I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We were stuck between a rock and a hard place when my father was released from rehab very quickly. We had to switch him from independent living to assisted and since I already paid their exorbitant community fee of $3500 along with $2598 to secure a "special" rate (what they do with this community fee I have no idea since the bldg needs a total rehab). He arrived on 5/6/24, I gave notice of intent to vacate on 5/17/24 (as he always seemed depressed and unhappy) after a "family conference"and moved him on 6/4/24. I know he expressed intense dislike of the place overall (his care givers were very nice but, it appears, very much understaffed), said the food was horrible and some of the folks were just downright rude and unhelpful. When you're paying over $5500 per month, you hope that you have your loved one in a good place. I knew for sure Hawthorne Court was not that place.

I visited this facility

We have chosen Hawthorne Court for my mother-in-law because of the overall size of the units that they have, the helpfulness of the staff, and the amenities that they have. They have transportation for residents to and from appointments or community events. They seem to have monthly get-togethers and a very active lifestyle for the residents. It's fairly well-kept and clean. The dining area is very appealing. They have a nice variety, and the dining room is a good size. Some of the rooms that we saw were kind of dated, but they're working on updating them.

I visited this facility

Hawthorne Court was very, very large for a one-floor building. It is an older community, and so it's very difficult to get through or into the rooms with a wheelchair. They're so narrow. The rooms were a little crowded, but it was workable. I had to ask for a room that had a larger bathroom so that I could maneuver my wheelchair in it. I liked the staff very much. They're very friendly, very upbeat, and happy. It's well maintained. They have a pool, which was pretty exciting. Although they're less expensive than where I am now, they just didn't meet my standards.

My mother-in-law lives in Hawthorne Court. She is in independent living. It is very nice and clean. The staff members were nice. My mother-in-law likes it. They do everything. They go on little outings. They have indoor activities. They do exercise, craft, and get-togethers. It's expensive, but I think they all are. They provide the meals, and they have nurses on staff. So it depends on how much care you need and how much it costs.

I really liked the Hawthorne Court in Kennewick. The floor plans were wonderful. It's well lit and spacious. They had a craft room. They had bingo. They had some kind of bowling. They have exercise and physical activities. I think they have a pool as well, and the activity director seems to be pretty on top of the activities that aging people can do. This is assisted living, and the rooms that they had available had a good view or a pretty view out of the two communities that I saw. I thought my mom might enjoy looking out the window.

We chose to put my mother in Hawthorne Court in Kennewick. They were just friendly as could be before we went in, but once she was already in there, they hardly went to see her and check on her. They were transporting her and she fell and broke the tibia in her ankle, and they didn't do anything about it. They just said she probably would have a bruise and that she would get better but when she moved out of there, her leg was all swollen. We went to the hospital and they found out her leg was all broken up from the fall. The facility had just one licensed practical nurse that goes around and checks on everybody. I think she didn't take the complaints from the patients very seriously. For activities, they had exercise classes, games, and dances. I would suggest that they check on their patients more often, take their complaints more seriously, and to be kind to them.

Mom has lived at Hawthorne Court for several years now and this facility is now on its 5th chef and the food has become a standard weekly menu of the same items and are often not edible. Often times she sits at a dirty table because the waitstaff can't be bothered to clear and reset a table with clean linens. We are looking into other accomodations for her.

My mom has been a resident of Hawthorne for 3.5 years. She LOVES it here as do we, her family. The staff is seriously awesome, genuinely caring and go out of their way to make sure that all the residents are happy and cared for. There’s lots of activities and fun things for residents to participate in and if mom doesn’t sign up, they come looking for her ;) I feel very blessed to have found this great place for my mom. We highly recommend!

Hawthorne Court is wonderful, and my friend is doing very well there now. He moved in right after Christmas. The general appearance is very good. My friend has had cataract surgery and they've helped him recover. They've taken him to doctors' appointments. We're very happy with it. The food is fine.

