My mother is a resident of Sunrise of Holbrook. The community looks beautiful, and they keep up the grounds, it's perfect. The rooms and the common areas are very nice. I've noticed over the years, and I don't know if it's a staffing issue as of late, but it seems to me that the individual rooms aren't kept quite as nice as they used to be. I go in there and the rug is dirty, and it was never that way several years ago. Maybe they've slipped a little, and it may be a question of staffing, but it's not quite as clean and orderly as it used to be. The general appearance is okay, but it could use a little sprucing up, things like just vacuuming the rug. My mom is mostly in charge of her room, her neighbor has a room, and they share the bathroom facility, and that's all fine. I just think they're a little bit lax in the housekeeping department, other than that, it's all fine. They usually have a list of the activities planned, whether it's bingo, which my mother would participate in sometimes, or some sort of a game, or some exercise. They offer a lot if the person is interested in participating. My mother is now 89, so she tends to nap a little bit more than getting involved in the program, so, I'm not faulting the program people. One thing I would like to see is that they physically get them outdoors a little bit more than they do, and they don't seem to. All summer, the weather's been nice, and they used to have programs where they'd go outside for a barbecue. I can't remember the last time I heard about that. It would be nice if they brought some of the folks out and circulated them around and let them sit outdoors a little bit more than what they seem to do now. I never had a meal there; they don't even offer you a cup of coffee. They have this bistro area where you can sit, but I don't know if it's because of COVID and all of that, but they don't even want you to be around. There's never any courtesy like that. They used to do that years ago, they would offer you coffee and there would be a coffee machine, but no more. The rooms aren't that clean and neat anymore. To be fair, it used to be, that I would go visit my mother in her room so I could tidy up or put things away or whatever. If she had a pile of laundry, I'd ask if my mother can get her laundry done. Now they don't even want you to go up to a room. I think that correlates to how clean the room is because they know the family isn't going up there, so they don't bother to vacuum, dust, and clean the place as much. They're quick to put someone on needing an extra level of care but very slow to take them off. So, you have to kind of hound them like, "Does my mother require this extra level of care?" They said "Well, we're going to meet next Tuesday." and then they don't get back to you. They kind of drag their feet, but they're quick to put her on. I mean, before she's even headed to the hospital, they're saying she's going to require an extra level of care. So, it's a little one-sided to their benefit.

Sunrise of Holbrook was nice, but it was too expensive. They want to charge $4,000 just to get in the door. They had nice gardening and outside seating. The people are great. The person who took us around was helpful, gave a lot of information, answered all the questions, and gave some advice. He was nice and friendly.

I toured Sunrise of Holbrook. I like the openness and the airiness. The people that work there, in general, are informative, and very nice, and even some of the patient's family I spoke to. They had nothing but good words to say about them. They showed me the kitchen. I did try a little of their dessert, and it was excellent. Everything is excellent there. I like the aides and the staff. They're always helping the patients in one way or another. No one's hiding from anyone and everyone is open. The patients looked happy, clean, and very healthy. The staff was excellent.

We've been to Sunrise of Holbrook to tour. I liked the property, I thought it was beautiful, and the staff was very nice. The place was almost as expensive as where my mother is now but dated. It needed to be upgraded. The facility was large, and the rooms seemed dim, and were not brightly lit up, while the other place we toured had the rooms sunny and bright. I felt that the staff members were very nice, but I just didn't feel like they went above and beyond. I felt much more welcome at this other place I visited. I also got to see their movie and entertainment center, they had everything, including a gym and a salon.

Sunrise of Holbrook is beautiful. It is very pleasant. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Inside is immaculate. They have plenty of dining areas. They explain the food. It's three times a day and snacks two times a day. There are 10 living rooms, and they're humongous. They have the TV going on all the time. Everything was explained to us. It was nice. The two-bedroom was nice, and they said that we can get our own furniture in there, so it was very, very pleasant. They showed Mom around. Right now, she's reluctant to go. I said, 'What do you think?' And she said, 'It's nice, but I just need my time to make up my mind.' The rooms are immaculate. The bathrooms are huge to get a wheelchair in for access. On every floor, the nurse station is close by. The staff said you can decorate the room the way you want, so that was good. You can bring your own TV there, so it was good. They'll take you out shopping. They'll do the hair. They have puzzles. They got bingo. They got activities all the time. Plus, they do exercises with them to keep them active and stuff. The staff was all pleasant. They were busy, the nurses and all, but they did say hello. The secretary at the desk when we walked in was really sweet. It was very good. Another thing they do is they come in and housekeep for you also.

