READ MOREOverseeing Wisconsin’s memory care facilities is the responsibility of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Along with the state’s nursing homes and assisted living communities, Wisconsin’s memory care facilities are officially categorized as community-based residential facilities. The Wisconsin DHS’ Division of Quality Assurance is specifically tasked with ensuring the welfare of those living in CBRFs.
No organization tracks pricing data specifically related to memory care; we’ve used the cost of assisted living as reported by the annual Genworth 2021 Cost of Care Survey to approximate prices. Assisted living usually costs about 20-30% less than memory care; therefore, the lists below estimate memory costs to be 25% higher than assisted living costs.
At $6,655 per month, Waukesha County’s memory care costs are relatively high. The U.S. average is roughly $1,000 lower at $5,625, and the average across Wisconsin is $5,750. Green Bay’s costs are lower than all the above at $5,563 per month. Costs are an estimated $6,000 per month in Madison, while Racine has the state’s highest costs at $6,813.
