My mother stayed in American House Westland Hunter for a year. It was very clean. People were engaging. It was a very nice apartment. The staff and services were exceptional. They were very, very helpful. They had limited activities because it was during COVID, but they took them out to the stores for shopping and out to lunch. They did bingo. They had karaoke. They had a bar night, where they served them alcohol. They had movie night. She had her own kitchen, so she really did not use the food much.

American House Westland Hunter is very clean and there are lots of activities. They offered a lot of services, including the meals. They have bingo. They drive their people to the grocery store, to movies, and to different locations like that. They have a room for playing games and stuff. They have the kitchen area that is open all the time where you could get drinks and stuff. They have a TV room. There are in-house doctors and nurses on the top floor. There's an elevator, which makes a big difference.

The tour I had at American House Westland Hunter was with Cassandra. It was good. She was very thorough. She called back for communication purposes. She tried to help us one million percent and was very passionate about trying to help us, but it just didn't work out. She was just really good. When you first walked in, the facility was very clean. They were renovating when I was there. So, they were renovating the floors my relative would have been on. The apartment they showed us was very clean and the main floor was clean. The elevators could have been cleaner. Some of the other floors in the hallway could have been a little better, but they weren't bad. Again, there was a renovation, so I can't say. There was painting and stuff, so there wasn't a lot they could do.

The person who took me around American House Westland Hunter was very nice and very intelligent. She knew what she was talking about and knew the place. The room that I was taken to was just a little small for what I was looking for (it's a small community) and the building was a little older, but the people were nice. She had mentioned some trips that they were taking and that sounded good. They also do educational trips.

American House Westland Hunter was pretty clean. The food looked pretty good. It's assisted living and at this point, after my friend had the COVID, she needs more than assisted living. The staff seemed pretty good. They've got courtyards outside, and they have some activities. The staff tried to be as helpful as they could. It's near restaurants and right by Westland Mall.

American House Westland Hunter was a three-story building. I liked that at the beginning of the month of April they're going to have a one-bedroom open on the third floor. If I go there, that's what I'll probably pick. It's right off the elevator, so maybe I can get right on that spot so my dad doesn't have to walk the hallways. The staff there was really, really nice. They have activities during the day and they play cards. Some of them would play after hours, like after dinner, where they'll get games together. The lady that did the tour was very helpful. She showed me a two-bedroom, a one bedroom, and a studio. There was an exercise room, too. The place was very clean. It's not brand new, but it's well kept up.

I visited American House Westland Hunter. I thought it was nice, but my mom wasn't as fond of that one because it felt like she was in a hotel. They have the same amenities as everybody has, they have music, food, and laundry service. The room seemed nice, it just was a normal room. They didn't have central air and my mom was concerned about that. They just had air conditioning units. The kitchens were kind of outdated. Another thing is, I'm not fond of how they put the plug-ins for the smell. It almost is toxic. I don't like the air freshener things, I'm just not a fan of that. When we went into the rooms, it was in there.

I thought American House Westland Hunter was great. They said they would pick up the bedding and the towels once a week and do laundry. They also have a laundry facility where you could go do your own laundry or pay extra to have somebody do your laundry for you. They had church services that were nondenominational and also Catholic services. They had three meals a day and a lot of activities to do. The staff during the tour was good. She just had a bubbly character and listened to any questions you might have. They had the library, the beauty parlor, a fitness room, the laundry room, and quite a few activity rooms. They have weekend music maybe or bingo. They have craft rooms. The facility was very nice and very clean.

The staff and residents of American House Westland Hunter were very friendly. The lady was very professional. The residents were outside of their apartments/rooms taking part in an activity or socializing in various areas of the building, and that was very nice to see.

The apartments at American House Westland Hunter were clean and modern. Seta was very kind, very helpful, and was very pleasant to talk with. She and I just connected. They just didn't seem to have an exercise area, but they did a very good job when it comes to its upkeep and cleanliness. It's near a church, a mall, and other stores; yet it's in a quiet park-like area. It's away from business, but within two to three blocks of most businesses I would use.

