Elizabeth Gardens at Racine is beautiful. I met the manager and the nurse, and they're absolute great people. The monthly amount comes with 28 hours of service, so the meals are included, there's laundry service of up to three loads of laundry a week, and there's cleaning twice a week, vacuuming and cleaning your floors, and cleaning your bathroom and things of that nature. You have to be able to get up and go from bed to chair, or here to here with only the help of one aide. If you need more than one aide, then you would go to the other facility that's a locked facility. The tour was very thorough and very informative. They sent us home with paperwork so we could see once we're home the things that they offered as far as daily schedules, bingo, prayer, and other types of things that they offered at the facility. We toured three rooms at that facility, and each was a little bit different in their own right. One had a large refrigerator, a lot more storage space, and an electric oven and stove. Another room was slightly smaller and only had a stovetop, not an oven. Another one was a different room. We happened to go see a friend that already lives there, so we went in to her room to see how she had it set up, but it's very spacious. The grounds were very nice and very well kept. You can come and go during the day, but then after a certain hour you have to buzz to get in and out. The eating facility was quite large. It reminded us kind of like a restaurant. They had all-day/all-night coffee and juice available. If you need someone to bring you food to your room, that is a $5 cost. People were actually there eating lunch and it seemed to be a very nice lunch. Lunch is the largest meal of the day at the facility. I think it was chicken breast, a mini corn on the cob, and some vegetables and coffee, and everybody seemed to be enjoying it. The tenants there have a fob, so if they fall or something, anywhere on the grounds, they just push the button and the staff would know something happened; they just have to go find the resident.

Elizabeth Gardens had more of an apartment-style with a kitchen, which my father wouldn't need. They were big nice units that had a bedroom, living room, and a kitchen. They didn't have an efficiency available. The unit she showed us looked like it had brand-new carpeting. They were beautiful with full windows so you could see outside. It was very nice. They didn't have any efficiencies available. So, it was more expensive there. The director who gave the tour was very nice and very professional. They had a very nice activities director who offered a lot of activities for the residents. The place was clean and everybody seemed healthy and happy. The dining room was kind of special. It looked like a restaurant, which I thought was cute because my father would be eating in the dining room. It's also very clean and modern. It was very impressive. They had a lot of little sitting areas outside. It was a very nice tour experience.
