My parents are in long-term care at Rosegate. They seem to be taken care of well. I haven't had any problems with them. Their room is pretty homey. If I was to say something bad, it would probably be that they probably should have somebody cleaning it a little more. I clean the room twice a week because they don't get cleaned as much. Other than that, they do a good job, and they do what they can. Food is hit and miss, but overall, it's good. I substitute them with snacks. I bring stuff just in case what they get isn't filling. They get a lot better meals. I specifically asked my stepdad this question yesterday, and he said that he liked it a whole lot better than the other place. The staff has been helpful. If I have any concerns, they address it well. My mom got dementia, so they don't discuss a whole lot of matters with her, but they take care of everything.

I discovered that the weekday staff and the weekend staff are totally different regarding care. I assume the reason is that no one feels accountable on the weekend. Very, very disappointed in the patient care and the ability to get any information about my resident over the phone. Don’t know if I would recommend Rosegate.

My mother went into Rosegate rehab for PT and OT after a week-long hospitalization for atrial fibrillation. She had been here about a year ago, but it has gone downhill. She had a roommate with dementia that yelled constantly, would steal her telephone, and laid on her call light constantly. The aides frequently ignored her call light. Her roommate made it worse by lying on her call light, but that is no excuse to not respond. Sometimes the call light was clipped to the bed for easy access and sometimes it would fall on the floor. My Mom called me several times after waiting for up to an hour and a half for someone to respond to the call light. I had to call the front desk to get someone to check on her. At one point my mother asked if she should call the police to get them to respond! She and her roommate contracted Covid while there and were in isolation for 10 days. The staff kept masks on but the Covid protocols for patients was almost non-existent. They never made anyone wear a mask, which made no sense, especially with rehab patients that were using the same equipment. Because of Covid her PT/OT was very limited and put her progress behind. The night aides were particularly nonresponsive and seemed to have limited supervision. The number of aides was not proportionate to the number of patients. One of the day shift employees would mumble to herself and was rude to the more challenging patients. I filed a written complaint and met with the Head of Nursing. My complaints included a pill left on the floor, unsteady tray table, roommate issue, not answering the call light and not monitoring her heart rate during PT. Two days later they still had not fixed the problems so I had to verbally complain again. (I picked up the pill myself the day of complaint.) The food was usually cold when delivered to her room but fairly good in the dining room although service was slow and she was not returned to her room in a timely fashion. The RNs, PT, OT, van drivers and social worker were all helpful and caring but seemed overwhelmed by unqualified aides and the staff shortages. Needless to say we were not happy with Rosegate Village and would never go there again. I highly recommend others not use them for elderly patients. It is hard to be a 24/7 advocate for your loved one, especially when isolated for Covid. Between the Covid and a-fib, she is needed lot of help from her assisted living nurses, She is now getting in-home hospice care only three weeks after coming home. I believe the lack of quality care at Rosegate contributed to her condition.

My wife is a resident of Rosegate. They have more staff there than the other place she was in. She gets a little more supervision than she was getting at the other place. Of course, no place can be there 100 percent of the time, but they're there more often and look after her. They have more clinicians in the place that she was in. The room is okay. It's two people to a room, but it's not bad. They keep it clean. The food is way better than where she was. It's a more balanced-type meal and nutritional; not the kind of garbage that she's getting at the other place. The dining area is spacious and nice, not stacked on one another. It is large enough that there's space for everybody to move around. They do different programs like games and different things. They have music from different eras, movies, and movie themes from different days. The staff is excellent. They keep me informed or aware. If something happens and I'm not there, they'll call me and update me like on the changes in medicine and different things. So, I'm pleased. One of the things that swayed me is that they have everything she will need down the line as her health changes. They have extended care, a hospice unit, as well as memory care, so it makes it easier for the family and her, if her health changes. There's no big change for her to transition from one to the other.

My mother was in Rosegate for rehab about two weeks. Everything was pretty restricted because of COVID. She had a change in roommate and that didn't go well. I had no problem with how things went, but I wasn't staying there. Everybody was helpful in taking care, keeping her up with medicines, following doctor's orders, and doing her rehab work. I thought it was in a nice location. There were plenty of things there to do, but she just didn't feel like doing it.
