Continuing Care Retirement Communities Communities in Riverview, MI

"My dad moved into Woodhaven Retirement Community. So far, things are working out very well. The community itself is lovely. The staff members are wonderful, well-trained, happy in their jobs, kind, caring, and patient with the residents. I'm just very impressed. The dining area was very lovely. They have regular dishes, and their food is brought to them. They ensure that the residents like what they're eating and that the food smells great. My dad's room is very nice. He's got a lovely view of a courtyard. He has a private room with a private bath, and it's just the right size. They have group activities, and even if the resident doesn't participate in the activities, they encourage them to be there and be with the other people. My father has dementia and doesn't take part in much, but he seems to enjoy being with the other residents."

"I toured Oakmont Northville at Seven Mile Road. It was nice, but I just didn't really feel that's where I wanted to be. There are some good points to it, like the fact that it's family-owned, but they didn't have the amenities that I would like. The grounds are OK, but not impressive. The person who did the tour was very nice and helpful. They only had two meals a day, which isn't a difficult thing, except none of their apartments have accommodations for cooking."

"I toured Rivers Grosse Pointe. I talked to a person in admissions there just for the level of care that I wanted for my ex-husband to see if they could accommodate him. They have a swimming pool, but their rehab facility is in-house and it is set up like a rehab facility. They have parallel bars, and they have physical therapists. If a patient can't come to the room themselves at their schedule, the rehab person would get them and bring them to the room. They get wheelchair-bound people up. That's what I like the most. Their physical therapy room is nice, bright, and well-lit, and they have multiple things for them to do. I saw them working with the patients, so it's very good. I think this is a very good place to rehab. I saw them working with new amputees, and it was good. I got a good feeling about it."

"It was my father who has been to Fox Run for about a week but he ended up passing away. It was a facility that actually he had looked prior to getting sick. The whole care is okay, and he was treated very well. He was very sick. The only problem was his heart stopped and they did a resuscitation. We had a do not resuscitate order but they went ahead and send him out to the regular hospital. Well I just think that there was a miscommunication since we had a do not resuscitate order. But the over all care before that was fine. "

"I went to Hampton Manor of Clinton. It's new, and there are not a lot of people there too. The place is beautiful, and the staff from what I encountered was very nice. There are a lot of things about it I liked. That was a nice experience, they were very attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. The facility was very nice, I liked that everything was on one floor. They even have their little patios for a lot of the rooms. And right now, they're running the specials too, it's for six months. The rooms were nice-sized, and everybody has their own individual rooms. They're very caring, and I felt that they're concerned with my needs. The staff asked me a lot of questions and gave suggestions on how they could help. I liked her a lot. They showed the cafeteria, and everything was clean. They're not near capacity, and there weren't a lot of people there."

"We’re very pleased so far. Everything is going well, and they seemed to be attentive to their patients. The number of patients is smaller than other places, which is a good thing. We love the fact that we pay a flat fee instead of getting charged for everything dad needs. Dispersing medication is a big thing for us, and that’s a part of every one of Windemere’s levels of care. My brother has eaten there, and he said the food is pretty good. The place itself is very nice, new, and clean. My only comment is it’s on a slab, so the temperature gets a little off-kilter at times. They have activities for the residents. The reason we selected this community was because of its all-inclusive pricing"
