My brother just went into the facility 1-1/2 wks ago and my other brother, sister-in-law and I were concerned (stressed) how we were going to get him to stay there. With the help/advice of Julie, admin, it went surprisingly well. After being in there a few days I called to check on his progress/mood and we discussed the possibility of us maybe getting an acoustical guitar to give him an interest during the day bcuz he's been a musician his whole life and Julie thought that might be a good idea too. Before my family had a chance to look for one Julie notified me her husband had found one on Amazon and ordered it for him. How awesome is that - that they were so pro-active. Our experience has been nothing but great so far.

I chose Pleasant Grove Manor for my companion. It's a smaller facility with the potential to expand. The care and some of the features that they offer are different than the average ones under the older generation that's running them. So the newer generation is an asset. The food is all home-cooked. They don't have a high patient-to-staff ratio, so they're able to give more precise care. They have a courtyard, and he's allowed to come out and go wherever. I'm in the process of getting him a bus because they don't have a vehicle for transport. It is near everything within a few miles. The administration is younger. They have some very innovative ideas, which include putting pictures and shelves outside the door so that if the residents lose their memory, they have pictures of their family and they can find their room. I just think that's brilliant.

My mother is in Pleasant Grove Manor. I have nothing but positive experiences. The people there are nice, the place is maintained, I'm happy, and my brothers are happy. It's a small facility, they only have 20 beds, it's kind of personal and intimate considering that it's an institution. It's not an overwhelming large institution where you get lost in the shuffle. They don't have many amenities, they have a yard in the back with a pond, a fountain, and that's about it.

My father has been there for over a year. The help there is wonderful. When dad was recently in the hospital, they visited him and brought him a gift. They have brought their spouses and children to visit with him and they seem to genuinely care for him.

I Wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone at all not very clean and the residents are not taken care of like they should be the people here do only what they have to in order to stay out of trouble and that's it... These residents deserve much better...
