I visited this facility

I toured Traditions at North Willow. The dining area is what I like the most. It's very flexible and very upbeat. People seemed to be enjoying a good time visiting with each other. Everything was fine. There is a game room, and they have a Wii bowling team, which is a very big thing there. And I think that most people come to watch and only a few people can play.

Traditions at North Willow was a nice facility. I think my problem was the main area. For someone who can't see, there was a lot of stuff and I was kind of concerned about that, but it was clean. We did a walk-through. We just did not get to see an apartment or eat there either, and it was a little farther, maybe 15 to 20 minutes from me. Price-wise, it was $6000 to $7000 for a one-bedroom. Everyone was nice. We got to see a studio and had my loved one walk around with me. She wanted a door to her bedroom and there was not a one-bedroom available for us to see at the time. They only showed us a studio and she wasn't feeling it. I saw that most of the people there were able to get out and about on their own. There were some that even still drove. They had a beauty shop and exercise equipment. I only met the person who took us on the tour and one other person, the activity person, and they were fine.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've already moved into Traditions at North Willow. I love it. It's fairly new. The independent living are villas. You've got everything you want. Most of them are two-bedroom, two-bath, and you've got a garage and your own laundry facility. The neighbors and the community are great. The dog park is right across the lane from my villa. There's a club facility here for the villas. We have a euchre club. We had a block party last week. If we want, we can go over as part of our cost and have 30 meals a month at the big building. It's where the assisted living and memory care units are. They have transportation to get you to and from doctor's appointments. Everything is paid for except for your insurance on your personal belongings. It's not cheap, but the quality is amazing. Interaction with the staff is great. They went out of their way to make the transition. I came right from rehab and my kids moved me in and I'm pretty happy. They have transportation to physical therapy. They have church services. They have music where they bring musicians in. It's just a full-service community. There have been two families since I moved in who have decided that going to assisted living is what they should do and they'd have, so it makes it easy to just slide right over. It's a wonderful place. My next-door neighbor is moving over this week to assisted living and his wife who had fallen and injured herself and had been in rehab will follow him over to assisted living in about a week or so. They won't have to worry about having problems because of their age. It's pretty great. I can have my small pets here. I've only had one meal from there. I get Kroger to deliver food and make my own meals. They serve dinner early like 4:30 and I'm not ready to eat at that hour. I'm still in a wheelchair, so getting over to the big building is not easy. I don't go over and eat in the dining room either. I love their activities. They have cards, exercise classes here on the villas, and little excursions because they've got a bus where they can take groups. They have a couple of card clubs. They also bring in a musician from Carmel. He's wonderful and he comes in twice a month and plays some wonderful music. What's interesting is at the block party last week, the chef came over and did the cooking out on the grill and stuff, and it was great, the potato salad and the hamburgers and stuff, and yet it's the same chef that cooks your meals over at the dining room. He did a bang-up job at the block party. It was good.

I went to look at Traditions at North Willow. I thought it was beautiful, but I couldn't afford it. It was too expensive. The facility was large and homey. I met the activities director, and she seemed to be very enthusiastic. Independent living has individual cottages, and I like that. The one I saw was empty, so it wasn't set up, but it was large.

I visited this facility

We toured Traditions at North Willow. I looked at the villas. I like the floorplan. I like the location. It was close to the hospital, and it was close to the rest of my family. Location was a big item for me at this point. But it did not have up to a skilled level, and it did not have any physical therapy, so I ruled it out. They have a building where they have apartments. They have memory care and assisted living. At this point, I was looking mainly at the villa. I like the villas, but when I saw that if I would go into a hospital and come out and need physical therapy, I would have to go to another establishment, I thought, no, that's not what I'm looking for. They offered a meal package. The staff were very nice. The facilities were very clean and very well done decoratively. I went into the chapel, and that was another thing. It was closer to the church that I could go to. They did have a church service once a week there in the villas of the faith that I'm in, and so that was appealing to me. There was nothing wrong. They were more than gracious and they bent over backward to let us get in to see a villa. However, they didn't offer me everything that I needed.

I toured Traditions at North Willow. The rooms were nice. They were set up like apartments, and not a hospital. They have different activities every day. They have a beauty shop there, they have physical therapy, and they have doctors there, so my mom wouldn't have to go to a family practice doctor. She could get a medicine prescription and see a doctor there. The staff was very nice.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your kind words regarding Traditions at North Willow. We are very proud of our team, and we are hopeful your Mom will become part of our family!

