I visited Mission Chateau. When I asked them questions, they couldn't answer some of the questions for me, which surprised me. The facility was fine. They have a pool, a physical fitness center, and a dining room. What drew me there is some good friends of mine have lived there for about two years, and I visited them regularly and I loved it every time I went in. I was just kind of taken aback that they couldn't answer all my questions. The rooms were very nice. Their food was very good. They had a lovely dining room. Their price is one of the higher ones, and in their brochure, they always say that there's $1,000 veterans benefits available, and when I was talking to them, this lady said she'd never heard of it. As we were sitting there, the director of the whole place was walking by, and she asked him to come over and explain it to me. He said, "I've never seen one of those go through," so I don't know why all those people listed that there's a benefit, because I was married to and buried three veterans and I thought veterans would certainly help. Their care is just wonderful though.

We are on the waiting list for Mission Chateau. We chose them because the people we met and talked to, including the person who showed us around and gave us the tour was spectacular, and that was a very important reason. And the second major reason was the financial model that was used, there was no large buy-in upfront. The person who toured us was friendly, professional, thorough, and a good listener. The place had the things we were looking for. I can't do much physically anymore except swim, and it does have a swimming facility. There are all sorts of activities, clubs, and gatherings that we can choose to get involved in if we want to.

Mission Chateau’s primary focus in independent living. They advertise memory care, but are very selective in who they take and do not have skilled nursing. If you move there with a loved one and eventually need memory care, they will tell you they take only “high functioning” memory care residents. They do not offer continuing life care and at some point your will have to move. If you visit, do your homework on elder care and ask questions. They will not be forthcoming on what they do not offer. Tutera Senior Living has a huge focus on the bottom line and the empathy, love and compassion for the elderly is missing.

I toured Mission Chateau. It was clean, well-managed, and in good shape. Everything was nice. It was well kept up and it was at a high level of quality. I had a hamburger there and it was not burnt.

Mission Chateau is an incredible place. It seems like they offer every amenity that would be available to anybody. You could tell when you walk in that it was way above the budget for my wife. I thought I had an appointment, but I didn't. The staff (her name is Lisa) came down and visited with me, even though she had some other appointments coming in. I spent about 10 minutes with her, and I was very impressed. I waited for a little while for her and was able to see interaction between front desk and staff. It looked like the employees seemed very competent, and it was a great place to go. You walk in, and it was like, 'Wow. This is a great place.' The one-bedroom would be the one that I would be interested in, and it was larger than most that I've seen. The facility was not very old. Everything looked perfect. They had a lot of outdoor areas that were nicely done.

Mission Chateau is very nice. It's extremely upscale. All the amenities are extremely upscale and extremely expensive. It was extremely expensive. It's in a very, very expensive end of town and it shows. It's an extremely nice community. It's beautiful. The apartments were extremely nice. They had hardwood-type floors in the living areas, which was important to me as a wheelchair patient. The tour guide showed us around the different places in the building, but she didn't share the activities with us. We didn't get a full idea of what the activities were. It looked like they might have been getting ready for the football game and that's about it, that's all we saw. It was a Saturday, so there didn't seem to be much going on.

I picked Mission Chateau because it was very clean and very new. I didn't notice any odors or anything like that. It's also very close to my home. My mom moved in last month. They're doing the best they can in the circumstances that we are in right now. They've had a lot of turnover, and I think they're a relatively young facility. I just think that they need some additional training on how to treat people with memory care. I think the food is really good. They keep her very busy. They're in a Covid lockdown because they've had an outbreak. Prior to this outbreak, she was very busy. She doesn't have Covid, so she could leave her room; however, all activities have been canceled because of the Covid outbreak.

I toured Mission Chateau. The staff treated me very well, they were friendly, they were informative, they did a very thorough tour of the facility, and made sure I had any questions answered. The facility itself was very light, bright, up-to-date, and clean. It's almost like a country club. It is so nice. Their food service thing looked pretty awesome, because it looked like they had a breakfast bar, like every morning you come down and have your breakfast cooked to order. That was something different than I saw in any of the other places where you had a lot better choice for food. So, food is important. The downside of Mission Chateau was the size of the apartments were fairly small compared to others. They had a swimming pool, they had a whole weight room. It was kind of more like a country club, but my mother-in-law was just not a country club kind of gal, so that just wasn't going to work for her.
