I can’t say enough good things about Senior Care Homes. I love the model that has a great ratio between residents and care providers. Both my parents were in two separate houses and I appreciated how much they truly cared for both of them and made such an effort to attend to their needs and the family. Everything is very clean and the food was great and cooked right there. I highly recommend Senior Care Homes.

About SeniorCare Homes in Overland Park, Kansas
SeniorCare Homes is changing the way you think of memory care living options. We offer care in specially renovated real-home environments with the emphasis on providing the most personalized care and services you'll find anywhere. Our homes offer a smaller, more personal alternative to a traditional Alzheimer's or memory care facility. Certified Care Attendants provide care in specially designed residential homes with 24-hour supervision, security for every resident and peace of mind for your family. The best part is that each home is limited to just 5-8 residents who enjoy a variety of daily activities only possible in a real home setting.
SeniorCare Homes offers the most safe, stable and comfortable living environment you'll find anywhere. The smaller environments allow us to recruit and retain the best possible Care Attendants, virtually eliminate staff turnover and have four straight deficiency free surveys with the State of Kansas. The trend toward smaller, more personal senior care options is gaining momentum around the country. With a smaller number of residents, there is more time for Care Attendants to monitor each resident throughout a typical day. We strive to to be proactive in helping residents retain their health by anticipating needs and providing necessary care and support on an incredibly personal level.

SeniorCare Homes was nice, but I was particularly unimpressed with the staff members. Most of them were foreigners and I had trouble communicating with them. The rooms were nice. They gave me a sheet with a bunch of different activities that they have for the tenants. They had lots of activities planned every day.

The SeniorCare Homes model is different to that usually found in Assisted Living Communities. The owner renovates existing, single-family homes for wheelchair access and other concerns and uses those homes as his care facilities. His two largest homes house 8 residents and have 2 caretakers. Most of the homes offer 1 caretaker and house 4 or 5 residents. I toured a house for 8 people, which he said was just opened last week. The facility is beautiful. He retained the feeling of a single-family home with an open kitchen-dining-living room with granite counters in the kitchen, private bedrooms, and whirlpool bathtubs. It also had a large, fenced yard with a spacious covered patio, paved walking paths, and even a vegetable garden for residents to tend. The house I saw was at the start of a cul-de-sac street, and all the other homes on the street were very large, elegant homes with big, immaculate lawns and white-painted post and rail fences. It's a very picturesque location. In terms of facility, I feel like this is certainly a luxury option, and in my opinion that is reflected in the prices charged by SeniorCare Homes. I visited while the residents were just sitting down to lasagne, steamed mixed veggies, and fruit salad, which looked and smelled good enough to make my mouth water. The caretaker who was there during my visit seemed very friendly and genuine, but the owner himself seems less well-suited to direct participation in the care, in my opinion. I also had some concerns about the nature of directed activities at these facilities. The owner wants each facility to create its own, unique schedule of activities based on its residents, but I felt there may not really be enough structure in the scheduling to suit the needs of Alzheimer's and Dementia patients, or more active residents. In addition, I was a little concerned about the staffing of the facilities. The owner did not talk in great detail about the medical training of his caretakers, or the way shifts are scheduled, but I would want a lot more information about those things before I suggested this facility for a loved one. I would recommend looking at this facility if you want to see a luxury option, or for patients who need to have a very small, controlled group of people around them, but I would ask some serious questions before signing anything.
