I visited this facility

Meadow Lakes has been very good about getting back to me and inviting me to visit. A representative of theirs took me and a girlfriend of mine around and explained everything to us. We've gone and visited twice just to get a feel for things and see one of the floor models. I've also gotten a list of all the available units and looked around the independent living side. They are very good about getting back to me, taking time to explain everything, and offering me assistance with moving. They have a program where they have someone who will help you with understanding and selling your home, and things like how to downsize. I like the fact that they have independent living garden units. Not all American senior facilities have those. When it comes to maintenance, everything's great as far as I can tell. I have not seen anything that's out of place. I haven't gone over and looked a lot at the main campus. I know that they have some assisted living that has outdoor access from their units and that's what interests me if ever I would have to move over to the other side of care. I have a service dog, and I like having access outdoors without having to go down the hallway.

My brother moved into Meadow Lakes. They have a very nice setup. I like the apartment, and the food quality is really good. His apartment has an outdoor-facing window, and the size is very nice. He has plenty of room, even though it's a studio apartment. He has a nice little food area where he has a microwave, a refrigerator, and a sink. The staff is wonderful. They keep me up to date on his needs or wants. They help him every day to move in and feel comfortable. They have games available. They have little seminars on finances and things for families and residents. They have a physical fitness area that they can use. They have laundry that they can use at any time. They watch television together. They go to the movies, they go to outings, they go to restaurants on a bus, and they go shopping once a week via the bus. They get people to doctor's appointments if they need assistance getting there, and they have a doctor also there in the building. But I'd like to see more activities.

I visited this facility

We have chosen Meadow Lakes for my father. His room will be ready in two weeks. It's a very family-friendly and clean community, and it's close to home. The layout of the room is for one person; it is a studio apartment. They have plenty of activities. They have shuffleboard, cornhole, and they bus them to different areas of the community in Mooresville. They have a pretty outdoor area and sidewalks. They have an activity bus that takes them to different activities. The facility is very well maintained.

This is the WORST facility I have ever incountered. Absolutely the WORST… Bathrooms and toilets are filthy. No two staff members are on the same page. Place is horrible.

Staff are super friendly and took care of my family member as their own. The place was bright and clean not your typical "nursing home" feeling. Would highly recomment.

I visited this facility

The staff at Meadow Lakes was cordial, very polite, and very informative. The facility was nice. The rooms were a little small, but there's enough room for two people. The grounds were well-groomed. They had sitting areas and different things outside. It was nice and there were a couple of people in the activities room when we were there. The facility was really clean. There were no foul smells. It looked like it was well-maintained and everything was in order. I just liked the appearance when I walked in.

I went to look at Meadow Lakes. The room was kind of small. The inside was nice. The people were nice. The staff was really helpful and professional. They had a salon, a therapy room, and a dining area. It looked like it was nice. The part of the facility I saw was very clean. It was pretty close to a hospital.

Mom moved into Meadow Lakes. She had been there before for respite care when we went on vacation and whenever we're looking for memory care, and she seemed to like it. It's an all-women's facility, so that worked out really good for us, too, because I kinda heard stories about men and women being together. Because of Covid, everybody's locked down, and I miss my mom. The staff members are all very nice. According to mom, food is really good. I have not seen her room because I haven't been able to go back to her room, but she has not complained about it. She's in memory care, so they work with her every day on different things, trying to work with her memory. I don't know what they do in the memory care right now, but before Covid, they would take them out on little group tours. When I checked around, there were others that were cheaper, that had just women. I thought it's really important that there were no men in the area, so I really like this.

My stepfather was in Meadow Lakes three months ago. I liked it. He was in a double room, and he had a roommate. The facility was very nice, and they had a lot of staff. They had their own physical therapy and that kind of thing. The problem was, we are getting the therapy at the other place paid for by insurance, but here, they couldn't do that and we didn't understand that. The therapy was the reason why he's at Meadow Lakes. He's a grumpy old man, but he was happy there.

