My mother-in-law is now at Hancock Hall. The care is good. I just wish they could have their own individual rooms, that's the only thing. If they're going to be living there to the end of their life, it would be nice if they could have their personal space. The staff is very caring. Their food is not bad. They have a lot of activities. Most of the residents obviously are older, so they have a lot of music, and the music is like what they would know. It would be like 1940s music or maybe some jazz music. They'll also put on a documentary on TV and bring them into the common area. I haven't seen any hands-on activities yet, but they have bingo games and things like that. It's very expensive though.

My mom was in Hancock Hall-Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danbury before for rehabilitation. The care was very good, her room was very nice and the therapies were good. I went to see what they did and they did a good job. They had activities, but I didn't see them at that time. The food was good. I was there when they were delivering the food to her room. They give more than enough for her. Everything was nice. The family room was clean, everything was modern as it could be. She had a private room, which was very spacious.

The first thing I want to say is that never when I visited and I never called ahead, were there residence just hanging out in the hallway with no one nearby. My mother with advanced Alzheimer’s was always dressed in matching clothes with her hair neatly combed. Her room was always spotless. The nurses were friendly and kind. I tell everyone if you have a loved one to send them to Hancock Hall.

Hancock Hall is family owned and this is what you ideally want to look for in a facility. You can voice any concerns and they will be listened to if you bypass the nurses and go to the owner. The place was spotless and there were any activities and patients were kept busy and were cared about from what I saw and I was there a great deal. The owner seems to be patient oriented unlike nursing homes which are now owned by businesses. In those facilities the business people in the office have no clue how long or what it takes to care for each patient. Hancock Hall was a great choice for my grandparent and I would recommend it.

Hancock Hall is family owned and that makes a tremendous difference when choosing a nursing home for a loved one or yourself. Yes, it is terribly expensive--but they all are. At Hancock Hall, however, the primary emphasis is on the patients. The place was immaculately clean which is extremely important. The aides were well trained and kind. Most nurses were very good and the rooms are nice. There was an active recreation program with many varied activities at the time when my relative was here. If possible, I recommend finding one of the few family or privately owned facilities rather than one that is run by a corporation. Hancock Hall's owner listened to any complaints and they tried to set a high standard of care.

If Rehab or Long Term Memory Care is what is needed for your loved one be sure to visit Hancock Hall. My husband need short term rehab after being in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks. My family and I visited several area facilities and found Hancock Hall to be the very best place for our needs. The staff is well educated, trained, compassionate and caring. They have more than met his needs and he will be going home this week. The food is great also!

There aren’t enough positive words to express how amazing Hancock Hall is. My mother, at 95 and both cognitively and physically self sufficient, suffered a stroke and needed rehab followed by transitioning to full time residency. We selected what we were told was a great facility near us in Westchester County. It was a HORROR SHOW. It didn’t matter how close it was to us —we would drive farther if it meant a better life for her. So we did our own due diligence and visited a number of places and we struck gold. Hancock Hall is THE BEST. The care, concern, and family communication shown from day one by everyone—the owner, admin office, nursing staff, rehab staff, aides, dining room staff, volunteers—to my mother as well as to all of her family was amazing. We visited often and it was always the same. All of the residents were spoken to and treated so nicely. The activities were varied and engaging for my mother. The dining room with tablecloths and flowers served food my mother enjoyed and had a flexible menu. Hancock Hall is a clean, friendly, family-oriented, professionally run facility that has a true home feel. Sadly, my mother passed away and even that was handled with great compassion. We are all so thankful for the way she was able to live the end of her life.

My aunt spent the last five (5) years at Hancock Hall until her passing. I can't say enough about the staff and the nurses at the facility. My wife and I visited every week and there was never a time where my aunt had a complaint about the staff or her treatment. She even liked the food most of the time. Whenever there was an issue, a nurse would call me to discuss the issue. The true test of this caring facility was the last few days of her life. My wife and I spend 2 days with my aunt and the staff couldn't have been more caring and supportive. From the constant coming in to check on her (and us) to the sandwiches they brought us because we didn't want to leave, they were the most professional and loving people we could have ever wanted. Thank you to the staff and congratulations to the management for providing a clean and loving environment for my aunt to live her last years.

We have multiple experiences with Hancock. I had rehab there about 1 year ago. My mother was a "guest' for several years and passed away in 2015 at 99 years. My mother-in-law spent several years at Hancock and passed away in 2009 at 92. So we have a long history. The facility is "first class". The level of attention to the "guest" is great. More importantly, over the years we always saw the "guests" treated with dignity. The facility was always very clean and we always saw staff treat "guests" and visitors with gentle respect.

Mom is in a nursing home right now at Hancock Hall, and we are not happy with the facility as of the moment. She is the hospital right now because she fell. She didn’t have the bed alarm on, and they over medicated her. They are always short staffed. This was actually one of the best nursing homes around the area, so we are kind of sad about the incident. She broke her shoulder, and she's not able to feed herself because it was her right, and she can't walk at all.
