"I like Castle Senior Living at Forest Hills. However, I wasn't too keen about where it was located. I didn't particularly care for that area because it was a little difficult to get to if you're not driving. That was my only complaint. The staff was very informative and very friendly. They showed me around. I saw where they eat, and I saw one of the rooms where my loved one would be staying. I think they're basically the same. I believe they have a nurse on duty 24/7. I like it. I like their balcony. Everybody had somebody watching out for them."

"Lohman Village at The Wartburg Adult Care Community was very nice. I like their independent living facility and they are not very pricey. The staff was all very friendly, the amenities were nice, and their common dining room was also nice. This is where both the assisted living residents and the independent living residents go to. I would recommend this facility to others. "

"I'm very impressed with Birchwood Suites. I liked it very much, but I want to see other options, and the price was high. I want independent living, and I'd like to have a place to sit outside, and I am coming with my cat. I like that I had kind of my own cottage with two entrances, and it had an outside little tiny patio where I could sit. I spoke to the director, Natasha, and she led me around the place. She was very nice and very encouraging. The facility looked pretty good. I had a separate bedroom, a separate living room, and a small kitchenette. The bathroom looked good."

"My dad is in the Atria Riverdale. This is a facility that’s very good for those who want Kosher food and who think keeping a Jewish lifestyle is important to them. I would just advise whoever is going to bring their loved one there to ask a lot of questions beforehand. It’s a facility that gives the bare minimum of what they can offer you, and if you want Kosher food or to maintain a more Jewish lifestyle and want to be in that area, then this would be the place for you. They do have a memory care facility, and there’s also a hospice facility. It’s a very clean, well taken care of, nice building. They have a lot of activities because every time I was there, there were concerts going on or different things happening downstairs. They have a computer room with a couple of computers for people to use and a dining hall that’s set up restaurant style, including the menus so you have a good choice of different entrees that you can take. They have wellness care as well for people who need to take their medications and such. They have a doctor in the facility. He’s not there daily, but he has certain hours and just comes to visit the patients. They have a beauty salon and other amenities as well. The staff is very nice -- the nurses and everybody I met were very nice. The people in there seemed to be very happy as well. "

"Gladhaven Club is a small community. There are only about 12 to 15 people there. It's located in an old house so it's very homey. I feel like it's a nice community to be moving into. My tour experience was very good. The rooms vary in size, but they're all quite nice and they are very nicely furnished. If you prefer, you can bring your own furniture too. It appeared to be very well kept. The dining area is communal dining. I didn't have any food, but they said it was all home cooking. I'm hoping it's going to be good. They don't have activities like they do in some places. They have parties occasionally, but they don't have regular activities."

"The person I visited at The Knolls really likes the place. It has a very big Olympic-sized swimming pool, and she is a swimmer, so she really loves that. She can drive her car and everything, so she is kind of on her own, and she likes that of course. She has a two-bedroom that has a really nice kitchen, and she can cook her own food if she wants. She has a washer and dryer in the bathroom, and there's one room that is set up like an office with a desk, and she can use that. I saw the dining room, but no one was eating in it. I didn't meet any staff, but my friend showed us the place herself. The facility is not brand new, but it's not really old either, so it's nice."

"The Esplanade at Palisades was nicely appointed. It was a very comfortable feeling and the staff was very welcoming. It was very clean and very nice. They have a library and a very nice, comfortable-looking room with a piano in it and nice big windows."

"We toured Sutton Landing at Uniondale. What we liked about it was its full kitchen and beautiful grounds. They had a very comfortable and convenient setup for social gatherings. They had an outdoor pool and a fire pit for just gathering around, conversing, and socializing, all that's outdoors. They had a garden where my uncle could plant vegetables. He's very good at growing some of his root vegetables. So, that place was positive. The person who took us around was very good. It was modern. The facility was gorgeous. It was excellent. They kept the grounds beautiful. The reception area was very appropriate and clean, and well-kept."

"Everything about The Bristal Assisted Living at Westbury was lovely. It was a beautiful place and everything was clean. They had little areas where people could sit, a little coffee area, and an outdoor area. Everybody was very nice. Their restaurant looked gorgeous. It was high-end and I look forward to eating there. I even met the chef. They have a beauty salon where you can get your hair and nails done. It's open on Thursdays, which I thought was wonderful. They also have knitting groups, an arts and crafts room where they leave out jigsaw puzzles for the residents to work on, different types of classes, dancing, music, bingo, and a little movie theater where they play a movie daily. There's a lot of activities to keep them active."

"Dad is at The Bristal. It’s a wonderful place and he loves it there. The place is actually terrific, but right now he needs 24/hour care. They have different types of rooms with different sizes. They have apartments with one bedroom, a living room, a kitchenette area, large bathroom, walk-in shower. He is now in a studio apartment which is very large one room that has a bed, a couch, a separate bathroom, a large bathroom, and kitchenette. Overall, it's wonderful. It's like being in a hotel. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and really nice. I couldn’t say a negative word about them. "