My mom lived here & I have only positive things to say. The staff was amazing ! They were all so kind & involved & you could tell they loved their jobs. They treated everyone that I saw with dignity. The facility was always clean & had so many different kinds of activities that every resident would be able to participate in something that interested them. The dining rooms were inviting. even the servers knew their names & would cater to their needs. The food was nutritious, a variety, & very good. i have no regrets that we chose this community for my moms home. In fact, my husband & I would love to live here too down the road.

Hawthorne Court would be a wonderful place to go if you had to go some place. It was a very nice and clean facility. The staff was wonderful, and the rooms were very nice. We did not try the food, but we looked at the menu, and it looked awesome. The people were so complimentary about the meal. They did a very good job.

We visited Hawthorne Court. They had two cottages, and they were very nice. They also had activities and meals. This place would be a possibility for my mother. It is much older than some of the other around.

Hawthorne Court is a very professional assisted and independent place with a wonderful staff that care about their residents. The staff calls the residents by their name and they ask them how they are doing, They provide a lot of entertainment and outings for their residents. The food is 5 star offering them 2 daily specials and a basic menu I would highly recommend them for anybody's needs for their loved one.

The staff here was of the best caliber. We were always welcomed when we came to visit and the staff did not intrude on our time together. They made this feel like a home away from home. If there was a problem it was quickly addressed and did not happen again in the future. The rooms and common areas were always clean and well kept and the exterior is beautiful and well kept. This facility is the kind of place that can certainly make you feel better about your family member needing to be there. My family member enjoyed his stay and always commented that the food was "very good", he said it was nice that people seemed to actually care about him and that they truly liked the job they were doing. All in all I can't say enough good things here and if I had to do it again I wouldn't choose anywhere else.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

In my opinion Hawthorne Court was a good to great experience for my relative. There were many other residents there and they were all encouraged to interact with each other. Programs that Hawthorne Court used to promote resident interaction included things such as bingo night, field trips, and other social gatherings. The food was not exceptional, but that in my opinion is totally surprising. They did however have a decent amount of variety in their menu, which my relative liked. They would usually have a different meal every day, and it would range from things such as pork loins to meat loaf, etc. The amount of side dishes prepared with meals was acceptable in my opinion, usually with a good amount of greens. Most days they would have a different soup with bread that was prepared that was ready throughout the day in the main dining hall for residents to come eat if they were hungry. The reason that I did not give Hawthorne Court a five star rating was because the staff, while not disrespectful by any means, was not always super friendly and caring. Sometimes it seemed as if they were not giving their 100 percent affection into caring for the residents. They did a satisfactory job, but employees are a very important part of the experience for the residents, and I did not feel as if they went above and beyond.

The self sufficient elderly community provides a beautiful view located in the Tri-Cities. The community is a full scale retirement community that gives individual care and accommodates needs of all of their residents. The community features many activities to the residents that include full dining, and a hair salon. Fitness is very important in this community and the people living here have access to a full gym as well as many daily activities to keep fit. The community doesn't make the residents stay "on base." They provide a full shuttle service that allows the residents to go and run their daily errands including appointments as well as going grocery shopping as well as fun around town. The community also does feature an assisted living facility that allows people who need that extra helping hand to perform daily activities. Overall, this is one of the best and most independent living facilities I have seen in a long while.

Hawthorne Court is a beautiful facility that provided excellent care to my friend Theodore. The rooms were individual rooms not shared. The buildings and many of the rooms surround an inner garden that is well cared for and includes a pond. The rooms also have a deck that overlooks the pond and the garden allowing for a very pleasant stay. It has a bed and breakfast type quality about it. The staff was very caring and kind to Theodore as well as to each of the guests that would come to see him. I never ate the food but it always smelled appealing and Theodore seemed to like it very much. In all this was a facility much different than I had expected but happy that they took such good care of a dear friend.
