Its office in Statesville serves seniors aged 60 or older, helping them maintain their independence through transportation services provided through a partnership with Iredell County Area Public Transit. There’s no fee but donations are accepted. Trips must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance but no more than one month ahead. Iredell COA also administers programs offering senior nutrition, in-home services, family caregiver support, health insurance and senior community service employment. All services are free, but seniors are encouraged to donate based on their income.
Iredell Senior Center(704) 873-8568The Iredell Senior Center in Statesville is accredited by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services to provide a place for seniors to pursue active lifestyles. ISC keeps seniors socially active with trips, dances, board and card games, singing and music. It offers continued education through classes, programs and seminars. ISC provides health and wellness programs, including fitness classes, shuffleboard, tennis, health education, laboratory tests, blood pressure checks and periodic health screenings. It hosts free income tax filing through the AARP Tax-Aide program, as well as long-term care counseling, free legal services and information and referrals for community resources. The Senior Center doesn’t charge a membership fee, but some activities may require a fee to cover instruction and supplies. A scholarship fund covers fees for seniors needing assistance.
