I'm currently at Newcastle Place. I've been here for 8 to 10 years now. I've been here a long time, so I must be pretty satisfied. The place had been bought several times during these years. Initially, when I first came, I believe it was more like a not-for-profit place, and over time, it was now a for-profit company. So they look for any way that they can cut back, and with that done, they have not compromised the quality that much. We've noticed a decrease in the quality of the foodservice. It's not below average or nothing is unacceptable. It's just that before, it was higher quality. The maintenance has stayed pretty good. The housekeeping has been good. The response time to problems has been good. The staff is generally in a good mood. My room is considered as one-bedroom in the mid-size range. It does not have a dishwasher, a cooktop, oven, or garbage disposal, I think, all for safety reasons. The bathroom is a shower, toilet, and sink. Well, there's pool and whirlpool, which has been out of commission, it seemed like for a long time, but it is there. They have exercise classes and yoga classes. Every morning there's an exercise class that people could do like from your wheelchair or your chair. Every day there are several activities to pick from. We have happy hours. There's a fair amount of bingo. Every day, there are one or two group activities like crafts and those things. They'll show video in the corporate gathering room. They have coffee and donut in the morning. They have bible studies, they have a chapel with church services, different denominations, and whatnot. There are some things they could probably be added to improve a little bit. They're expensive but you get what you pay for. It is expensive, but the value is still there.

My husband was admitted to New Castle early yesterday evening. He did not receive his nightly medication last night or this morning which he desperately needs being a diabetic and other health concerns. The nurse we kept speaking with was doing all she could, but stated that her supervisor had to put in the order and she was no were to be found. This went on for over two hours being told it was being worked on. Finally a family member went home and got my husband medication. In the mean time his blood sugar was over 400. As of 4:30 this afternoon my husband hadn't heard if they had received his medication. In addition to that, his call button didn't work last night or this morning. My husband had to yell for help last night which he was told was not appreciated. They said they fixed the button this afternoon, but it still wasn't working, so they gave him a bell to ring if he needed help He choose this rehab because it received 4 stars. As of this afternoon, we would not give it even one star. Very disappointed how his last 24 hours have been.

I was recently taken to Newcastle after having a major back surgery. It was the worst night of my life. The admitting nurse and aides argued over who was going to be assigned to me since they were already overworked. I was taken to my room and essentially left there. It took 20-25 minutes to get someone to respond to my call light. I asked 4-5 staff members if I could have my pain meds and was told they would check and get back to me. I finally got some 15 hours after arriving. They only had 1 night time staff member on duty yet I required 2 to move me. I need help lifting my legs up to the bed. The aide did that and then just dropped them causing pain to shoot up my back. That morning I refused further treatment and signed myself out. I was afraid that my surgery would be compromised if I had stayed.

My mother lived at Newcastle Assisted Living for a few weeks before breaking her hip. We have no complaints about care and service provided at the Assisted Living. After breaking her hip she was discharged to Newcastle's rehab unit which was a completely different experience. Unlike the Assisted Living, the rehab facility is not attractive. My mother's room was small and joyless. The common room is filled with old mismatched furniture situated so that residents are not seated together. The same completed jigsaw puzzle was on the table the entire time we were there. Next to the common room two aides were always there talking to each other. When asked for help, they talked to each other, not my mother. We noticed changes in my mother's condition and made the staff aware. I'm not sure how bad things would have had to have gotten before any of their staff noticed.

I went to Newcastle Place. My first impression was that it was a castle. It was very ornate. There's a lot of stone walking around in there. It was almost like in a museum. It was very clean. It wasn't a place for kids, that's for sure, and it seemed very upper class. When we got there, it seemed like they were ready for us. The activities looked very nice. There were plenty of things to do. They have a happy hour every day and my mom liked that. The pool was nice, and they had a gazebo and areas to kind of congregate. It had a very nice feel to it. It just wasn't for my parents. It was very nice, very clean, and seemed very safe. I'm sure they would have enjoyed living there, but it was way more expensive, too. It was by far the most expensive of the ones we visited, so that was a bit prohibitive that way. The staff was nice.