I toured American House Westland Hunter. It was an independent living with a third-party option for showers, meds, and things like that. The staff was very nice, but let's just say she didn't necessarily agree with all the things that you have to do for COVID, and that was off-putting to me. The apartments really needed to be remodeled or updated. They had some activities; I believe they had like craft rooms and games and things. That one was just pretty on the outside. It was not as well kept up on the inside, for sure.

We visited American House Westland Hunter. The reason I like that one was because the place was clean, and I like that they have different activities for the seniors. The staff was friendly. I like the setup. The place was friendly, and it was welcoming. The director came in and introduced himself to me. It was organized, and it was decorated nicely for the holidays. They had a salon, a workout room, and different activities on different days. Also, they have outings outside of American House.

I chose American House Westland Hunter. It's got Woods around it, and it's not right on main street. Good meals, the people were very nice, and the apartment had a lot of storage space. They gave us a meal when we first went there, my son and I, they gave us a couple to take home. It was very good. They have cards, they have a lot of different activities, and they take you places. They only have one elevator. They were very, very nice, the one that took me to see the apartment, her name was Seta, and she was very nice.

American House Westland Hunter was gorgeous. The rooms that we looked at weren't occupied, but they were great. The staff was great too. There weren't any people in the dining area, but it was nice, clean, and some people were cooking there. I believe that those were the meals that they were taking upstairs. They have activities, a bus that would take them to the store, movie nights, and card playing. The rooms were small, but they get the job done.

American House Westland Hunter wasn't as friendly or homey as our current community, and it looked like a facility. The rooms were clean because they were empty. They kept calling us to try to help us and even got the Veteran's to help us. In fact, they called and asked how I was enjoying my stay in my present place. They didn't have to do that, so that was very nice. Their dining area is more like a cafeteria. They take you to your doctors and they take you anywhere you want to visit for a couple of hours, so that's probably also why they are more expensive. The person who gave us the tour was very nice.

My visit at American House Westland Hunter Senior Living was nice but short. It didn't have the 2 bedroom apartment that I wanted, and the rooms were too small.

I think American House - Westland Hunter is overpriced for what they offer. The staff who gave us the tour was very informative and very nice. One of the things I did not like is they do not have apartments, only rooms. They have a lot of activities and a community television but no TV in the rooms. Every day they have something going on.

American House had friendly people, and it was very clean. The people were also very attentive. They seemed to always check on their patients to make sure everything was OK. The food was good, and the activities were great. I saw a one-bedroom with a walk-in closet and walk-in bathroom. It had brand new carpets, a refrigerator, a stove, and a sink. Everything was perfect. They had bingo, date nights, and movie nights.

American House was located close to some of our relatives. It smelled nice, and the lunch was reasonably good, but I am not sure that I was really impressed with the rooms that were offered. It was a three story building, and my mother-in-law is paranoid about elevators, which is a negative. They have activities, but I am not sure that they are going to be of interest to my mother-in-law. She is rather elderly, so she doesn't do crafts any longer and has trouble getting around. It is a matter of interest, and I am not sure it's American House's fault.
Provider Response
Thank you for reviewing American House Westland Hunter, and for taking a tour with us! We completely understand your mother-in-laws concern regarding elevators - perhaps a room on the first floor is something that she's interested in? If not, we do have several other communities throughout Southeast Michigan that may fit her needs and be what you're looking for. Please contact me if I can provide any information. My mother was looking at a place close to the area, and we found American House. I saw there were interactions with some of the staff, like they were listening music and stuff. I noticed there were residents working on crossword puzzles, and some were playing cards in the lobby.

All I can say is everything is good at American House Westland. I have no negatives to say about it. The rooms were very a good size. The menu was good, as well as the food. The staff seemed like they go above and beyond. The residents get along well together and are very supportive of each other. It was a very nice and pleasant experience. They are doing some construction, and they are changing and upgrading the place. They are improving the place.
Provider Response
Thank you for all the positive things you had to say about our community! I appreciate it. Our staff works very hard to make sure this is a warm, inviting community in which our residents are having fun - and happy! We are always working to make improvements. We choose American House for my client because of its price and location. The staff is good and the rooms are okay. It is a nice facility. The rates as compare to other places are better, but it is a costly thing for our senior. If they are looking and they have the money to afford it, I will refer them to that facility.
Provider Response
Thank you for recommending us, Stacey! Often times, when seniors weigh the costs of staying and home and maintaining their house, our community can be the same price or even lower. If I can be of any assistance to you or any of your clients, now or in the future, please call me personally.

