My dad is at Gig Harbor Court. I like the fact that it's a little bit smaller. It's kind of a boutique facility, so it's only got like 80 people versus 300 people. I like the people a lot. The whole staff, no matter what their job is, is involved in connecting with all of the residents. My dad has a deluxe studio. It's a little larger than a regular studio. They have one-bedroom apartments with little kitchens. My dad has a kitchenette, but it does not have a stove. It has cupboards and a sink, so you can have a coffee maker or a microwave in there. It has windows all along one side, so you get a lot of light. It has a separate bathroom. The bed is in the same room, but it's a good-sized room. They have a trained chef, so the food is good, and it's varied. They have special meals on Sundays and for holidays. They try to keep things special. They have art time, musical presentations a couple of times a week, a Wii bowling club, and a movie room. They do a movie once a week. They have craft time. They go out on outings. They have a bus, and they take them out for shopping or lunch. On Tuesdays, they can take you to your appointment. They have a happy hour on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. You can have a beer or wine. They had entertainment during that time. It's so expensive, but they've taken really good care of my dad.

We did a quick visit to Gig Harbor Court. The rooms they showed us had a different view than other places we visited. It was overlooking the parking area and the surrounding place, and also had balconies. They provide a shuttle, they also had activities you could sign up for and go places. They also offer three meals a day to the residents. Our overall interaction with the staff was good. The community areas were clean and very well-kept.

I visited Brookdale Gig Harbor. They gave us a tour and provided information. The rooms were adequate. The facility was clean. There were a lot of extra spaces, like the library and the fireplace room. They had a lot of extra rooms where you could have guests who visited. The people were very nice. The dining area was good. I would recommend them.

My mom was in Brookdale for a week. The staff was very nice, but the head nurse was awful and tried to bully her. There was also one aide assigned to her who was very rude and almost nasty. She said the food was better than average. She was offered daily activities but couldn’t participate. They had the usual stuff like Bible study, movies, and bingo. They had nice rooms that weren't great but spacious enough.

My mom is at Brookdale Gig Harbor. The staff is fine. My mom is in her own apartment. It is quite spacious; it is a single room. The food is good. They have two exercise type programs. They have bingo and movie nights, and they have buses that would take them here and there. Overall, my mom is happy there, and that is the best thing about it. She has been there since April.

I've been here at Brookdale for two weeks now. I liked it. It is very pleasant, and it is well kept. Everybody is friendly, and it is in a beautiful area. There is nothing not to like. The staff is wonderful. We have an exercise room and a nice dining room. The dining room is really pleasant and the food is good. I just like it better than any other place I looked at.

I love it here. Brookdale Gig Harbor is really good for somebody who's looking for a nice place to live. The rooms are wonderful, and the food is wonderful. There are chefs that serve food from 7:00 in the morning until 7:00 at night. The dining room is clean, and they are remodeling it. We have bingo, and we have a tour bus. To me, it feels like a high-rise hotel -- definitely secure -- and it also is pet friendly; I have a cat. Emeritus also offers Medicare.

My aunt is now at Emeritus at Gig Harbor. We like the assistance that the facility is offering; that is why we chose this for her, as well as the location. The staff were very helpful and dedicated, and that is a big positive thing for this facility. The rooms were pretty convenient, and they have a variety of sizes, so those were helpful. I like that they have lots of light with big windows in each room. I was actually able to eat there, and the food is very good. They have activities going on every day, and people were living there long term.

We didn't like Emeritus at Gig Harbor. It looked very clean, and the rooms were lovely. However, it was a total turnoff because we have to sit at the same table all the time and be with the same people all the time. We didn't meet anybody else except the person that was guiding us, and that guy was nice.

We’ve been to Emeritus. We decided to go visit and see what it was like because it was close to where I live. I thought it was very nice, very clean. The people there were very nice and very professional. We saw an apartment, and it was basically a living room-type setup with a bathroom and shower. It had a microwave and a small, little kitchen-type thing. Then we saw a 1-bedroom apartment, and it was nice, clean, and empty. We saw the rest of the facility, and they showed us a laundry, a cafeteria facility, and a meeting room. We talked to some of the people who lived there. They really liked it there.

I find the staff at Merrill Gardens to be very friendly and helpful with my mother's overall needs. There have been a few problems with medication management, but the nursing staff addressed those problems to my satisfaction. The basic monthly cost is reasonable, but I think that the $600+ per month extra for each level of additional care is a little high. Meals and housekeeping are included in the basic cost, as is electricity, cable, and maintenance. There are plenty of activities available, Bingo and Wii Bowling, for example. A facility-owned/operated mini-bus takes residents on outings such as shopping and sight-seeing. It is also available to transport residents to medical appointments. Overall, I am satisfied with our decision to move our mother into this facility.