My mom is moving into Traditions at North Willow. I thought it was a pretty good place. I thought that it was well-kept, and they seemed to be very strong in programing for memory care, which is what we were looking for. It's very pretty, very well done, and is a nice place. It doesn't look like a nursing home and has a homey feel. I was very pleased. As far as my mom's room, it's nice and spacious. There's a couple of windows for a lot of light to come in. I like the way it's set up. I noticed that they have a lot of things going on, even in their assisted living. They have a little movie theater, and I believe they have a snack bar and that kind of thing. It's clean and decorated very nicely. It doesn't look dark, and it looks like a really nice inn. It looks like a community. I was visiting and my mom's not there yet, but as far as I could see, everyone was very, very nice, and very polite. I also like that they they're updated, and the environment is very nice. They also have a lot of programs going on. There was some mixed communication that I found with the person that I'm actually moving in with. That's the only thing that I noticed, but I think they did a very good job with the tour. I only spoke to the marketing person, and I met the nurse. The tour experience was excellent. They did a very good job, and it's one of the reasons that I decided on that place. It's really nice. I think the only reason that I probably would give it a four instead of a five is because their memory care is not on the first floor. It's up there on the third floor, and I think the other thing maybe, and I kind of understand why, was that the bedroom isn't carpeted, so I'm buying an area carpet for my mom.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your review! We are so glad that your Mom is part of Traditions at North Willow! We are so glad that you were comfortable on the tour, and that our staff was knowledgeable!

I visited this facility

My brother will be moving into Traditions at North Willow. This was the second place we visited; they asked for $2500, he signed the paper, wrote them a check and that's where he chose. We had a couple of other places with appointments, but he chose them after that visit. So we went ahead and canceled the other appointments. He liked the facility itself. We were shown around by the director who took us through all of their programs, the cafeteria, and apartments. Then she showed us the 2-bedroom, 2-bath villa, which is what he decided on. That's why we went with them, it's because they had a villa available. He doesn't need assisted living, so he wanted to be as independent as he could; and by moving into a villa that allowed him to be more independent. It's beautiful. It's 2-bedroom, 2-bath, with a living room, a kitchen, and a 1-car garage. He doesn't drive, but they're going to try to get him a motorized scooter to get around because he's a stroke patient. He'll be able to park that in there. It was handicap accessible, so he could get in and out of the shower easily. They were going to paint it and put new carpet before he moved in, so he could make it his own, which is nice. We met with the director, Libby; and then Alison also followed up with me. Then this week, a gal named Katie called me, she's the move-in coordinator. So, as soon as his COVID is gone, we will coordinate through her to move in. It seems like it's going to be seamless and that's what we wanted, something for him to enjoy. We did not try their food, but we looked at the menu. With the villa, he only gets one meal a day, so he will probably choose breakfast because that's his favorite meal. He'll have a kitchen in his villa; he can do some basic cooking. She showed us the theater where they show movies. She talked about a group, the single men; they go out once a month. She talked about a happy hour on Thursday. They go shopping, and they go to other places. So, he's not just in his villa all the time, he can participate with other people. Although he will be one of the youngest people there because he's only 63, the only reason we had to do this is because of the stroke. He will be one of the youngest residents, but I don't think that'll bother him. It was impeccable. The rooms were spotless, and we met the cleaning crew. The villa that we looked at had not been painted, and she assured us that everything would be painted, and carpets would be replaced. The upkeep is wonderful, and they'll help him change his bed every other week; so that is a big deal too. He did not want to leave his home, and now he's excited to move, so that means a lot. It was beautiful. The library was beautiful. There are computers for him to use. They have all the modern conveniences that he could use.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your review, and we are so glad that your brother will be part of our Traditions at North Willow family! We look forward to seeing him and for him to become involved in the community activities!

I visited this facility

I already signed up with Traditions at North Willow. I liked the fact that I could have my own separate apartment. They're called villas. It's a two-bedroom with attached garage, and I liked having the attached garage. The community relations director was excellent. The apartment I'm moving into is brand new. Nobody's lived in it. It has two bathrooms, a fairly large modern kitchen, and washer and dryer. It's a very nice place. Their dining room isn't open yet from COVID. I looked at their brochure, and the food sounds pretty good. With your rent, you get 30 meals a month and breakfast any time of the day. 30 meals a month means you can have one a day or if you're eating somewhere else, you could have two in one day or whatever, so it's pretty flexible. They have a lot of things going on, and the people in the apartments are pretty friendly. They have an onsite activities director, who coordinates a variety of activities and many outings based on their residents' interests including musical entertainment, special holiday celebration, and summer cookouts. They have an exercise program every morning at 10:00. They do exercise in the main building, arts and crafts, bingo, Bridge games, cooking, daily happy hour, outings to local restaurants, and holiday shopping. They have a lot of things that you can do. I basically just saw the unit I'm going to move into and the model unit. It's very clean. I didn't really tour the main building where they have memory care and assisted living. This place is new. It's only four years old.

