible place. Do not go there if you care about your life and dignity!

I was treated very well. The meals were very good. The nurses, aides, and everyone treated me with respect. I recommend Chapel Hill to everyone because of their great care.

Therapy staff was exceptional for Mom even when she didn't want to participate. But some of the nursing staff and nursing aid's left you wondering why they work there.my Mom was total care due to stroke.and she would hit the call light and it would take 20-30 minutes sometimes for someone to help her. And when they did get a bedpan for her it was dirty .the place is filthy for a health care provider.there are some major issues with the staffing ratios per resident that really need to be addressed for safety .I was very disappointed with the place and first opportunity I moved Mom somewhere else.

My mom has been in Chapel Hill for four years now. It is my mom's friend who knows about it and chose it. We are happy about it. It think it has pleasant surroundings. I actually feel the people are caring and take a genuine interest in my mom and the family. She is in a shared room because she is on Medicaid. The room is fine and adequate. The food is kind of bland, but it think it is sufficient as far as the meal plan and everything goes. They have bingo. They have outside people come in and entertain. They have special activities throughout the year. The way they treat the people stands out to me.

My friend Barb was very pleased with everything at Chapel Hill. The food, the nurses, and the friends she made. She seemed to really improve with the therapy she received. She is doing much better and was able to go home because of the great care at Chapel Hill.

We found the charger for my husband's vac pump in the stuff that I picked up from the nursing home. He was sent, via ambulance, back to he hospital because the nursing home claimed that the pump wasn't working. In other words, they never had that pump connected while he was there! My husband messed his pants on the first day at the nursing home. Two nurse aides clean him up but never put on clean underwear and he was still without underwear when he returned to the hospital 48 hours later, even though two complete sets of clothes were delivered to the nursing home. The nursing home was late with every medication, at least by one hour. Several times, they indicated that they hadn’t received his pain medication from the pharmacy, so he once went 12 hours without receiving anything. My husband asked for a walker, but the nursing home said that they don’t have any walkers, just wheelchairs, so he was out of luck unless I delivered one myself. There was no physical therapy for the 48 hours he was at the nursing home, although the reason that he was sent to the nursing home rehab was for physical therapy. Antibiotics were to be administered via a port in his arm, with saline on a pole, but that never transpired. During the 48 hours that he was at the nursing home, all that he had to eat was a banana and a glass of orange juice, with no encouragement to eat more in the dining room or even in his room.

Chapel Hill is a really nice place, and everybody seemed happy there, but it's an older facility. The staff were fine. My friend's room is nice, and she has a roommate. She seems very happy there. I am not really familiar with their activities, but I know they have sing-alongs.

My mom and dad are in Chapel Hill, and it seemed like a big family there. It seemed very friendly, and it has everything they need for the rest of their lives because it has different levels of care. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For meals, they have a la carte, other things they can order, and they can order food at other times of the day other than in the dining room. They have music, crafts, bingo, trivia, and they have a card and puzzle club.

My Mom was there for 10 days rehab and they only gave her a shower one time. When we asked them to give her one they told us they did not have time. When we told them we were moving her to another facility, they told the other facility that it would take them 5 days to get the paperwork ready. It only takes one day. This is not a good place for long term placement

THe facility was understafffed, unclean and very unorgainized. There was 1 nurse for 15 patients on the floor that my grandmother was on. All the employees looked very stressed out. Patients seemed not to be taken well care of. However, the nursing staff was very friendly and did answer any questions that were asked.
