I'm moving into The Chelsea at Brookhaven. It's three years old, and it's a lot cheaper. It looked a little bit better as far as the food. The overall experience was good. They took me around. They said, 'Whatever you want to know, just ask us.' Overall, it was an excellent experience. The unit is probably bigger than where I'm living now. It's a nice-sized one-bedroom. It had all the kitchen facilities. It had a washer and dryer. It's brand new, too. The one downside is that it's like a new community, so there's some development going on as far as condominiums and stuff like that. It may be a little hectic out in that area. They have activities. They gave me a list of stuff. They have a bus that takes you around on trips. They have bingo. They're all set up pretty much the same. The people are nice. I met some people that live there. I've talked to seven or eight people, and they said they loved the place.

We like the view and location at The Chelsea at Brookhaven, but the rooms or apartments were so small. Everything else about the place was beautiful. It was serene, the location was really pretty and peaceful, and the place itself is brand new. Just walking around and seeing the amenities, everything looks very nice. Now the thing about The Chelsea is, in the independent living part of that, you don't get your meals or as many activities or things like that. That was a big difference between that one and the other places we toured. But the independent living was a lot cheaper, it was like you're independent. We also saw the assisted living and that was very nicely done. The assisted living part of it wasn't open yet so they had no meals at that point; it was supposed to open after the holidays.

I've toured a place called The Chelsea at Brookhaven. They allowed me to visit inside the facility. It's good. I'm going to consider it. The only downside is that they are 25 miles away from me. It's a little far, but it may be worth it. I visited both the independent and assisted living. The staff members were good. The room was excellent. It's one of the nicest rooms I've seen. The kitchen is going to be in the assisted living section, but they have not yet opened the assisted living, and that's due to open any week now.

The Chelsea at Brookhaven is beautiful, brand new, and the apartments are lovely, but they do not supply meals or housekeeping. The staff member who showed me around was very nice. It hadn't opened yet, and it wasn't what we were looking for. We were looking for independent living, but with someone cleaning and cooking. It felt homey.