My step-dad just got out of Meadow Lakes. It seemed fine but we couldn't see anything because of COVID, they would bring him out and we could see him in the lobby. He likes it there which is rare. Staff was really nice and he liked them too. The facility was very nice, I think it's expensive. They have transportation to doctors' appointments and things, they have game nights, they take people shopping if they can go. They also have retirement homes and condos.

My friend was in Meadow Lakes for rehab. Overall, it was pretty good, but due to COVID I think they were short-staffed. But it was OK. It was fine. The appearance of the place was excellent. I couldn't go inside so I had to sit outside on a bench and talk to her through the window. I would suggest they hire more qualified people. It's newer, it's well cared for, the grounds were also well cared for.

I visited this facility

Meadow Lakes is very similar to its sister community. We looked at their little cottages, and everything was basically the same as far as the sizes of the rooms. The only thing different was the location. They have a salon and a restaurant dining area, which is of course not open because of COVID. The staff member was very nice. She was a little late for our appointment, which was probably out of her control, but with the hot weather, the ladies got hot waiting around. It was pretty much full service as far as the accommodations for COVID. They deliver the residents' food from the restaurant to the individual housing because the dining room is closed, and I like that idea.

Meadow Lakes' rooms were a little small, but it was a nice community. They have bingo. The apartment we saw were very clean. The staff member was very good and super. They did a really good job. They were gracious enough to show us around. The cafeteria was clean and spacious. The residents seemed quite happy and very outgoing. They seemed to be on top of everything that was going on.

We visited Meadow Lakes, and it's in a good location. They have a lake, walking trails, exercise trails, a clubhouse, and everything you could ever want. The villas are spectacular, and so is the price. The manager was very attentive and hospitable to us. I was very pleased with everything.

Mom is in Meadow Lakes right now. It’s about 16 or 17 miles away. She’s in a room, and there’s another lady in there, too. I’d say the room is fine. It seems like a very nice place.

Mom's room at Meadow Lakes was small, like a hospital room, with two beds in a room. It's OK and very nice, and in terms of appearance, I would rate it a 5. However, it lacked other things. She was limited on her diet and felt like she didn't have as much freedom as she would like. She said she felt like she was in prison because she was told what to do, how to do it, and when to do things. She was served three meals a day, but they ground up her meat and it was tasteless, so she did not enjoy that either.

My husband is at Meadow Lakes. It’s a very caring place and treats him like family. They’re understaffed, as everywhere is, but they still get the job done and care for the individuals. The rooms are fine and cleaned on a daily basis. I’ve never seen a mess that wasn’t cleaned up immediately. They take very good care of the facility and offer all kinds of activities, like bingo and arts and crafts. They have a large TV and computers available, plus once a week, they have field trip outings.

We went to Meadow Lakes, and it was a nice place. The staff who accommodated us was very good. She was helpful in answering questions, brought up some things that we may not have even thought of. She was very good. I also like that their meal time was flexible.

Provider Response

It is always a pleasure to talk with families about our wonderful, full continuum, senior community. I enjoy helping families to define their lifestyle and healthcare needs as they search for the right "next step" for themselves or their loved ones. March 7th marked my ninth anniversary at Meadow Lakes. This is not just a job to me, it's my passion, and the residents are my extended family.

My parents have been residents in the assisted living part for over 3 years. My dad started in the rehab area. They keep everything in great shape and care for the residents very well. I am out of state but my brother and sister-in-law are there several times a week. There is a comment on here about the food being mediocre at best. My experience is the food is of good quality and they have a great variety as well. I know most never write a review unless they have a complaint so thought I would side for 3 years of exceptional care that my parents have received so far. Note: My parents aren't the easiest for the staff either but still get respect and care.

