My mother moved into Canyon Lakes Manor (Brookdale) over 4 1/2 years ago, in March 2015. I live 4 hours away, and have been visiting her one weekend a month since that time. Mom continually tells me how happy she is with her choice, and I certainly agree. It's been a great fit for her! She's in a 2 bedroom apartment, with plenty of closets for storage, and a balcony with view of the gardens and pond. Mom brought her small dog with her, so she is out on the walking paths daily. Luckily, the paths and grounds are well-tended in all seasons. The staff have been amazing! Mom, myself, and my siblings continually find the Canyon Lakes Manor staff to be kind, friendly, and very helpful: the front desk and office folks, her apartment weekly cleaning person, maintenance staff, restaurant servers, recreation coordinators, van driver, etc. Mom eats lunch and dinner in the main restaurant/dining room, and we both really appreciate the variety of choices that are served at each meal. She rides the van to church, and sometimes to shopping or day trips. Mom enjoys the library, the group puzzle, and at times she also joins in on Friday happy hour, the numerous celebration parties, karaoke night, movies in the lounge, ice cream socials, crafts activities, and discussion groups. There are an endless number of activities to choose from, including a beautiful pool, a walking group, exercise classes, etc. We are so happy that Mom is at home at (Brookdale) Canyon Lakes Manor!

The person who took us through Brookdale Canyon Lakes was nice. They just needed to redo their interior carpeting and their showers were a no-go. It was not doable for us. I'm sure they're wonderful people, but I just wasn't impressed and it was too far for my sister to travel from where her room would be to anything. The outside was very nice though.

I toured Brookdale Canyon Lakes. It was very good and very informative. They told me that if my parents didn't fit in there, they would help with other assistance, and that's all good. The staff worked hard to figure out the cost element. They were very good and very willing to work with us. The staff were excellent. The facilities were very clean, very neat, fresh smelling, and updated. They have a good selection of physical therapy programs including water aerobics, which a lot of them don't have here in the Tri-Cities, so that was very nice, too. They have quite a good selection of facilities. They take you from independent care through end-of-life care. Their willingness to help you go through the different stages, and get you the right paperwork and into the right facility based on your needs is outstanding.

I toured Brookdale Canyon Lakes. It seemed to be excellent. I was very impressed with it. The staff was very helpful, and answered all my questions. The rooms were an adequate size, appeared to be clean, and seemed like a nice place to be. It seemed like they had a small kitchen, a front room, and a bedroom. I didn't try the food. I saw the dining area, but I didn't actually eat anything. It was very nice, kind of formal, with nice white tablecloths, and nice china and glasses set out. I was impressed with the appearance of that. From what I saw, it seemed to be well-maintained and well kept. They did show me around, they had weight rooms, exercise rooms, stuff like a lounge for activities, and an activity room.

We lived in Brookdale Canyon Lakes two years ago. It wasn't what I expected, and after living there for two years, it really didn't provide as much as I thought it was going to for the amount of money that we had to put out. There were certain things that were beneficial, but they divide everything between the assisted living and independent communities. We were still able to use the pool and the exercise programs, and go to any of the things, but there was no real support for the independent living, which we kind of needed for that time. The apartment that we were in was nice, but tiny and old. It needed to be updated, but that didn't happen while we were there. It was painted, and I think they did put new carpeting in before we moved in, but it just wasn't worth $4000 a month. Some of the people who worked there were good; some were not good. As far as following through on things that needed to be updated, completed, or maintained, they never would get around to doing those things, and they only had two maintenance people. The fewer staff they had, the worse things were. The food was atrocious. It was not good, and pretty basic at that. They ended up having to renovate the kitchen. The training for the staff was not there. I liked the people; they were really nice, but nice doesn't get the job done. For seniors over seventy, I suppose it was fine, and some of the things were good -- basic salad, and stuff like that. I had a kitchen, and I just did my own cooking pretty much, but we would go up and eat lunch every so often. I would go up with my neighbor. I had taken pictures of the food, and it looked horrible. It wasn't appetizing. The facilities needed upgrading, and the pool was horrible. That facility was pretty old and needed updating.

