Located less than 15 miles south of Des Moines, Shirlee's Retirement Home in Indianola sits in a residential community surrounded by small towns in semi-rural Iowa. Shirlee's neighborhood is a few miles west of National Classic Balloon Field, where every summer, over 100 hot air balloons race in a nine-day event, and seniors are welcome to bring their support animals.
