Mom stayed at River View Lodge. The outside was unkempt. The inside was good. Her apartment was clean. The facility was clean. The staff was good. The care was great. The food was horrible. Some of it was barely edible. Certain days it was OK, but not what Mom wanted to be eating. There were quite a few great activities. Mom didn't partake in a lot of them because she was kind of a short-term resident. She was just getting her strength back, but consistent activities were going on. They had Christmas in July, some concerts, and some food trucks that came on Friday.

We toured River View Lodge Assisted Living. We had an appointment and we arrived early. We were told that the staff was in a meeting, after waiting 15 minutes beyond the start of our appointment, I was told they were still in a meeting, so I said they had to send somebody because my parents are impatient and they want to go because they had tired at that point. They sent us another person, and he was not knowledgeable. I felt like he didn't give us good information, and some of the things were contradictory to what I had heard. The grounds are beautiful and it's right on the river. The apartment was much smaller and very pricey, and not much storage, so it would not accommodate my parents.

My father was there . He was very hard to please. But he loved it. Great staff and food. I checked alot of places , this Riverview is way the finest in the area. Beautiful, very peaceful location. That's what a home should be. They have and can provide different levels of care if needed.

The apartments at River View Lodge Assisted Living had full-size refrigerators, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. They had two levels, so there would have been a necessity to take an elevator, which concerned us. They had a couple of larger apartments, which were particularly nice. The views were very beautiful. The setting was lovely. It's like a park with a lot of grounds and the Wisconsin River there, so that was very nice. We met some of the staff, and they seemed happy and had a good relationship with the director who was giving us the tour. If mom needed to transition out of independent living into more direct care, then she would have had to go to a different building and we didn't see that building.

I have been here in River View Lodge Assisted Living for five years now, and I truly like it here. I thought about moving to Arizona, but when it comes right down to moving, it just didn't seem like it was a thing to do. Many of my family are out in Arizona, but they come here and visit me, so that's fine for me. The staff is one of the reasons why I like it so well. We have quite a few women who are trained to be nurses through the university here and worked here as CNAs. It is just wonderful. Sometimes the food could be better, but that is just me. The staff is still great. We are sort of in the countryside surrounded by trees and beautiful views. They have bingo a couple of times a week, a library, a great exercise room (with any kind of equipment you can possibly want to use), several pianos, sing-alongs, and a very nice lobby where you can visit with friends that you do not want to bring into your room. My room is lovely. It is perfect for me. I can see the river on both sides of it. They go shopping at Walmart too. Sometimes when the weather is really nice, the go somewhere else. On Christmas, they go around and look at things. I have been happy living here for five years and I think it is a great place.

Quality of service was excellent. Employees show sincere compassion for residents. They go "up and beyond" to involve residents in social activities.

My grandparents required a move to an assisted living facility earlier this year after my grandpa had an accident in the garage. We could not be any more happy about where they ended up! It's more of a "supervised freedom" place than anything. The location is gorgeous - it overlooks the Wisconsin River and is tucked away in the woods along the Green Circle trail, which beats being in the other facility along the highway. They get to live in their own apartment, but the staff is on call 24/7 if they need help. Meals are cooked for them, they're given whirlpool baths, there is a theater where they screen movies, there's a chapel and breakfast bar, they get help exercising... everything is all planned out but at the same time it's optional. My grandparents don't need help with everything - my grandma is a good cook - and this place is perfect for them. The four times I've been there have all been pleasant. The staff is friendly and knows everyone by name. The place is clean. My dad even went to high school with one of the RNs! All-in-all, my family and I couldn't be happier knowing that Grandpa and Grandma are in safe hands and we would recommend River View Lodge to anyone in Central Wisconsin seeking a supervised freedom facility.