We just dropped in American House without an appointment and it didn't look very clean to me. The assisted living people did not eat with the independent living people. The staff was okay but they didn't know we were coming and they were not wonderful.

As our staff members are busy each day trying to make everything as enjoyable and pleasant as possible for our residents, I'm sorry you felt as though they were only OK during your visit. Please feel free to give me a call and we can arrange a proper tour for you to experience how lovely our community is!

My dad has been living at American House before we transferred him. The staff that took care of him was good. My mom lived there too before she passed away. They had activities which were good but my dad was just not interested. They also had a van that took them out shopping sometimes.

When we inquired at American House, I was impressed with the facility. I liked the surroundings and the area. The staff seemed to be accommodating. I also liked their activities for the residents. However, I was in an electric wheelchair and their handicap facility didn't fit me. We could get into a room, but, the shower wasn't that accessible.
Provider Response
I'm glad you appreciated all the amenities and features we offer for our residents! I'm sorry the shower wasn't easy for you to maneuver; please give me a call so I can see what possibilities are available for other rooms that may be more accommodating for you.

I liked American House. I wished my mother could have stayed there because I knew it would have been better if she was there. They had a large dining room. They had apartments with stoves and refrigerators. They had transportation. They took their residents on trips. They had people come in to do their hair. However, she couldn't afford to live there. I would recommend them to others.

Thanks for noticing the amenities we offer our residents, and thanks for recommending us, Leah! Please feel free to give me a call and we can discuss possibilities for your mother - whether now or in the future.

From what I saw of American House, it seemed like a decent assisted living facility. They often had events going on for residents. There were also occasional trips to the store, movies, and even a boat ride. The staff seemed helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable of the residents and their families. The food didn't seem that great but it was not some awful cafeteria food. The staff helped a good deal and showed up when called/needed. As with any place like this there was a issues time to time but nothing significant. The facilities were nice. Both interior and exterior looked new and kept up and provided a nice atmosphere. In general the residents seemed satisfied but most of that depends on their own mental state. Some nice extras that I saw was the salon that they have for appointments once a week and the drop in doctors, physical therapists, and other medical professionals.
Provider Response

I looked at many places before I chose the American House for my Grandmother. Their staff is amazing, they really care about the residents. They are reasonably priced, it's very well maintained, the menus are very well planned and offer choices to the residents. They have many activities and plan trips for the residents. If there is ever an issue they promptly take care of it. They offer good advice for residents families about programs that could help out for whatever type of situation you may come across with your family member. Over all I would highly recommend American House assisted Living facilities.

This facility is nestled in the community of Westland, MI a western suburb of Detroit, MI. It is surrounded by well groomed lawns with many large trees on a boulevard of newer condominiums, walking paths, and is close to shopping and public transportation. Upon my many visits to the facility I was always greeted by welcome smiles from the staff and other residents. Upon entering the vestibule, each visitor must sign in with their name, time of visit and the name of the resident you are visiting. You must also sign out when you leave. Once approved you are let in to the "Grand Room" with adjacent dining area. This well appointed living room is to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. I noticed a few residents playing a friendly game of cards at a nearby game table ( there were several ) other residents enjoying the companionship of each other while working together on a jigsaw puzzle and still others sitting comfortably while chatting with their visitors. It is well lit and cheerful. On my many visits I witnessed the phenomenal care given to the residents from the Nurse Assistants, Housekeeping and Management staff. The facility provides the residents with 3 nutritious meals, well planned weekly entertainment events and scheduled outings to local interests for those that are ambulatory. Each suite though not large boasted a small but modern fully equipped kitchen, living/dining area, safety grip bathroom and bedroom. Many residents enjoyed the flexibility of preparing small meals and or heating up left overs brought by family members. The price was excellent and based on the level of care each resident needed; from minimal care to more advanced care. We shopped other facilities in the area but for the amenities we found at American House Westland-Hunter Senior, they could not be beat. Thumbs up!
Provider Response