Provider Response

We are so glad to have you at Traditions at North Willow! We love our Villas and our overall team that enjoys their jobs! We hope to see you at our variety of activity programs!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My grandmother will be moving into Traditions at North Willow. It's a little newer. It looked very similar to the place where she is currently. The location is nice because it's just down the street. The apartment looks good. The library area is amazing because my grandmother is an ex-librarian. She really likes that their library has a lot of books, and it's spacious. The staff was amazing, very knowledgeable, very sweet, and very patient (which I think is important when you're working with the elderly). They have a beauty salon and a beautiful outdoor area, where the garden is. There is an activity room, where they do some arts and crafts, play bingo, and all that jazz. I think there's a movie theater. We met the chef, and she's probably amazing; I didn't get to try the food. They have bingo and movie nights. They take them out quite often from what I gather. I've got a lot of church members that live there already, so they're always talking about the different places they go.

Traditions at North Willow was very nice. It was a little more expensive than we wanted. It was close to the hospital and things, and it had good transportation. I liked the little houses. We liked the place. The thing I didn't like was it was more in the city than we wanted. I didn't meet any other staff, but the one giving the tour was fine.

I like the memory care at Traditions at North Willow better than the other place we saw. It's spacious, the rooms are big, and they do a lot of activities and things of that nature. The people who work there are amazing. The rooms are all private. That's why they're a little more pricey, so we're trying to get my grandfather a Medicaid waiver. But it's definitely worth it. They have their own bathrooms and showers, the eating area is really big, and the TV areas and everything are really big and wide. They have a really big, nice courtyard where they have people perform sometimes, and they have a visiting area. So that's really nice. They do a lot of arts and crafts. They have celebrations for every religion and celebrate all the holidays. They would have people perform music for them. There are a lot of different activities.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad moved into Traditions at North Willow. They're professional and accommodating. They have physical training rooms for whether you have patients, or you're with an actual physical therapist, or like on their own. They do food, they wash your laundry, they have access to cable in your room, WiFi, and this is kind of standard. He's in memory care so it's a little bit more limited. He said the food is good, sometimes he's getting enough, and sometimes he's not getting enough. He's also a young/pretty young patient to have in memory care. When he's stressed out, he's more active, and probably more active than they anticipate their patients to be, and I think he burns out a little bit more.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for the 5 star review! We are glad that your Dad seems to be adjusting well! We will make sure he is receiving snacks and great meals and can provide larger portions! The team is so glad your Dad is there---we love him like our own family!

We went to Traditions at North Willow. They're not friendly. We had to wait quite a while when we had an appointment to tour. We were left for an hour in the dining room with some residents, but our tour guide was slow to come back and get us. The food was not very good. The facility looked rundown. The staff could be more efficient in their tour. We were made to feel like we were really bothering her. Also, the staff in the dining area was very unprofessional, and their menu was very limited.

Provider Response

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. Please call Libby Mellinger, our Executive Director. We typically receive 5 star reviews related to our dining and tour experience, so we are concerned we might be being confused with another provider that has a name similar to ours. We are very committed to customer service, so please call at your earliest convenience.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is a resident of Traditions at North Willow for 3 months now. I'm not thrilled, I don't think they treat their patients as human beings. It's just a job to them, and I don't think my mom is getting as good a care as she had at the other place she was at. They keep telling me they're going to give her great care, but my mother spends a lot of time in her bed. I think the management people wanted it to be better, but they're not making good hiring or staffing decisions. The rooms are very nice and very spacious. The assisted living looks pretty nice, and everything there looks pretty good, the memory care is very stark.

Provider Response

We would like to meet with you to discuss your concerns. Our top priority is to provide your mother with the best care. Please talk with our Executive Director.

My parents are now in Traditions at North Willow. They like it. It is a good environment and it is very clean. The staff members are polite. They look out for their residents. The activities are very good too. I haven't tried the food, but my parents seem to like it. They have a salon, an exercise room, and a theater.

Traditions at North Willow is a lovely assisted living residence. My mother moved in a year ago. She’s enjoyed the activities, the dining, and how clean the facility is. She likes to walk around the safe courtyard to get some steps. It gives the whole family peace of mind that she’s there. My mother in law just moved into her one bedroom there in May with her 2 cats and is enjoying it as well.