After touring several Senior Living facilities 3 years ago, my family made the decision to move my parents to Newcastle Place Independent Living. Since that time, we have been extremely impressed & so grateful for the outstanding support & concern the entire staff has demonstrated for our parents. Everyone has been so very kind & accessible, accommodating my mom & dad’s needs. This was especially evident when my mom broke her hip which required surgery. After being discharged, she was transferred to NP Rehab Facility... & continued to receive excellent care. Both Newcastle Place AL & IL did a seamless job securing a smooth transition for my mom as she returned to Independent Living. And, the staff did & continues to provide exceptional care catering to my dad’s special needs. NewcastlePlace has more than reassured us that they/we have made the ‘Absolute’ right decision to be part of the Newcastle Place CARING Community!❤️

Hello, my Mom has been a resident at New Castle Place Independent Living for over ten years and we truly appreciate the attentiveness of the staff, the activities that are provided, the good food, the peacefulness of the campus, and the nice proximity it is to stores, medical facilities and entertainment.

Newcastle Place has been a fantastic home for my parents. They are currently in Independent Living, and any time they need anything it’s taken care of. This is important, as we live quite far away from Mequon, and aren’t able to get there to help out when it’s needed. The staff have been absolutely wonderful to my parents, and to me when I e been there. My parents have taken advantage of the pool, the gym, the church services, some of the crafts, and the dining room. The food is pretty decent, too. The apartments are very nice;just the right size. I like that they can be customized to meet each resident’s preferences.

I recently moved my mother to an assisted living apartment at Newcastle Place. The facility and apartments are lovely with quite a bit of private living space - bedroom, living room and even a kitchenette. The common areas are beautiful and the library even has a lovely fireplace. All the staff have been so kind and helpful getting her moved in and also keeping me informed of what activities she's participating in and how she's doing. There's always some sort of class or activity that is taking place and she's been joining in often. I've heard many people say it's the Cadillac of senior living centers and it has lived up to that reputation.

I am so happy with the entire staff at Newcastle from administration to caregivers to activity providers. We do not know what we would have done without having a place for mom where she was safe and cared for that was also close enough for us to visit, albeit through a window at first, but now in person. They provide wonderful feedback and answer all our questions. We look forward to being able to spend more time with mom as we transition back to normal. We are happy and relieved to have an option as wonderful as Newcastle for our mom's care.

We have our 97-year-old mother at Newcastle Place in Mequon. It's been great, she has received excellent care, she loves the community, she loves all of the activities they do with her, and she couldn't be any happier. The staff is terrific, they couldn't be any nicer and any more professional. She absolutely adores them. Newcastle is a godsend, it's provided everything she needed and much, much more. The environment is wonderful, their food is wonderful, their nursing and attention to all of the residents is wonderful. I was surprised at the size of her assisted living room. The independent living apartment she moved into in this facility was way more spacious than the one we moved her from in Ohio, so she was very happy in independent living. We were concerned that the size of her assisted living apartment may not be enough for her, but we were pleasantly surprised at the size of it. She was actually able to keep about 90 percent of everything she had in her former apartment and put it in her assisted living room.

Newcastle is a wonderful place for your loved one. My mother is in the memory care community and is enjoying the interactions with staff and is very comfortable in her surroundings. She enjoys spending time with the other residents, engaging in activities such as floral arrangement, listening to music, watching movies and sporting events, and going to the beauty parlor. The staff always keeps me updated with her health and other situations that may arise. They have always been very helpful. Newcastle is a safe and friendly environment. When I visit there is always someone there to greet me and provide assistance. This is the case for our relatives and friends who come to visit my mother as well. COVID has presented many challenges and Newcastle has always taken the best approach sticking to the state regulations regarding keeping those at Newcastle as safe as possible. I feel very confident they will protect my mother as best they can from the virus. Overall, I feel Newcastle is the best fit for my mother and for any other individual who is looking for a safe, inviting, exciting place to call home.

My mother started at Newcastle Place in Independent living. It was a wonderful experience. Everyone paid attention to her to make sure she was well and taking care of herself. The food was amazing. We recently had to move her to assisted living. The move was well coordinated and happened without an issue. Her room is very similar to her apartment in independent living so this made mom feel at home. She lived in a facility in Ohio. It amazes me how much better Newcastle Place is. The employees, the food and the nursing staff have all exceeded my expectations!