My mother was released from the hospital with orders for rehabilitative care for a few weeks before going home. They made it to the hospital at around 9pm. Granted there would not be any office staff there at that time of night. However, they did were not prepared for her to come and it took my dad quite awhile to find someone who even remotely knew they were coming. While they were waiting, they witnesses housekeeping staff moving beds and cussing at each other. That sealed the deal for them. They turned right around and left the facility. She was totally turned off of the idea of rehab and is doing her therapy at home. We were highly disappointed in the whole experience.

Meadow Lakes is very nice. The staff is very informative because we were there not only to look over a facility since we were never in one. It is very nice and very clean. We walked through the whole facility, it looked to be nice, and the place is very clean. She showed me around like an exercise room and various other things. She explained what they have and meetings to keep the people busy. One of the main concerns was the financing we had available to work with. So that is more of fact finding information than anything else, and we got some good answers. My brother and I were trying to become educated on the process.

My mom is in Meadow Lakes in Mooresville, and so far it has been perfect. I was really impressed. It smelled good, and it was clean. Everybody was just really nice. The rooms are a little small, but they are fine. I haven't tried the food there, but my mom says it is really good. They do a lot of activities there like make crafts, play bingo, and sing songs. We really loved the people and liked the cleanliness. The facility is close to our house as well.

Even though it says it has independent living, assisted living, and nursing home, Meadow Lakes is more nursing home. It is very clinical. All the staff wore scrubs so much so that I felt like I was in a hospital. The services seemed wonderful. The staff was very friendly, and there was lot of interaction with the patients. That's what it seemed like because people were treated more like patients rather than residents. The dining area is very ordinary and served institutional food. I would call it more like hospital food. The sanitation is very good. The room is not spacious. They do have independent living cottages, and those were great and very spacious. But my mom needs to have somebody to tell her it's time for dinner, and she would have to cross to another building to do that, so that is not for her either.

My mother has been placed in a community named Meadow Lakes. We actually heard this by word of mouth. We lived close to there and heard a lot of good things from other people that have been there. We took the tour, and we were happy with what we saw. She's been here since December, and we've been very pleased. It's a double occupancy so she has a roommate. It is divided by a curtain, and they each have a bed. There's a restroom in there and a closet that locks. We brought a TV and a nice reclining chair from home. I haven't tried the food, but I've been there several times when she's eating. It all looks very good. She has never complained one time about it. I couldn't say anything bad about the food. I know they do a lot of matching games, identifying cards, a lot of singing, arts and crafts, and bingo. I wouldn't say it is one thing; it is the overall experience. We've all popped in at different times, and we never had any issues with any of the staff. It's always been positive up to this point anyway.

My father was a patient from a fall and a hip replacement. The facility grounds were very nice and well kept. The interior was very nice, clean and decorated for the different seasons and holidays. They have several activities for the patients to participate in. They provided a schedule with the times and area they would be in.Most of the nursing staff was dependable and helpful. They were a bit slow to respond at times. The Physical Therapy department was not as considerate of the patients as I had expected. My father had to leave the facility to have dialysis, which was about six hours, Physical Therapy expected him to do theropy as soon as he returned with him being as fatiqued seemed a too much. The dietary department food selection and appeal was not the best and several times it was not hot by the time the patients received it. They was not much attention paid to food likes and dislikes.

Meadow Lakes is a higher end retirement home. They have a nursing home section for those who can not operate their daily lives without constant assistance and they have an assisted living section for those that can get by on their own. The facility is clean and of high quality. Both times I visited there was a man painting the corridors with fresh paint. The environment was sterile and smelled nice. The staff was friendly for the most part, I did notice some of the care takers speaking impatiently with some of the residents which I find to be unacceptable. We had lunch with my friends grandmother. The food was of mediocre quality, not a far cry from jail food. However it was served hot and had fruits, vegetables, and meat included.Over all I would rate this facility to be of fair quality. Most of the nursing homes seem to be corporate run and don't really care about the residents, just the money they are making from them.
