busting my mother out of here

Disappointing, except for rehabilitation department and small handful of nurses and staff. Huge turnover administratively, very unresponsive to inquiries. Csn’t be bothered to pick up phone, return calls or respond to emails. That goes for main numbers and nurses stations too. Failed to advise family of at least 2 falls. Failed to communicate medical concerns and symptoms to doctor resulting in a rehospitalization. Not knowledgeable to assist or perhaps unwilling to assist with insurance and/ or medicaid effectively as I have points of reference with other facilities. Not acting in the best interests and well being of patients. Policy first even if it hurts the patient physically. Too many water spots on floor and ceilings, I suspect unhealthy mold issues. I suspect that they are frequently understaffed and staff that is there sometimes pretends to not hear patient requests and walks away. Staff goofs off too. Sitting off in a corner playing with their cell phones is a frequent sight. Sometimes they hide in kitchen and you can hear laughter and giggles and not one staff person on floor, could go on for 15, 20 minutes at a time. I have witnessed it first hand. Food isn’t fit to feed my dog. Generally speaking in my opinion they treat people like cattle with no consideration or empathy for the human being they are charged with. Tragic really. Luckily my loved one is only there for a few more days.

Filthy place, rude, minimal compassion or empathy, and very difficult to get through to speak with anyone on the phone. Most of the nursing staff that I experienced don't care to communicate with the family, the care team says they will work with you but they do not, and getting any kind of simple update is like pulling teeth. This facility is horrendous, if the option were available, ZERO stars.

My aunt stayed at Manor Care Mountainside for rehab. She's been there a few times in the past few years. The blinds in her room were dirty, the walls were chipped, and neither one of the TVs had a remote. I kept asking for one, and the nurse just went to another room and got one for me. The rehab staff and the nurses were really good. The food seemed fine. They had bingo and a few other things. Her room was clean and the floors were always clean, but the blinds needed to be replaced and some of the furniture was very dinged up. It looked very rundown.

My mother-In-law is very happy with Manor Care Mountainside. She's in long-term care there. I'm very pleased with the facilities. It's very clean and up-to-date, and the staff is very responsive. The physical therapy and various activities that they have for the residents are very good. Her room has a bathroom, a digital TV, and a telephone, and it's sufficient. The food appears to be adequate. She takes part in some of the activities like Bingo, different shows, live performances, and games. It seems to be more than a sufficient amount of activities to keep her occupied.

ONE STAR IS REALLY TOO GOOD FOR THEM THE PLACE IS HORRIBLE. DIRTY, NO CARE FOR THE PATIENTS. I FOUND MY MOTHER NAKED IN THE BED TOO MANY TIMES. IMPOSSIBLE TO GET SOMEONE TO TAKE HER TO THE BATHROOM.. NURSES NEVER CHECKED ON THE PATIENTS-JUST STOOD AT THE DESK TALKING. IF YOU HAD AN ANT AS A PET I WOULDN'T LET YOU SEND THE ANT THERE. I AM AFRAID OF THAT PLACE. I CRIED EVERYTIME I LEFT HER. THANK GOD WE TOOK HER HOME.

We were very happy with the 11 to 7 shift, one aid inpeticular, Arlene was pleasant to our aunt making her feel like family by taking the time to talk to her and answering the call bell prompletly. The nurse Joy was also pleasant to her. They worked as a team always smiling. I'd definitely recommend this facility.

Horrible place! Do not send your loved ones! My dad was treated terrible - yelled at and he contracted pneumonia! Staff refused to call 911! My mom called and Overlook hospital doctors said he would have died if he didn't go to hospital that night! 2 elderly men were fighting, yes fighting in their wheelchairs, too! Crazy zoo!

The PT department is good and very caring. For long-term care: not so good. Rooms small and difficult for wheelchairs to maneuver. Only a few aides seem to care about patients and interact with them. Need more aides who do the brunt of the work with patients: bathing, feeding, changing diapers. Same with nursing staff: some attentive to patients & friendly, others cranky. If your family member has dementia, go elsewhere with them!! If your family member, can get around and speak for themselves, they will fare better.