I love my apartment and love being able to look out my window and visit with family. Throughout my time here the staff have been amazing and are so dedicated to their work. The activity programming is wonderful and kept us very busy pre-Covid. I have enjoyed making this my home.

I have to say that all the staff at Newcastle are stars! My mother lives in Independent Living and recently broke her wrist. When she fell the rapid responder was there to attend to her. When I went to see her, outside of course, she was very supportive of both my mother and me on deciding what to do next. The staff helped me find the extra help that my mother needed...and even the help as simple as helping her zip her coat! My mother loves the cooking and art classes and the Bingo too!

Living at Newcastle is a wonderful experience. It is different now, because of Covid, however the important things are still in place. I feel safe. The staff is caring and concerned. The food I excellent, served daily to our rooms. When Covid is done (soon, I hope) things will return to the gracious and loving style that Newcastle is know to offer. Patience on behalf of everyone is important to reach that goal. Until the, smiling under your mask is in style!

Since I lost my mobility and ability to breathe and need oxygen I find the workers are so well trained to take care of me I feel the staff treat me as a personal friend and really get to know me and interact with me by name. This gives me a special feeling of importance. Anytime I need something I am met with an immediate solution and response to my problem or dilemma's. The community always assisted with my moving and made me feel safe.

My parents are staying at Newcastle Place. They're happy there. Everything has been good. The staff members are always good; I never had a problem with them. They have been wonderful. The services are all good, too. Nobody has any problem. My parents have two separate rooms. There are plenty of activities available for them but they haven't been partaking; however, they take them out for exercises.

My husband was sent to Newcastle Place for Rehab after a hospital stay. Because of his needs he was placed in skilled nursing. Everyone we encountered from the driver that picked him up at the hospital to the young woman who cleaned his room were more than courteous. The staff was excellent and the care he received was outstanding. The entire facility is clean and inviting. I would not hesitate to recommend Newcastle Place.

My wife and I recently moved to Newcastle Place and reside in one of the carriage houses. Our entire Newcastle experience to date has been excellent. The accommodating staff is both knowledgeable and helpful. The residents are friendly and inclusive. The campus with its many amenities is outstanding and the knowledge that additional care service is available as needed is reassuring. Residents have a variety of activities available to them. High marks go to food services which provides residents with a wide variety of choices of outstanding and delicious food.

My mother, who is now 95, has been a resident of Newcastle Place for 6 years. She was in independent living for 5 years and has been in the memory care unit for the last year. Newcastle Place is a beautiful facility and offers first a first environment and excellent continuing care for my mother. All of the staff are well trained professionals who take a personal interest in the residents. I am grateful for the care my mother has received at Newcastle Place

As a thirteen year resident of Newcastle Place I have had the opportunity to experience practically every phase of senior living. My wife and I had an apartment where we lived until my wife needed skilled care. The care could not have been better. The staff is caring and competent and in my opinion far above the average. We have two dining rooms well managed and well trained chefs and staff. The food and service make dining a pleasure. To keep one fit we have a fitness program and a variety of equipment in the gym-pool and whirlpool. An excellent transportation service; entertainment on a regular basis, outings; church services by our own chaplain. The building and grounds are beautiful and the people are friendly (much like a family). This is without a doubt a five star place to live.

This is a community of welcoming residents and staff who you can engage in conversation, trips, meals and other activities, but if you desire to be alone you can do so. The facilities are visually like a home and not institutional. Residents can suggest activities or trips and the staff will move on with the planning and scheduling. Communications with the residents are extensive with a staff newsletter, bulletin board postings and a resident written and picture newsletter. Transportation is provided for all purposes and nature abounds in and on the campus grounds and ponds.

I have lived at Newcastle for 13 years and have enjoyed all facilities, faculty and appreciate their ability to "keep us alive" . We have everything we need and my family is very happy that I am content and happy also. I would recommend this living to anyone. It could not be more perfect. I have the best in life and am very grateful.