Our tour experience with Sunrise of Holbrook was very good. We liked the facilities. The level of nursing care that they provide seemed to be what is needed for mom. The location is very good for my sister and I. It's pretty much right between us, so we both have about the same amount of drive time to it. The person that showed us the place was very good and very thorough. She went over everything with us. Everything seemed very clean. They have nice common areas. We liked the fact that everybody seems to congregate in one room, where they have a TV and stuff.

Sunrise of Holbrook was very old inside, but the outside was very quaint. It looks like a country type and it is pretty. I just didn't feel comfortable there. Neither did my husband. The people that work there seemed to be cheerful and happy, but the residents didn't. The rooms were big and they have a mini kitchen in them. They have many, many places for the residents to relax and sit down, but the furniture and the things surrounding it have been well-used, like when you're sitting on a couch for a long time and it sags. To me, it needs an internal overhaul.

My mother-in-law is in Sunrise of Holbrook. As far as I know, she's being taken care of well right now. Everything there is clean. She seems content and cared for, and that's all we were looking for. She has her own room. It has a sitting area, a bedroom area, her own bathroom, and a little kitchen area. All it has is a sink and some cabinets, no appliances or anything like that. They have a dining area there that she eats in. You can choose whichever room that you prefer, but she has dementia. I don't think anybody has appliances or anything in their kitchens, but the room could be smaller or it could be larger. It depends on what you're looking for. She's not in memory care as of yet. Because of Covid, there's really not too much going on right now. I know when COVID isn't going on, they have a lot of activities. As of right now, that has kind of stopped. There's an outside area, a library, a general television area to sit and watch TV, and a coffee bar area where they put out tea, coffee, and cookies in the evening. The nurses are very caring and helpful. Any time I go there, the food is all she talks about. It's always about how good the food is. I don't know where she thinks she is, but she says the food is very good. She's actually gained 5 pounds since she's been there, so it's a good thing.

I visited Sunrise of Holbrook for my wife. I was very familiar with it because my father-in-law had been there for a couple of months about 10 years ago. The facility was very good, and I'm very happy with it. The room was very nice. It had a dresser, a couple of night tables, a nice bed, a nice closet, and a nice bathroom. It was pretty good. The people there seemed happy.

The grandmother of my husband is in Sunrise of Holbrook. It's beautiful outside, but when you go in, sometimes her room isn't clean, and the laundry gets mixed up. They had entertainment come in quite often, they do chair exercises, they would play games, like a wheel of fortune type thing, but with COVID, everything stopped. Some of the staff is excellent, but others are horrible.

We visited Sunrise of Holbrook. It was not as nice, and it was more expensive. The apartments were OK. They had activities. I saw their dining area, which looked nice. The person we met with was very nice; however, they needed a few updates to the building.

Sunrise of Holbrook was very lovely, the rooms were small, and they had lots of sitting areas around. The people were much older there. I saw a lot of people sitting in wheelchairs. The staff was wonderful and very helpful to me. The rooms were adequate; they had studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom. They had trips and activities, but the clientele was older and less mobile. They have snack bars, show movies, have a hair salon, a wellness center, and the dining room was very nice. They have activities in the solarium and different areas. If you're 90, it's perfect.

Sunrise of Holbrook has been great. They're very polite and helpful. I have nothing bad to say; so far, so good. My husband has been staying there for about a month, and he likes it and is getting adjusted to it, so it's working out really well. They're polite, very kind, and very helpful if I have any questions. My husband has his own single room and everything is clean and kept up to date. He could basically do anything he would like to participate in. They have an area where they have books and play Bingo and games to keep them busy. They have three meals, and my husband says everything is great.

My father was in Sunrise of Holbrook. There was a Road Home Program to get them a little more acclimated after being in rehab. It's a little more intimate. It's smaller and it's not so expensive. You can pretty much get to all the rooms easy from the front door. It's nice and it had a very homey feeling. The dining area was homey as well and they have a private one if you have a party or if you want to sit alone with somebody. They have some trips that you can sign up for and they have a bus that takes them to museums, shopping, or on trips. The staff was very friendly and very good. The food was average. It was a nice, clean, and homey facility.

