We found The Manor at Lake Morton for Mom. It's relatively new and it's beautiful. The facilities and the rooms are beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very caring and helpful. My mother tells me that they are nice to her. She has made friends at The Manor, so we really like it. They don't have levels of care. It's an assisted living facility and it's just the basic care. The dining area is beautiful. My mom says the food is good. They have a staff member that handles activities. They play bingo, they have arts and crafts, they go on field trips occasionally, and they take the residents outdoors to get fresh air, to the lake, to see the ducks and things.

I didn't like the location of The Manor at Lake Morton, so my overall impression of it was not good. It's right downtown in Lakeland, and I didn't like the neighborhood there. From my viewpoint, it was below average because it's very small, and I didn't have a good impression of it. There was a small garden, but most of the garden was a potted garden. They had a lot of trough boxes type of garden because they're downtown and they don't have a lot of room. They have a courtyard-type open area that was nice, but it was a cramped area. They had a library and places where you could go out and read and do things like that, but it is still sort of a closed-in feeling. The staff was very attentive to letting people in and out. We went there as strangers, and as soon as we got up to the door, there was someone there to open the door for us. I was impressed with the staff. The first impression when we got there, they were right there to let us in. The staff we saw and spoke to were friendly.

The Manor at Lake Morton is a beautiful place, they are very attentive to all the people there. We just love it, it's a perfect place for my mother-in-law. We have tried the food, it's very good, and they do a very good job with the variety. I know that they play bingo, do some art activities like drawing, and I think they even do some type of painting. They have a courtyard where they take people out to and they play bingo out there and do other activities. They also have a shuttle bus that will take people to do some activities away from the facility. At times, they go about a block to the lake, and when the weather permits, they actually take groups down to the lake because they have swans and ducks they can feed down there. The building is only three years old and they've kept it really well.

The other places we visited were OK, but The Manor at Lake Morton was a little quainter, a little more private, there were less people, and it was a lot cleaner. You don't smell urine when you walk in. It's beautiful, and the people are extraordinarily nice. My father-in-law was in the hospital for two weeks and they visited him and played cards with him while he was there. They go the extra mile. He likes the food. The lunch, dinner, and snacks are fine. They have great activities for them. They feed the ducks across the street, they play bingo, do puzzles, and there's movie nights. They have activities all the time for them, even on Sundays. The staff is awesome. The rooms are super clean and the customer service is great.

We liked The Manor at Lake Morton. It's small, new, the food's really good, and they seem to be caring. The staff is very friendly and compassionate. My parents are in a really large room and everything is brand new. The place is peaceful, clean, and there are always a lot of activities like bingo, pretend badminton, entertainment, they do their nails, crafts, and they walk to the lake. A hairdresser also comes in once a week.
