My mother-in-law has moved into Emerald Ridge. The reason I chose this place is because her room is a one-bedroom apartment, and she wouldn't have to move if she got more sicker over time. They will upgrade the services for her. It is very homey. The staff is very friendly. It is reasonably priced at a fixed rate. My mother-in-law is getting help with bath or shower twice a week, she has one laundry service and housekeeping once a week, and sometimes they help her with her hearing aids. She is still independent at 97 but still needs help, so she is doing great. Her apartment has a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. It is quite large. It has hardwood floors and has been recently been renovated. It looks great. They have an activities director and transportation. My mother-in-law pretty much got everything she needs. They have somebody who comes there once a week and does people's hair. It is a small place, but it has good food and a nice homey atmosphere. The staff is wonderful, too.

I visited Villa Saint Clare over at Neenah. It was very open, and it let a lot of light in. It was not a big place, but it let in a lot of light from a lot of windows. It was a cheery kind of place. The administrator was a very caring and welcoming kind of person. He just left a good impression on me. I thought the rooms here were small, but at least they have a lot of windows on the ground level. They were busy the day we visited. They were sitting at a table and had a puzzle laid out, working on it. There weren't a lot of people around to socialize. This community was rather small for a sociable person.