Sunrise of Holbrook is really nice and the people are very nice. It's more like a home rather than an institution. I don't think there's enough things for the men to do there though since it's 90% women. I talked to them about that and they're trying to pick up some other things for men to do, or maybe have a men's club. A lot of the people there do not like the food. The breakfasts are good, but they all seem to complain about the lunches and dinners, and the selections aren't very good, which is what I hear from my father and other people. Housekeeping comes in every day to make the bed, and once a week they change the bed, do the laundry, and clean the whole place. There are different rooms for people to sit in, and there's a TV in every room. The staff is very good, very friendly, they're always looking after the people there, and they care of my father. They do a lot of things for memory, like matching games to keep their minds active. It's very expensive to stay there since they charge you for everything, like distributing medication, and when you need help with showers, they only assist three times a week. If you want more, you have to pay more. We're paying over $7,000 a month to be there.

Sunrise of Holbrook had grounds to walk on for exercise and fresh air. The food was better than where I am now. They had games, music programs, group activities, and arts and crafts. Their facility was well equipped. You could get a private room if you want to pay extra for it or a semi-private where you could share the bathroom but you have a private bedroom. The facility was clean and well maintained. There wasn't a lot of noise or chaos in the halls or in the public areas. The people were relaxed; you don't have to worry about getting into arguments.

My father-in-law was in a Sunrise facility (Sunrise of Holbrook). I ate there a number of times. Food was OK. It was nothing elaborate, but it was certainly nutritious and edible. The facility was very nice. I don’t remember any of the amenities except the large game areas and talking areas. The nice amenities that I noticed there was they had these sofas that were like in the corners of the building that people could sit down and talk with their loved ones in a very private way, and that was a good feature. The place was definitely clean. The ladies were very lively. They had all sort of games for them.

The place itself was absolutely beautiful. Sunrise of Holbrook is probably the best out of the assisted living facilities that I saw. The staff was great. A lot of the people who were there were still very independent, but when my aunt was there, she was not, and she had an aide. And it was just great; it was like normal living. There were social activities that were nice, the grounds were beautiful, and the people were taken out. They could go shopping if they wanted, and if they were ill, they stayed, of course. It all was really pretty nice. The apartments were gorgeous -- everything was beautiful. It was decorated beautifully, which really has a lot to do with how you feel when you're there. They had lovely things for holidays -- which we went to a few of those -- and it was always really good. And they were very clean; the people who lived there were clean, that was a big deal to us, and that is why we chose it.

We chose Sunrise because of its reputation. It was recommended by other families that had family members there. It is a very nice facility -- very clean and very open. It has a lot of amenities for the people that are staying there. They have a full-time staff like nurses and attendants. They have full-time people at the front door for security. They also have a security on the front door after a certain hour wherein you can't get in without a code. My mom was accepted right away at this place.

My mother is in Sunrise. We chose it because it is lovely, and it has a nice reputation. The staff is attentive and caring. The facility is very nice. She is a private room with a kitchenette and a bathroom. It is small but nice and adequate. They have a lot things going on. She doesn't participate in them, but they are available, like trips and group activities. I am satisfied, and my mom is happy with the facility.

My mother has already been placed in Sunrise of Holbrook. She has been there for about a month now. We found it almost right away, within a couple of weeks, and we're very happy with it. This community is beautiful. It is like a hotel, not like an assisted living place. It is always clean. I can only say great things about this place. Everything is very convenient for my mother. This community is actually 5 minutes from her old house and 5 minutes from my sister's house. The staff is great. They keep their residents pretty active. She plays bingo every day. She also plays cards. They have movie nights. She is religious, so they have Mass on Sunday and a Rosary night that she attends every week. Mom is also happy with the food there. They give them a choice of six meals three times a day. Again, this is a perfect place for her.

My Mother in law was a resident at Sunrise for almost two years. While it was expensive, she was well taken care of. She had dementia and could be difficult. We have no complaints about her care. Our problems occurred when she had a stroke, was hospitalized, then went back under hospice care. She could not swallow, the doctor ordered Ensure pudding at $185 a case. She died a few days later. The pharmacy agreed to credit us for the unused pudding. It disappeared. We also cleaned out her room the day after she died. We were asked if we would donate her clothes, lamps, walker, etc. We agreed, then were charged for an extra day for not cleaning her room. We were forced to pay for the disappearing pudding and for trying to be kind to others. No one returns calls. We even wrote to corporate and have not gotten a response. This makes us think that maybe they are not as good as we thought.