Brookdale Canyon Lakes was excellent. They had an exercise area, a pool, a big dining room, and a big central area where they gather and watch TV. They also had cottages where the residents didn't need as much care. The assisted living part was inside the big community area where they had apartments. The outside included cottages. You can get a one or two-bedroom cottage and you can walk into the facility and still get your meals, and they also check on you once a day and clean the cottage up once a day. The staff was good and answered all our questions. The only issue is that I put down money for the maintenance fee and I'm waiting for them to reimburse me for that because we never did get my mother or father in there.

I looked at Brookdale Canyon Lakes. I needed a room where my mother could have access to an outside door, but the rooms were old and rundown. The place itself was very nice, but the rooms were not acceptable for me. As far as activities and as far as the staff, they were great. It was wonderful there. They have beautiful outdoor area, and that was a plus, where residents could get out and walk on paths. I like all of them. It is just the room that they had available was not suitable.

My husband liked Brookdale Canyon Lakes the best. They had a lot of activities and they try to include their people in as many activities as possible. The food service was good. We looked at the cottage, which was not in the building but a separate apartment type unit. This was the largest place and it would have been nice for us. I liked the way the menu was set up because you had choices of entrees, but you also had choices of lots of other items like a sandwich or separate things from the entrees which was nice. My only negative comment was that it looked a lot older than the other buildings.

We have a very good staff at Brookdale Canyon Lakes who keep our place clean. We have a two-bedroom with a full-sized kitchen, a living room, and an outside patio, and I’m very happy with it. We eat in a common dining room; the social recreation is fine. We’re happy with the price here. I don't have any complaints at all.

I visited Brookdale Canyon Lakes. It has a lot of the things I like, like a good exercise program and a swimming pool. The apartments are very nice. The staff is wonderful. I have friends there, so I have been to many of their events and liked them. I’m actually on their waiting list.

Brookdale Canyon Lakes was a little nicer with a nicer view, but they were more expensive than the others. Nevertheless, if I have a few million dollars, I would go there. I like the way the food was served. Also, the rooms were a little bigger, and the view was very nice. It was within a nicer neighborhood. It was very upscale.

They agreed to put the money down at Emeritus. We started moving the furniture, but then my mother-in-law said "No." We liked the facilities, and the managers were all awesome. They all were easy to work with. It was beautiful and well kept. The staff was friendly and outgoing. A woman fell when we were there, and within seconds, someone was right there to help her. The activities looked wonderful.

I am having friends whose parents are there and friends that were there. It’s a very nice place, but I was very concerned it could be too far away and I didn’t want that to be the reason why family members didn’t see him. There is a retirement home, and they do something more than just a retirement home or senior living place. I think there is an Alzheimer’s Unit not too far away. If it was in a better location, I would have pursued it diligently, but I just couldn’t do it. There really isn’t bypass to get around it, so it was location only.

Canyon Lakes was very nice. We looked at the room, and we had a meeting with the director or coordinator, but it was pretty clear that my mom could not afford that facility because she is on a limited income. It is a little more upscale, so they charged more. We met another person there, and I think one of the nurses was very nice and friendly. We did look at the apartment; it was not finished. I think somebody had just moved out so it wasn’t clean yet. We looked at the studio rooms, and that was very nice. They also have a swimming pool.

Everything I saw was excellent at Canyon Lakes Manor. The cottages were just beautiful. The staff and everyone were very friendly. Its location is convenient to doctors, hospitals, and to shopping. I couldn’t ask for anything better.

My brother really liked Emeritus. It was an improvement over where he was. The staff was good. They have a gym, swimming pool, a restaurant that they could order food. They had a single-bedroom apartment. The food was good; the rooms were adequate. The location is really good.

My mother-in-law has moved to Canyon Lakes. It's all excellent. She has been there a month now, and she has settled in. She does lots of activities, and she met people already. She was a little reluctant and scared to go at first, but all of that is gone. Now she is telling all of her friends that it is a wonderful place and it is exactly what we were hoping for. The staff are wonderful, and they are very, very good.

Lovely place, nice people, good meals. If you want a nice home for your loved ones, The Manor is great. The aides are great and most every resident seems comfortable & happy. The only downfall is that their 're-hab' leaves a lot to be desired. They have a therapist that comes for a short time daily (for ALL residents). They have a small re-hab area with minimal equipment but I never saw anyone using it, and the woman in charge of 'therapy' doesn't seem to mind or care if requested therapy is followed up on or even given, is defensive if family questions it or requests more.
