Georgetown Station was real nice. The manager was very professional and caring, so it was really good. It was an independent living community, I did my own cooking, cleaning, and transportation. The environment was very clean and there's a caretaker for the building. Other than that, you're pretty much on your own. People pretty much kept to themselves, but some of them are friendly and it's really just like living in a regular apartment complex except that we're all a bunch of seniors. People come in to give us information and help us in getting our taxes done. They also help us in making sure we have a therapist come in and take your blood pressure. They brought in people to give us advice on healthcare and prepare us in case death comes, they gave good information, and had everything available. They also brought in good activities, we played games, and different groups would come by to give us different programs like singing and stuff of that nature. We also had workers come in to perform their services, one is our project manager, and there were the social workers who made sure we got what we needed, like help for utilities and food. The community is close to the store, fire stations, and EMS.

Georgetown Station had a long waiting list. The tour was very informative. My son went with me and he had a whole bunch of questions about where I might end up, and the staff answered all his questions plus mine and gave us a nice tour. We couldn't look at an apartment because they were all filled up, but I liked the area because it's kind of spaced out. I'm in a wheelchair almost all the time now, and it's been a lot of work trying to get around. We walked through the lobby, she pointed out different rooms, we looked at the laundry room, where the mailbox was, and different places. It was very nice and clean, and we didn't smell anything. The staff was very eager. They had a small parking lot.

Georgetown Station had a more nursing home atmosphere to me, but it was okay. The residents didnt seem to have a problem, they were enjoying, and coming and going. The staff was pleasant. They have residents that need a bit more assistance, and so they have pull cords in the apartments instead of trying to dial 9-1-1. The unit we saw had a kitchen area. They had transportation, they plan activities depending on the residents if they want to participate or not. Its a smaller facility, and they had a 2-3 year wait list.
