Nursing Home Communities in Washington, MO

"We got a tour of New Haven Care Center and we are on their waiting list. We were looking for nursing home care. My mother-in-law needs showers, getting to bed, and she's pretty well wheelchair-bound. When we walked in, I just felt like it was very welcoming and warm. We met with a woman named Teresa, she gave us a thorough walk-through with lots of explanations, and she answered all of the questions that we had for her. She let us know that 94% is the capacity but it was much, much smaller than that due to lack of being able to find employees. Everything just seemed clean, everyone was friendly, and I just had a very good feeling there. I was just very disappointed knowing that there were 28 people in front of my mother-in-law on the waiting list but Teresa said it may not be that many because some people are signed up strictly for rehabilitation and they've probably chosen someplace else at this point. I thought I would give her a call back in a couple of weeks. She said that if it did come to the point where it looked like there would be a spot for my mother-in-law, then she would have to do the paperwork for her. I would just call the rooms a typical nursing-home room where all the beds were hospital beds. That was nice because they had the lifting and lowering accessibility instead of the beds where she is now, where they're only regular twin beds. It looked like everything was well taken care of there and I know they got some choices on their food, which sounded nice. She also showed us the dining area. When it gets to the point where it's a possibility for us then we will spend more time out there. I think that is still the place where we would like for my mother-in-law to go. I was very impressed with Teresa. She didn't act like we were bothering her, and she took special time to show us the entire facility. I felt like she was a very caring person and was in the right job."

"My husband is in the Pacific Care Center nursing home. It seems very clean and it's very seldom for it to have a bad odor. They took a lot better care of my husband than the other place he was in. They also have more activities and communicate better. They always answer when I call. He's only been there for a month but it seems like they have just been a lot different than the other facility he was out of. Overall, I'm just really pleased with them. They had a Christmas party for the residents, bingo, and people coming in to sing, so they just had more activities. They involve all the residents, and even the office people and the administrator. Everyone seems like they get involved with all of that. They help feed my husband when he can't do it himself. It appears to me like they all help with everything and it's not just one person's job. The office people and the aides all seem like they work together a lot better. They're more reasonably priced than a lot of other places, too."

"Need more staff, but overall the food is good and the place is clean. There are a lot of nice people that work there. My Aunt seems to be happy there, her only complaint is she wishes she could have visitors. But, she understands do to the virus."

"My mother is in St. Andrew's at Francis Place now. It's very good. We're happy with it. The staff has all been very helpful. We haven't had any issues at all. Everything appears fine. She moved in there when the virus was already here, so they're on lockdown, and they're not letting anybody in. She's happy with everything."

"My mother is in Warrenton Manor for rehab. I don't like the food they serve the residents, but other than that, they take pretty good care of her. She seems pretty happy there, and she hasn't complained. Of course they don't give them any salt and seasoning on the food. We brought her home for Christmas dinner and brought her back. They’re wonderful, attentive people. My mother is cared for and has a wonderful therapist that comes in several times a day. Her biggest complaint is that, "My eggs are cold, and the food is either cold or tepid." She can't remember anything but she remembers that. I understand the food has to be bland because of all the dietary restrictions, but at least they could get it out hot. That's the only problem I had with them. The amenities seem fine for what's going on there and the state of these people. The things I was concerned with in the beginning I understand now why they do it. They bring out some people and have them lay on these wonderful beds. They're stroke victims or high-risk so they can keep an eye on them closer. If they can't answer your question, they go run for help and find somebody to answer everything, or they give you a phone number to contact. The level or the quality of care is there, I have no problem with that. My mother had a roommate before, and they couldn't have picked a better roommate for her. I thought, "Wow, they even think of that." That was really sweet for them to pick someone and be a companion and talk to my mother so she is not just sitting there and being sullen. I really appreciate that. They have a calendar that they put out. They have manicures and hair cuts at the beauty parlor every week, which my mother enjoyed because the girls cut her hair really well. They have activities every day, like church service, carolers coming in, visiting little kids, and all different things. They have little shops, play bingo and games, and get fake dollars that they can use at their store. They also have a beautiful front lounge with a big TV and beautiful lounge chairs. They have a big beautiful piano and bring people in to play. When I was there I saw a resident who just finished playing, even though she may not remember that she used to play, she seemed real happy about it. You can come through the front door, or through a side door depending on the time of the day. They are very nice people who are very kind to their residents and try very hard. They do everything they can."