My husband stayed in Sunrise of Holbrook for one and a half year. It was a beautiful place. They decorated it for the holidays at that time. It had a very lovely atmosphere. They also had a lot of activities there. Their food was good. The dining room was very beautiful. They would set the table like in a fancy restaurant. The staff was just beautiful. They took good care of my husband while he was there. However, he needed a lot more care, so we had to put him into a nursing facility.

This place was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and was very helpful. My grandparents seemed happy there and were happy to still be together in the same place. They love it there from the activities to the staff and amenities. I would reccoment this place to anyone who is looking for an assisted living facility.

The staff was nice enough, but they needed to be more attentive of the people working there. The food they gave to the patients did not seem healthy at all, so I even suggested to the workers that they try and get healthier food, or at least options available to the patients. One good thing about the assisted living was that they actually had plenty of activities for the residents to do, things like salons coming in, bingo, and board games. they also had buses to shipping malls or trips to the movies, which was very nice. I think there also could have been more workers for the late night shifts, considering there were too many incidents that needed attention late night, such as residents needed to use the bathroom or otherwise. More attention should have been spent on keeping the public areas clean, as well, but the outdoor areas were quite nice.

I recently visited Sunrise Senior Living in Holbrook to inquire about placement for my husband. The facility is unique in that it looks like a bed and breakfast, rather than an assisted living facility. It is extremely attractive, warm and inviting as you drive up. Once inside, the excitement continues as you try to take in the beautifully decorated areas and homey atmosphere complete with a resident dog, parrot, and bird. I didn't know where to look first! There are several common areas for the residents for activities, movies, big screen T.V. and lounging, as well as a beverage bar and dining room. There are no visitation restrictions and family members may reserve a private dining area for meals with their loved ones. Overall, I'd say Sunrise Senior Living offers a safe, attractive environment with all the comforts of home. The best parts about Sunrise Senior Living in Holbrook are: 1. That it provides a full service program for independent and assisted living for individuals and couples, as well as a more structured, secure and small special needs program for those with conditions such as Alzheimer's, etc. which other similar facilitates may not offer. Hospice services are also available. 2. Individual service plans including grooming, dressing, medication, and socialization activities, with skilled nursing care and rehab therapy are available. 3. Choice of private or shared room complete with basic bedroom furniture, updated bathroom, and small kitchenette area with refrigerator, sink, and storage. 4. Freedom to decorate living space with personal items, photos, and additional furniture. The worst parts about Sunrise Senior Living in Holbrook are: 1. The high cost of fees and rooms, which are private pay, although some financial options are available. Cost depends on the package, level of care and room selected. (Activities, meals, housekeeping, maintenance, insurance and property tax, lawn care and laundry service are included in all packages.) 2. Not having a model room to show prospective residents, as I visited resident rooms and felt a little intrusive. 3. Employees not easily identified. Although they did have small badges, the clothing they wore allowed them to blend easily with the well-dressed residents. Out of five stars, I would rank the grounds, the common areas, the specialty areas such as the whirlpool room a five. I would rate the residents' rooms a four if the room is shared because I felt it was a little small for two people, but if you have the entire room as a private room, I would rate it a five. Since I had limited exposure to the staff and did not see a lot of interaction or conversation with the residents during my 45-minute visit, I would have to give this area a three. Likewise, I could not gauge the quality of care from firsthand experience during my visit, so I would have to give it a three, although both these areas may be above this level. As far as organized activities, there was a small group playing bingo, but not much else was going on while I was there. Some residents were sitting in the common areas; others were in their rooms. The menu was very inclusive with residents having several choices. Overall, I would give Sunrise Senior Living in Holbrook four out of five stars. I would recommend anyone seeking these services to visit this facility. If you can afford it, it will be well worth your time.

My husband's grandfather is at Sunrise Assisted Living in their locked unit. The have a special section available for those who are confused or wander. The rooms are well kept, a nice size and have a bathroom and small kitchenette. There is a nice frame outside the room with his name and things that are special to him so he knows which is his room. He was allowed to bring in his own furniture so the room looks very homey. The staff is always nice and helpful, very friendly. I always see the same staff also. They always have fun activities going on. We seen piano music, petting zoos, Halloween trick or treating, special holiday dinners, luaus, and all kinds of fun activities. My only concern is that they let the residents lock their doors. While the staff has a key, it just gives me the sense that they don't open it except for meal time. The food always smells good and they serve it family style.Families visit a lot, which makes me believe that we are not the only ones who are very satisfied with them. They even have facility pets, and an activities department as well as a physical therapy department. They have it all.