"My mom now resides at Marymount Manor as of 09/01/2017 after numerous falls at home. She needed a place to have assistance when needed. It was a bit hard at first. Today is 09/19/2017 and I can say she seems to be very happy and content. I am an only child so everything was left up to me to take over. She raves about the food and can't wait until the next meal. LOL She tells me about what she had to eat almost daily. Since being at Marymount she has already made many friends. From the lady in her room who she has a lot in common with to the nursing and aide staff. Everyone has treated her very kindly. They have a little coffee/snack shop there where she can get a smoothie or fancy coffee. Her room is very clean and the admission staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful to make your loved ones transition an easy one. Of course putting your mom is a nursing facility is something no one wants to do but I feel she is safe from constant falling, and well taken care of. She is now getting and taking her medications as directed. I don't have to worry that she didn't take her medications. As far as I'm concerned I'm happy to have chosen Marymount Manor. Plus side...the deer on the property is a beautiful site to see. "

"I had to put my mom in skilled nursing at Bethesda Meadow. They seem very caring, and the place is clean. They seem to have quite a bit of activities -- they play Bingo, and they have a music therapist, crafts, and two different types of church services, so I think that they are doing a lot of things to motivate the residents. They seem to listen to any kind of concern you have, they seem to care, and they seem to be taking care of my mom. "

"The staff at Breeze Park was wonderful. It's older and small and had a long wait list, but if you've got a several year long wait list, you obviously are doing something right. They had everything from senior apartments, independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing, and even short-term rehabilitation. It's a large campus that had multiple buildings. The outlying perimeter of the campus had independent town homes. They had a golf course and different amenities. They're allowed to use the facilities within, but they're basically living on their own. There was an apartment building for independent living where you get a little bit more skilled care and cleaning staff. They had another building made for assisted living and attached to it was the nursing facility. The rehabilitation building was also attached to the nursing facility. They were separate buildings, but all in the same complex. They had swimming pools and all kinds of amenities."

"The staff is very personable, they did the best they could with what they have, and they did everything for my friend with her needs. They have physical therapy, television, and bingo, but they should have an area where the patients could go outside, like the tables and umbrellas and that kind of thing to sit up and enjoy. "

"My husband has been there only one week so very little experience to call on. But the employees seem to be caring and attentive. Small, quiet facility. My husband likes the meals so far and over-eating is not urged on him. "

"I'm happy with the services that Delmar Gardens on the Green provides. The staff seems professional, friendly, and caring. My mom is also happy when she interacts with them. They treat her with respect, which is important to me, and they listen to her. For what she needs, it's a convenient location to where I live. The food is excellent. It looks very appetizing. She said that they're always bringing food to her. My mom is in a shared room with one other person. It's not huge but she has a view of the outside. She can sit up on the bed/wheelchair and watch TV or look out the window. It's just adequate for a nursing care facility and they seem to be keeping it up very well. They have a daily list of activities that are provided to the residents. They have plenty of things to do."

"I was very pleased with this facility. Very clean and well kept. The staff was very kind and friendly. Staff made us feel extremely welcome. My Aunt will be moving from her condo to this facility due to her being unable to care for herself anymore, it is very scary to send a loved family member off into the care of other, but I was very impressed! We toured the dining area, it was very well kept and the food looked like it was excellent. Food staff seemed very king and willing to help. The elderly people in the home were very nice and everyone I talked to seemed to enjoy their living experience here. I think sending my Aunt here will be a wise decision. I give Garden View Five stars, no doubt! "

"Meramec Bluffs was very well-maintained. They had friendly people. There were large open areas and lots of services available just inside the building. Transportation sounded good. The green space looked good as well. The staff was very attentive and seemed like they were happy to be there. They've got a full time personal trainer to help with any needs you might have, whether it's just exercise classes or other stuff. They also had a gym, different apartments, a swimming pool, a hair salon, a bank, and a doctor's office. I saw everything that was there. The tour was really, really good."

"I have a friend who lives at Delmar Gardens of Chesterfield, so I'm pretty familiar with the place. It's a place I could easily live in. We go to her apartment, and we have a book club there. We all bring our own food for the book club, so we do not eat with her in the cafeteria. But I walk by it all the time, and it's gorgeous, it's brightly lit, and the residents say the food is wonderful. My friend gets assisted living because they check on her an awful lot. Like sometimes when she forgets to tell them she won't be down for dinner, they would call to see. Her laundry is picked up, too. It's very clean and very bright. There are a lot of common areas to gather. The staff are very helpful. I've interacted with them a lot. They've answered my questions. They've given me brochures because I told them that I would be interested in living there down the road, so they're very helpful. My friend loves it there. The only thing that I didn't like about Delmar Gardens compared to the other facility is that it doesn't have as much outside space as walkways and stuff. They have places to sit. They have a little putting green. I saw a pool, but I'm the type who loves to walk, and if we move into a place, I'll be looking for a place where I can walk around outside a lot. They have lots of activities though."
